Default Cover of this week's Newsweek: They may have found the tomb of Ghengis Khan.

Good article in this week's Newsweek about the latest high tech search for the tomb of Ghengis Khan. They are using high tech satellites to map the area they suspect, technology they use to search for oil deposits.

The tomb has remained undiscovered for 800 years.

The article doesn't mention however, this was the subject of the movie, The Shadow, which was a pretty good movie. They open the tomb of Ghengis Khan and his spirit escapes to reconquer the world.

Other sources name the area of the Burkhan Khaldun mountain as his burial site (roughly 48.5°N 108.7°E). The area near the Burkhan Khaldun was called the Ikh Khorig, or Great Taboo. This 240 square-kilometer area was sealed off by the Mongols, with trespassing being punishable by death. It is only within the last 20 years that the area has been open to western archeologists.

The Mongols have not allowed anyone into the forbidden area, for 800 years.
