I would say the very opposite. The protestant countries are the most Germanic and Germanics are racially the most naturally virtuous of all ethnicities. The sensible ones are not Christian at all though.
The birth rate in the Catholic countries has fallen faster and more than in the more traditionally Protestant areas. The birthrate in Italy is significantly lower than in England.

The low birth rate in these Catholic countries (where contraception is against the religion!) coincides with a very forgiving (even encouraging) attitude towards adultery. In southern European countries important men are virtually expected to have mistresses. There is moral outrage in the more Germanic (Protestant) nations over the same behaviour. None of this results in a boost to their birth rate, in fact it seems to have the reverse effect.
Catholics seem to be very sinful people who just think that God will forgive them so it doesn't matter. But it comes down to their racial traits at the base.
