Opinions on Walther firearms
Did a search and nothing came up on the forums. I've watched a bunch of YouTube videos, but I've always liked to get personal opinions from people who have experience with the object in question.
Any opinions on the quality/durability of Walther pistols? Specifically the Walther PPX1 chambered in 9MM?

My dad brought a 7.62mm PPK back with him from Germany after WWII. It was not new when he acquired it. He packed it for the remainder of his life, and I pack it with me to this day.
If the model you're looking at is anything like the one I have, you'll be very happy with it for a good long while. |

Try them
http://www.waltherforums.com/forum/ppx/ Best to look at what model the police, military and special forces are issued with, as these are rigorously field tested, for use under all conditions. http://www.carl-walther.de/cw.php?la...tal&sub=police The pistol is used by the German Police in North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate[2] and has been ordered by Bremen, Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein, the Polish Police and the Finnish Army's special forces and military police, where it carries the designation PIST 2003 (Pistooli 2003).[3] The Walther P99Q was also chosen in 2012 to replace older pistols and revolvers of the Finnish Police, Customs and Border Guard. This gun has also been chosen to replace the Walther P5 of the Dutch Police in 2013.[4] Canada: SPVM (City of Montréal Police Service)[22][23] and SPVQ (Service de Police de la Ville de Québec), École nationale de police du Québec, Services correctionnels Québec, Constables spéciaux Ministère de la sécurité publique.[citation needed] Estonia: In 2014 the Estonian Police will be armed with the P99Q, as a replacement for the currently used Makarov pistol.[24] Finland: Used by the Finnish Defence Forces as the PIST 2003 (Pistooli 2003).[25] The Walther P99Q has also been chosen as the new personal handgun for police, customs and border guard personnel (7,800 pistols).[4][26] Germany: 41,000 P99DAO pistols purchased in 2005 for the North Rhine-Westphalia Police.[27][28] The State police of Rhineland-Palatinate procurred approx. 10,000 units of the P99Q. The P99Q has also been ordered by the police forces of Hamburg (8,000 pistols), Bremen (2,000 pistols) and Schleswig-Holstein (8,000 pistols) with deliveries between 2009 and 2017.[29] Iraq: Iraqi Army uses 19,000+ P99s.[citation needed] Ireland: Garda Síochána; National Surveillance Unit (P99c), National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (P99c), Special Detective Unit, Emergency Response Unit.[30] Malaysia: Royal Malaysia Police (20,000 pistols).[31][32] Netherlands: In 2013 the Dutch police will be armed with the P99Q, as a replacement for the currently used Walther P5 (45,000 pistols).[33][34][35] Poland:[36] P99 AS/QA/DAO and domestic variant RAD are made by Łucznik Arms Factory.[37] Police received around 70,000 units and ordered further 10,000.[38] Portugal[39] Turkey: Police Special Operations Department uses copy of P99 by Canik Arms, labeled as Canik TP9.[40][41] Ukraine: SBU[42] United Kingdom: Nottinghamshire Police armed specialist units use the P990DAO.

They don't like steel case ammo, Donnie. Other than that, I've heard good things about them. Walther makes very good quality firearms. They also make a cool MP5 A5SD under license from HK ( I have one). I usually carry a Sig Equinox .45 or my USP, and have a PPK for my ankle. I wish they made the PPK in 9 mil. It would be the perfect carry gun ( in my opinion ).

The guy in this video is mainly reviewing concealed carry options for summer apparel, but goes into an extemporaneous tribute of the Walther PPS about halfway through.

Read Jeff Cooper but, first, make up your mind why you're carrying...

Good choice, but HK just released the long awaited VP9. I was lucky to be included in a pre-ordered group buy. 550.00 for the LE model. I cannot believe I'm getting an HK for under 1,000.000!

At the end of the day, it's the bullet that matters.
When you care enough to send the very best, as they say.
