No to Carbon Tax - Practical Solutions: Ethanol

No to Carbon Tax - Practical Solutions: Ethanol

The Australian Party will block a carbon tax and prevent either the Labor or the Liberals parties from introducing an emission trading scheme (ETS). If either has already been enacted before the next Federal election we will use all the voting power the people of Australia give us to have it removed.

The implementation of a carbon tax and then an ETS, would do nothing but provide a new financial instrument for global financial organisations to line their pockets with more money.
While not overly convinced of the affect of carbon emissions on global warming, it has however, been scientifically proven that an increase of CO2 (manmade or natural) in

our atmosphere will be absorbed into our oceans, raising acidity and causing problems for calcium carbonate (bivalves), which are probably the lowest on the ocean food chains.
This leads to an acknowledgement that something should be done to "pull the reins a little bit".

The answer however is NOT the implementation of a Carbon Tax. A carbon tax will play right into the hands of our foreign competitors, leaving Australian agriculture, manufacturing and
mining at a further disadvantage. Cost of living will rise and we will find ourselves in a worse position than when we started.

What we need to do are simple things that result in a lowering of carbon emissions including switching to renewable energies, such as ethanol for example, which would bring us into line
with the rest of the world. The US, European Union, Canada, Brazil, China and India all have or are developing biofuels legislation, and it is Australia dragging the chain on this issue.

And these countries have acted on the wealth of science available on this matter. Scientific papers from the United States and all around the world, point to a figure of 28 or 29%
reduction in CO2 emissions after a switch to ethanol produced by grains. That figure would be considerably higher when using sugarcane, due to the production method, but either way, the smaller figure of 28% is still greatly significant.

This solution has also been proposed by such environmental flag wavers as Al Gore (An Inconvenient Truth) and other scientists throughout the world. Yet it continues to be ignored by Australian Governments.

The adoption of renewable fuels such as ethanol will deliver significant carbon emission reductions and create a new industry, while not imposing another tax that will do nothing but raise the cost of living for Australian people.
