Anything that would be caustic or acidic enough to destroy the surface of an HD , I wouldn't want near me, too dangerous !

( Doesn't sound right, the solution would have to penetrate the housing to get to the platten. That would take a long time and would dilute the solution . Just sounds dangerous . )

A good 16 oz. hammer would probably be more reliable and a hell of a lot safer .
