ATHENS taz | Just days after the elections, our conversations revolve around the neo-Nazis in Athens, the "Golden Dawn". Their electoral success seem unprepared to meet the society in a country that has faced since the Second World War with no notable fascist forces.

Particularly alarming is that the violent attacks against immigrants just before the elections in any way acted as a deterrent to voters. It is now clear that the fascists have stabilized at just over 7 percent. How does this happen? What does this mean for immigrant communities? What would you oppose that?

The questions we asked the activists of Afghan origin, Nasim Lomani, the "Network for political and social rights Dyktio" which is one of the most important centers for language training and legal assistance to migrants in Athens.

Schwabinggrad Ballet

Katrin Bahr, Ted Gaier, Charalambos Ganotis, Irene Hatzidimou, Sylvi Kretzschmar, Christine Schulz, Margarita Tsomou and Christoph Twickel are the activist-artistic Schwabinggrad ballet. The collective reported two weeks for the taz from Athens. schwabing grad ballett.posterous.com

Nasim Lomani has lived for over 10 years in Greece, he speaks of historical turning point. Through the combination of parliamentary strategy and open violence on the street in the last election campaign succeeds the "Golden Dawn" increasingly socially legitimizing fascist crime. Lomani stressed that the violence affects not only immigrants, but also the homeless, sex workers, homosexuals and leftists.

Will use the public against these groups generated so Nasim, also from the Conservatives to take advantage of the climate for the right camp. This is supported in Germany a little scandalized message of the campaign manager of Northern Greece of New Democracy Psomiadis, the "Golden Dawn" miterwähnte prominently in his list right sister party, or the fact that the "migrant problem" central pillar was the Conservative election campaign.

Much less indirect support given the Nazis from within the Greek police: In the polling stations, where the police chose, the Nazis gained horrendous results of 17 to 25 percent. Such attitudes of parts of the establishment increases the risk that the young fascist forces to establish itself as a socially acceptable term.
Misery and broom

From our experience with anti-Nazi activities in Germany, we ask for out strategies against the black plague. Nasim reports of anti-fascist demonstrations in neighborhoods such as Perama or Kallithea, where organized immigrant communities with Greek activists - they would not be enough, however. Because the Nazis rooting through neighborhood work.

Successful precedent is its perpetual construction for over two years in the district of Saint Panteleimon. They help the new poor with basic medical care, distributing food, Grandma's help on the streets or go to the hospital emergency. "The crisis has punctured the social network, and they fill the gaps," said Nasim can, "because our networks are so much more anti-fascist work. It has a little, when a government unable to pay, to guarantee social security - the impoverished people who commit suicide are afraid. "

An important way would be to support the teachers in the prevention work in schools. They are defenseless against the construction of fascist young, many are openly threatened. All this is also the responsibility of Europe. The Brussels-saving dictations to bring the company to its limits, regardless of the consequences. With reference to Denmark or France Lomani argued that the fascist threat is about to be set up throughout Europe.

Dominant is his argument about the responsibility of European policy in relation to the problems of migrants. "Greece is an open detention center in Europe," he says, referring to the Dublin II agreement, which holds migrants on their way to Central Europe to Greece. The Europeans, especially Germany and would have just about the Greek law and make the state budget resources for training of detention and prosecution of illegal disposal.

In the evening we walk in the center of Athens by the Evripidou Street. Two police tanks blocking the road. Side of a house Migrants sit on the floor. A policeman in civilian clothes standing in front of them and calls out: "Who is the next" A street corner controlled on another with extended telescopic baton passes from the three young migrants. As we learn later, runs on the evening of Greece-Germany football match another operation "broom".
