What do the organisers hope to achieve with this? What would they consider "a success"?

Knowing what the event will degenerate into and knowing the effect this will have on the public and knowing this is only going to do the government's work for them... I'd say if this "street gang", as Andy calls it, are genuinely trying to drum up support for Assad, then they would be better off holding an anti-Assad march.

I won't actually be attending, but fully support it.

We've done the police liaison and, contrary to what some other posters here seem to think, this will be a peaceful and dignified demonstration against the warmongering of Washington and the EU.

Seeing as the Syrian embassy is actually closed, would it not have been better having this at the Yank embassy?

Bashar al-Assad is the legitimate President of Syria!
The jews don't like him, so of course they want the West to take him out for them. Fuck them!

As an aside, he has by far the cutest wife of any head of state. She is darling.

I don't think the five or so demonstrators can be split between two embassies at the same time. The obvious place for a demonstration on international affairs in te UK this weekend would have been the Commonwealth Institute in Kensington. Whether the movement likes it or not the Commonwealth is big globally and the pow wow is taking place in Malta right now.
Presumably the intention of the demonstration is to generate publicity on social media there would be more chance of such publicity by selecting the HQ of the commonwealth for such a demo this weekend

Even better the institute is currently holed up in the New Zealand High Commission in the Haymarket and NZ just got a seat on the security council at the UN
