For hundreds, probably thousands of years, 'anonymous' has meant, well, one who does not identify themself. Someone who wants to conceal their identity. A lack of identity you assume when you want to say or do something that will make you enemies you don't want.

And now, millions of idiots around the world think 'Anonymous' is a centralised group?

Being able to be identified as Anonymous is a contradiction in terms. The second someone is identified, they stop being anonymous.

That said, whoever is behind this is doing some good work.
