Come to think of it, a few WNs with say a large, flat-bottom motor boat with a red cross sign on it, and roaming through evacuated super rich neighborhoods, could "confiscate" mucho ill-gotten wealth to finance WN projects. (hint hint)

It looks like one of the first rescued in Philadelphia was a pavement ape that didn't belong there. It's suspected of looting. Wow. Imaging that

Rescuers in Philadelphia pulled a man from the wreckage of a collapsed building on Monday - and then promptly arrested him for looting.

The abandoned three-storey building in the north of the city had been reduced to rubble after Superstorm Sandy battered the east coast of the United States.

Firefighters working to make the building safe didn't think anyone was inside, until they heard someone crawling out of the rubble.

After helping him to safety, police officers arrested him for disorderly conduct on the suspicion that he had crawled in to the building, located on Cumberland Street, looking for things to loot.

The exact cause of the building's collapse is still unknown but Philadelphia has been buffeted by 50mph gusts as a result of the storm.

Concerns regarding looting in New York started days ago before Hurricane Sandy even hit the lower tip of Manhattan. A report coming in from NY Scanner, a tweeter who monitors New York City's public safety channel, stated that NYPD officers have been dispatched to the 60th precinct to help out with mobs who are looting storefronts:



NYPD's 60th precinct was unavailable for comment.

The Gothamist is also reporting that looting occurred in downtown Manhattan at the South Street Seaport and New York State Senator Malcolm Smith told NY1 he saw reports that described looting in Queens.

East Coast Grapples With Sandy's Fallout

Authorities throughout the Northeastern U.S. strained to assess Sandy's devastation Tuesday as millions were still without power, floodwaters drenched populous cities and public transit systems remained down indefinitely due to the freakishly potent storm.

Sandy's winds had dropped to 45 miles an hour late Tuesday morning as the mega-storm's center plowed through Pennsylvania at a slow 10 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service. But along the coastal cities that bore the brunt of Sandy's initial surge, the full impact of its once-in-a-generation flooding and wind damage was just becoming clear.

At least 33 people in eight states were confirmed dead, according to state emergency officials, and the toll was expected to rise. More than 8 million customers had lost electricity, and three nuclear power plants were shut down due to water pump problems and other issues, according to the U.S. Energy Department.

New Jersey appeared to suffer the most severe damage, especially the cities along the Jersey Shore, where portions of the famed Atlantic City boardwalk were reduced to splinters and the Seaside Park rollercoaster lay in the Atlantic Ocean.

At least four people were killed in the state. 5,500 people were in government shelters and more than 2.4 million were without power, Gov. Chris Christie said in a news conference, warning that recovery could take longer than eight days.

"There are no words to describe what so many New Jerseyians experienced over the last 24 hours," Mr. Christie said, adding, "The level of devastation at the Jersey Shore is unthinkable."

New York City was also among the hardest-hit areas, particularly the borough of Queens, where at least 80 homes were destroyed by fire in Breezy Point, a neighborhood at the tip of the Rockaway Peninsula. They included the residence of Republican Congressman Robert Turner, his deputy chief of staff confirmed.

"The clouds were glowing from the intense flames," said Joe Jordan, 59 years old, who spent the night with his three Yorkies on a damp couch as water rose three feet inside his house.

New York State Emergency Management officials confirmed five dead throughout the state, including three outside New York City, but said they did not have a complete tally.

In New Jersey, emergency responders in swift boats were still trying to rescue some Atlantic City residents Tuesday morning, among the estimated 3,000 who had not heeded calls to evacuate. Authorities were still trying to figure out what caused water to surge up the Hackensack River and inundate the 2,700 residents of the town of Moonachie in three to five feet of water.

It could have been electrical, the wind can tear wires loose and whip them all over the place. It happens down here once in a while. The difference is that down here our homes are much further apart than there.

More than 100,000 without electricity in Queens; may be a week before power is restored

The more than 108,000 Queens residents without power may have to wait at least a week before their electricity is restored.

More than three times the number of residents lost power during the storm in New York City than during Hurricane Irene last year.

“This is the largest storm-related outage in our history,” said Con Edison Senior Vice President for Electric Operations John Miksad.

Con Ed crews are currently out assessing damage and attempting to restore power.

Customers served by overhead power lines may need to wait at least a week before their electricity is restored.

“Its going to take a lot of patience,” said Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Senator Charles Schumer said the federal Department of Transportation will send crews to aid Con Ed in the restoration.

They are saying now that it is more like 80 or more homes that were burned in the Breezy Point community. The residents I have seen interviewed on the news so far appear to be blue-collar Whites.

That is what I'm thinking as well. One of the residents of the neighborhood that was on the news said her home was built in the 1800's. Those old houses were built mostly out of heart-pine - all the framing, subfloors, sheathing, decking - heart-pine is really rich, has all that natural resin in it, which makes it catch fire very easily, like it had been soaked in kerosine. A shortage from loose wiring getting whipped around by wind, a few sparks, then poof!

9 looters were arrested in Far Rockaway today and since Far Rockaway is 99% nigger we can safely assume the culprits were coons.

9 Arrested In Thefts Near Rockaways Amid Storm

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — Nine people have been arrested for allegedly stealing from businesses near the Rockaways in Queens during and after Superstorm Sandy.

Three people were arrested at a gas station, three at a Radio Shack, and two at a clothing store.



The Rockaway Peninsula was severely damaged by flooding and violent winds during the storm. Surges left Rockaway Beach inundated, and an out-of-control six-alarm fire destroyed more than 80 homes in the Breezy Point section of the peninsula Monday night.

The area was in the Evacuation Zone A delineated by Mayor Michael Bloomberg over the weekend. But many residents did not evacuate.

The theft incidents happened between Monday and Tuesday.
