Greek-Canadians Film Captures Golden Dawn

By Margarita Papantoniou on April 5, 2013 in Culture, Events, News, Video

The Greek-Canadian cinematographers Filippos Balabanos and Peter James have written, directed and produced a 29-minute film called Dichotomus which focuses on the sudden and surprise rise of the neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party in Greece, a country which fought Nazis tooth-and-nail in WWII.

The premiere was set for a Montreal cinema on April 6, with part of the earnings will be offered to the project Hope for Greece that collects financial aid for the country.

The film follows two strangers, Nick Dysmas (Peter James), a photojournalist who has been covering the rise of the Golden Dawn in Greece and who returns to his hometown somewhere in North America, and a character known only as the “Chief” – the leader of the local Golden Dawn chapter.

Through a twist of fate, their roads converge leading them down a path which will test their beliefs and endanger everything they hold dear. Dysmas and the Chief are strangers with nothing in common, but a love for a broken nation on the other side of the world. But they are both searching for the same thing: redemption.

Dichotomus is part of a trilogy. The first part is called Pseudocracy and will be projected at the official films selection of Greek Film & Foto Week Festival, in Toronto on May from the Greek-American Foundation.

James and Balabanos stated: “The film exposes the party for what it really is, namely an ultra-nationalist and far-right party. We are of Greek descent and just a year after Golden Dawn’s official election in the Parliament, we find out that no one has shown the real dangers from the party’s existence. yeah, just a 24/7 global media smear campaign There may be dozens of reports but we considered essential to explore the fascist ideology of the group that spews hate and is riding a wave of growing social unrest in crisis-stricken Greece.”

World Jewish domination approaching zero hour

Quote:
Recent dramatic developments in Cyprus, set in an authoritative way once again devastating question: All this done in the European South, derive solely from bulimia Merkel and the gang, as they claim the media or are part of a larger project, which carefully concealed from the world?

The answer is very simple, if anyone bothered to analyze the goals and the role of international "players" of global geopolitical "chessboard".

The time spent by mankind is really crucial. The former sole superpower, the U.S., realize that if it continues its rapid growth in Russia and China, and the penetration and expansion of their influence across the length and breadth of the land, is a matter of time (no more than ten to fifteen years from now ) to bring complete overthrow of the existing geopolitical balance and the permanent loss of global hegemony. What we are not willing to tolerate and prepare their forces to prevent it.

Within the framework of this recasting-deployment forces for upcoming geopolitical conflict "East" - "West" should look at all the interpretations of otherwise apparent and often deliberately misleading, global political and economic developments.

The forces that make up this "dipole", delineating the historical coordinates of our age and act like huge geopolitical catalysts, "polarizing" the existing components of the international environment, to one or another center of power. The geopolitical tug of war this is what explains the sudden "madness" and the unprecedented (for the postwar period) wilderness "partners", we can rapidly and completely control the minor state entities hinterland, sucking the last vitality of their forces in an attempt to raise the maximum force in the shortest possible time (to prevent the opponent as possible unprepared), tying them firmly in the "chariot" and removing "vital space" Extension of the opponent. The competition is ruthless and extends to all areas and at all levels. Economic, military, commercial, scientific, etc.

The sionistokratoumenes U.S. "heart" of sionistokratoumenis "West" trying to cut all the "tentacles" of Russian penetration in the western world, affecting the economic and strangling the geopolitical (this includes the case of Cyprus).

Having (the amerikanosionistes) build all institutions of postwar Europe (including the EEC and the EU), "redeem" now offered assistance to Member pawns (mainly Germany), taking back multiple resources and geopolitical benefits through states and even without being seen at all (the U.S.). using appropriate media propaganda, the "load" all the "damned" Germany. Sionistokratoumeni postwar Germany, ghost of herself to the necessary cultivated hatred between the peoples of Europe, that there is no case, they can "find" once together and cooperate.

At the same time, even temporarily close all 'open wounds' of the various conflicts in the regions of influence, to have secured their backs when they turn completely to the east "enemy." Hence the Kurdish and Palestinian, since they can not be resolved otherwise, desperately seeking the highest possible appeasement. Within the same reasons they created the "Arab Spring" in Libya, Tunisia and Egypt, while trying to disengage from Afghanistan and Iraq, transferring forces landmark. The concentration of effort at one point is crucial for the outcome of the conflict, and consequently the "settlement" (albeit temporarily) where "insiders" to the Western world problems, imperative.

And the point of interest is none other than that of Syria and then Iran (two strategic partners of Russia) to 'throttled' geopolitically Russia to limit any potential maneuver gradually shrink and simultaneously fomenting internal unrest collapse.

The alliance between Russia and China attempted to defend deadly 'embracing', trying to gain time, because time "works" for them. They have divided the world into two regions businesses. In this Pacific amerikanosionistiki where the threat attempts to address China's main opposition-sponsored by amerikanosionistes Japan and the Mediterranean region and the Middle East, where the defense organized by Russia.

Today's Japan, a real disgrace to the human story, given that for the sake of prosperity of its financial indicators, went so far as to become the closest ally to the State which has committed against the greatest crime of all time, killing some seconds hundreds of thousands of citizens, is another "Germany" in the Far East, traitor visions of people and organ of amerikanosoniston.

Many could add one, on this issue. But most important of all erudite analyzes, is the answer to the question: What should Greece do within this maze of developments? "Collection whoever freely thinks well," said King Feraios. Which means in our case that the first thing to do is to throw off the Greek people above him in the next elections, "leprosy" of the parties' constitutional arch ". That is to be released. These minions of amerikanosioniston that on various pretexts prevent patriotism turn into nationalism, should the Greek people to send them in forever 'Keadas' history. Nationalism Why is the active patriotism and active patriotism is only guaranteed by a National Government. Without National Government can not expect anything! This is the first step.

Now what will come to Greece if the global conflict prevail "allies" (the world's "democratic Arc"), we know very well. People like Repousi of KPS and Theodoridis SYRIZA will be displayed by the media as the new major historians, philosophers and sociologists. Ie something like Thucydides, Aristotle and Isocrates. Perhaps the "brilliant" these executives of the parties' constitutional and democratic Arc "pleria a" democratic "future global society, be considered right-wing and humanity to lead to even more" progressive "societies.

So the decision for us, if we do not want to see our children be nurtured with the "ideals" of these people, is one way. Strengthening the prospect of a national government. Strengthening namely the Popular Association Golden Dawn. We have no choice but to avoid enlisting in the Zionist beast which required us drag, what blackmailing dilemmas though we impose. Not that we want global domination of China or Russia, but certainly one multipolar world in balance, ensures very best terms and conditions for the welfare and dignity of people and nations, in relation to the aim of Zionism, internationalist totalitarianism.

The poet Nikos Gatsos decades ago gave the vivid poetic speech, agonizing battle of Hellenism for the historical survival:

In the rugged mountains
with sourafli and zourna
on stone the holy
dancing now three brave.
Nikiforos and Digenis
and the son of Anna Comnena.

Theirs is a land peel
but you, my Lord blesses them
to escape this skin
from the jackal and the bear.
.......................................

From Epirus to Moria
and from darkness to freedom
The festival lasts years
Death of the marble threshing.
Judge and master it 'God
and dragoman of the People.

Default Jew speaking for Australians as he knows what is best for them

Cloud over Golden Dawn

E-mail this story

April 8, 2013 by J-Wire Staff

The Executive Council of Australian Jewry has spoken out against the reported formation of an Australian branch of a Greek political party founded by a Holocaust denier.

Golden Dawn, according to Fairfax Media, has been established in Melbourne since 2010 and now plans to open an office and host visits from members of the party active in Greece. Fairfax say that the visits are scheduled for October and name two politicians “who once threatened to raid hospitals and kindergartens and throw immigrants and their children out on the street so that Greeks could take their place”.

Peter Wertheim, the Executive Director of The Executive Council of Australian Jewry, told J-Wire: ““Golden Dawn’s” ideology combining ultra nationalism with racism is repugnant to Australia’s ethos of egalitarianism and the fair go. Those who seek to introduce their perverse hatreds into our peaceful country will not be welcome here”.

Former Swedish MP: I was gay-bashed on vacation in Greece

SDGLN Staff

April 8th, 2013

Swedish actor and former MP Tasso Stafilidis says he was gay-bashed while vacationing in Greece.

ATHENS, Greece – Swedish actor and former MP Tasso Stafilidis tells a Swedish newspaper that he and a friend were gay-bashed while on vacation in Greece.

Stafilidis, who is of Greek heritage, said three masked men confronted them on the street, first yelling anti-gay slurs at them and then kicking and punching them.

“Our first thought was that they would rob us,” he told Aftonbladet.

The victims suffered bruises and cuts to the body and the head.

Stafilidis was the first openly gay member of Parliament, and he served from 1998 to 2006. The 41-year-old is now out of politics and is operations manager of the Gothenburg Culture Festival and operations manager for West Pride, LGBTQ Festival, according to Aftonbladet.

In the article, Stafilidis said that Greece’s economic crisis has stirred up a wave of right-wing extremism. A neo-Nazi party called Golden Dawn, which is anti-gay and anti-immigrant, won 18 seats in the Greek Parliament in the last election. The former MP ties the economic crisis to growing intolerance in Greece.

“These things go hand-in-hand when a country’s prosperity collapses,” he said.

From a Greek community paper in Australia.

http://neoskosmos.com/news/en/the-ph...ce-golden-dawn

Quote:
The phantom menace

Who are Golden Dawn in Melbourne? A 200 strong political party as mainstream media claim or is it one person blurting rhetoric and propaganda from a hotmail account?

8 Apr 2013

Australian media - as well as international press - have this week reported on Greek political party Golden Dawn's presence in Melbourne. The reports - armed with Nazi rhetoric and subsequent fear - have informed mainstream Australians that a Greek Nazi party has formed in Australia. But should we be concerned by this said 'presence' when we don't know who Golden Dawn in Melbourne really are?

"This is nothing more than misinterpreted information," Nicholas Kotsiras, Minister for Multiculturalism and Citizenship, tells Neos Kosmos. "It is wrong and simply propaganda in an attempt to win some sympathy."
He said that Golden Dawn has "no place in Greece" and is not and will never be welcomed in Melbourne.

The media reported that the Greek far-right political party had in fact set up a Melbourne chapter. And where did they get this information from? A letter sent to the media - including Neos Kosmos - from a hotmail account.

The letter sent by 'Golden Dawn Melbourne' was in response to an article in The Age entitled Ban sought on far-right Greek party about a petition signed by Immigration Minister Brendan O'Connor to prevent the entry into Australia by 18 Golden Dawn parliamentarians from Greece.

In the letter, Golden Dawn Melbourne said they had set up a chapter in Melbourne to "raise awareness of the current political situation in Greece to Greek Australians".

However, Neos Kosmos has contacted this email address, on a number of occasions, to clarify details about the party, such as names and total members involved, and the response has been that a solicitor of the party will contact us with the details. Even in the letter, Golden Dawn Melbourne mentioned that if journalists continued to "harass individual members" of the party, they would face legal action. Problem is, no one knows who these individual members - if they are in fact members (plural) - are.

"Golden Dawn is an embarrassment and an insult to Hellenism and what Greece has stood for and fought for over the years," said Mr Kotsiras.

Even though the letter suggested a list of facts by the party, including "If it is OK for Israel to have only Jews as its citizens, then I'm sure the oldest race in the world, the Hellenic race, has a right to only have Hellenes in our country as citizens", when this is simply untrue, the facts that we have are:

* all communication from Golden Dawn comes from one email, a hotmail account, that anyone can open. An account that any person with internet access can create using any name chosen by them. For example, you can go out right now and open a Hotmail account entitled [email protected] because you like bananas. Because of this, we can not confirm that Golden Dawn are in fact a 'party' as such. For all we know, it could just be coming from one person.

* the reports suggested that Golden Dawn's Melbourne chapter was alive and, literally, kicking this year when they 'hijacked' the Greek National Independence Day and clashes ensued. The truth? There were four people at the march wearing Golden Dawn paraphernalia who stood on the sidelines and watched - hardly a hijack and clash now is it?

* the reports misquoted Neos Kosmos saying that the Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard will not be banning the 18 Greek Golden Dawn MPs from entering the country. Even the PM herself has the nous not to give a political party, made up of archaic and dangerous nationalist ideologies, any legs.

The truth is we have no proof that Golden Dawn actually exists in Melbourne, that they have a party. A few people seen at a march wearing a Golden Dawn jumper should hardly ignite concern and fear that they will create - or have created - a chapter here. After all, their policies on immigration go against the very grain, the very nature of Greek Australian existence in the Antipodes. Hypocrisy at its best; thy name is Golden Dawn.

Neo-Nazi Golden Dawn Thugs Clash with Roma in Kalamata Hospital Raid

Anti-foreign nurse swoop on Peloponnese hospital explodes in violence as Roma patient's friends confront Nazis

The row came days after a leading member of a Roma settlement in Komotini, northern Greece, threatened Golden Dawn with a provocative video on YouTube.

In the footage, two Roma men wield guns, axes and chainsaws and dare the neo-Nazi party to launch a raid on their camp. "You will have to send a lot of guys to my camp," says one man.

Addressing Nikos Michaloliakos, chairman of Golden Dawn, the unnamed Roma leader brags about having many "crazy guys" watching his back.

"Michaloliakos, round up your mongrels," says the man.

As a Greek, I can tell you that the people who are voting for these Nazis largely do so as a form of protest.
Absolutely, but the problem is that voters throughout Europe are being pushed towards right leaning political groups by the governments who are / have been in power over the last 10 to 15 years.

The UKIP are well enough known to UK voters but Germany, Austria, Holland, Finland and France all have right wing parties who the respective populaces would turn to in their millions if the were asked to tolerate 10% of the austerity being forced on the Greeks, Spaniards or Portugese.

Truly dangerous times, good luck in Greece and hopefully your country won't make a terrible situation even worse by giving these clowns any more power[.]

@siren45 - The Greek Communist Party or KKE is Stalinist and mutely accepts the crimes of Joseph Stalin. It is closer to North Korea than any other European leftist party.

People say the KKE is not as bad as Golden Dawn, but the KKE is also an enemy of parliamentary democracy. The only thing it isn't is officially racist and anti-semitic.

Once the economy starts growing again and once the doomsday scenarios are disproved, they will disappear as quickly as the rose.

Mm hopefully- and while I may sound alarmist-lets not forget that is- precisely- what reasonable Germans said about the Nazis in the economic chaos of the 1930s.

Its a dangerous game to tolerate or 'use' them in anyway-the point is to learn from history - not repeat it

It is simply naive to believe that 10% of the Greek population actually turned Nazi within the space of one year.
It's simply naive to think the vote went from 0% to 10% in one year as well. It's a growing movement with absolutely no evidence or indication of slowing down yet.

Quote:
We can be pretty sure that these criminals have already reached their electoral ceiling. Once the economy starts growing again and once the doomsday scenarios are disproved, they will disappear as quickly as the rose.
Why can we be pretty sure? What evidence is there making you pretty sure? Once the economy starts growing? Another confident prediction, one not taking into account the monumental shift of economic power from west to east. Nothing is certain when it comes to the financial prospects of Europe.

I'm not saying it's time for panic on the streets, just that dismissing the meteoric rise in power of an ultra right wing political force in a European democracy as casually as you appear to do strikes me as being careless.

As half-Greek Half-Egyptian with Muslim name (which is of great difference from being half-Greek half-Lebanese orthodox, or carrying any other orthodox name or European name and live there), and growing up in the provinces of Greece rather in Athens, from the very early dates it was more than obvious to me that a great majority of Greeks are to some degree racists, living in dark ages, believing to be the "Super-smart nation", full of complexities and adapting a second rated culture in terms of ethnicity, religion and identity. A lot of Greeks they espouse some of the inner believes of GD, but might not necessary vote for it ... right now.

Where i was surprised was by the initial reactions of the public once the GD first entered the parliament with 3+% and.... everybody was trying to make fan of them, trying to convince that this was a joke, that still there was a time to correct the mistake etc etc .... fools to max !

Certainly, the economic crisis played role, but in the same time unveiled what a lot of us knew at least 30 years ago, it was very easy actually to pick those sentiments hidden in the Greek society.

You could have tested the Greek hospitality for instance, if you were an immigrant from Albania had a child to grow up in Greece. On the surface everything works fine, but these little details and TESTING those attitudes is what matters.

Can any Greek here, tell me whether you know or exist any second/third Generation Albanian that works as a manager in a private company, or in the public sector or in the army ? Or for instance can any Greek here tell me among all those millions of Greek-Muslims in Northern nobody existed good enough such to be promoted to play at any of the Greek national teams? Can any Greek here tell me among the few Muslim MPs that exist why nobody appears in nationally broadcasted channels??
That's the other part of Greece that rarely anyone acknowledged for obvious reasons. As I used to say, Greeks are full of contradictions, immature and awfully educated.

The more people are trying to hide those inconvenient truths the more we keep our eyes blind trying to justify those the more ingrained such hazardous ideologies will become, and the more the society will tolerate.

They want the same thing the Nazis wanted with Germans all around the world-- they wanted them to re-unite with the "homeland". There were many German-speaking people from Eastern Europe to South America to the US who "returned" to Germany to join up. Same thing is happening here with Greeks around the world.

@siren45 - Of course you change the narrative to fit your agenda. The vote for Syriza WAS a protest vote. Syriza has open Chairman Maoists and Trotskyists in it, "radical" is even in their name. They ran on a platform that they wouldn't pay the debt, but after they got their votes they are now just another party of leftist liars. You do know every Leftist movement in history has been in the pocket of the bankers, even October 1917 was bankrolled by Jacob Schiff on Wall Street and sold caucus oil fields to foreign multi-nationals!

Syriza could've prevented austerity measures from passing by resigning, with all their parliament seats they could've forced a new election and likely have won. Golden Dawn would've done that, and put a halt to this illegal debt created by traitors and predatory bankers. Syriza is another party of the bankers.

Golden Dawn is the only true anti-austerity party. Those "protest" votes by Greeks seem to have doubled, and as time goes on and the treason from the democrats and the Marxists becomes more open, Golden Dawn will continue to grow. It's the only honest party, that is why the Guardian hates it so much.

@msh855 - I sympathise with someone like you living in Greece as a Greek with a Muslim name and can understand your complaints and bitterness. But there are a few things you haven't mentioned that influence the character of the modern Greek nation:

(1) Greece was until recent memory occupied by a brutal Muslim people who made sure you knew that while the Muslim citizen had rights and many privileges, you as a Christian were sub-human unless you converted to Islam (and most but not all Greeks refused to convert to Islam).

(2) The massacres inflicted by Muslim (Turkish, Egyptian and Albanian) overlords in Greece on Greek Christians in places like the Greek islands and the Peloponnese, and especially on Crete -- places where Christian resistance against Muslim oppression and misrule was strongest -- resulted in blood thirsty massacres with in some places 100% of the population being wiped out. Reports of these massacres are well documented in the English and West European press.

And while you quite rightly complain that as someone of Egyptian Muslim background you aren't welcomed with open arms in Greece today (this is wrong) nevertheless let us not forget that in Morsai's Egypt, the Muslim Brotherhood believes Coptic Christians (and Greek Christians) should all be kicked out of Egypt and only "pure Muslims" should be allowed to live and prosper in this ancient land. And we won't even mention the progroms against the Greeks, who lived in Egypt since the times of Alexander, who founded Alexandria, under Gamal Abdul Nasser, forcing the exit of virtually the whole of this ancient community.

If you compare your treatment as a Muslim in Britain with Greece, don't forget that Britain was never brutally occupied for 400 years by a bloodthirsty Muslim power and that Muslims in Britain tend to obey the law and accept the status quo.

As any anthropologist or political scientist will tell you, nations are a product of their history and Greece is a product of the most violent Muslim occupation Europe has ever seen, with more than 60% of its population killed by Muslim occupation forces.

No excuse for racism in any form, but where it does exist it is worth investigating why it exists for this helps us to fight it and eliminate it. Expansionist Muslim Neo-Ottoman Turks and Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood on Greece's borders don't help create a good feeling about Islam in Greece.

@oyoyva - I just heard on the (Greek) news that GD doctors are offering free medical tests to anyone with Greek nationality. In response the medical profession has issued a statement condemning any doctor who refuses to treat patients of all races and creeds equally.

GD are offering very practical, instant help to the most vulnerable sectors of the population in a way that no other political party does. And when you are desperate you tend not to look at the hand that's feeding you.

[That's the key. It's kind of like a business. What do people need done? Do it. Get their money, their vote, their thanks, their support, their loyalty.]

Globalisation and the common currency have finally reached their end game in Greece. All Western societies will eventually go through the same decline, unless lawless banking ends.
I still don't know if GD are just a beefy theatrical troupe, since nobody has opposed the new law that threatens to pawn every Greek's private property. I'll bet most Greeks don't even know about that.
So GD feeds and cures some Greeks. Well done.

Not long ago some Anarchists bombed a commercial (instead of investment) bank and killed 3 people, including a pregnant woman. It was no accident either, after they throw the initial molotov cocktail and caused a fire, they dropped 2 to the exit so the workers couldn't get out. The Anarchists laughed and jeered as a woman 5 months pregnant cried for them to help from the 3rd floor of the Marfan bank.

Thats good, you're beginning to get the picture. The globalist/financial/banker capitalists types want mass immigration and no borders. The left & liberals want the same.

Mr Fat Cat wants cheap labour does he say so? Of course not, he's got the left, UAF etc to do it for him - for free! The invention of 'racism' and more importantly anti-racism has to be one of the greatest tricks the elite have ever pulled off.

@Marcog - Not true. Germany and France are in fact to blame for the current woes of Greece. Here's why:

Before Greece entered the eurozone, credit for both industry, agriculture and individuals was limited. To buy a house you needed cash or a very large deposit and good contacts to get a mortgage. So Greeks were accustomed to more or less living within their means (times when Greece had gone bust in the past were due to the country's continuous attempts to defend its borders against aggressors).

Once Greece entered the eurozone, prices shot up and credit became easy to get, whether you could pay the money back or not. German and French companies in particular aggressively promoted their exports in Greece and when told that Greece had no cash, Paris and Berlin arranged for French and German banks to grant Greece billions in credit, even though the Greek economy couldn't sustain such heavy borrowing.

That's why the French and Germans in particular are clearly the main culprits in this sad affair -- the push for exports at any price has destroyed the economies of half the eurozone.

@SCFCAlex - Not true. Half of the Greek police force are not members of Golden Dawn.

At the most, 10 - 20% are GD sympathisers.

Some 40% ted to support Conservative New Democracy and 30% the Pasok Socialists.

Police unions and representatives tend to be New Democracy Conservative or Pasok Socialist. Most of their campaigns are aimed at improving pay and conditions as well as training.

Greek police have carried out many raids against GD supporters and sympathisers for a variety of offences and many have been charged. The new breed of Greek police academy graduate is different from the mostly uneducated lot that served during the 1967-74 military junta.

It will be interesting to see the kind of reception the Australian government gives to Golden Dawn should that organisation try to open an office in Melbourne or Sydney (the two most likely cities that GD will penetrate). Should GD adopt a program opposing the intake of refugees arriving by boat from Sri Lanka and western Asia, and offer money to politicians in vital seats in the months leading up to this year's general election for campaigns (and which the politicians might take), would the Australian government and the opposition then resist GD's entry later?

Golden Dawn is anti-ILLEGAL immigration.
Over 99% of the Greeks in Australia immigrated to Australia legally, and went through background and medical checks upon arrival.

On the other hand, Greece, which is already bankrupt, has been flooded by as many as 3 million undocumented ILLEGAL immigrants from nations such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Syria, Libya,Sub-Saharan African nations, etc.

There's a big difference there. Are you smart enough to spot the glaring difference between the two?

@Rememberthegulag - Golden Dawn is anti - ILLEGAL immigration into Greece. i.e. Golden Dawn wants to enforce existing Greek immigration laws and deport all foreigners residing illegaly in Greece.
This is nothing to do with Nazism. Get your facts straight.
Every nation in the world has the right to deport illegal immigrants.
There are between 1 to 3 million illegal immigrants residing in Greece, they have been pouring into Greece at the rate of 100000 per year, and Greek citizens who are getting murdered, raped and robbed by these illegal foreigners every day, are voting for Golden Dawn because Golden Dawn is the only political party serious about deporting these illegals.
Don't be racist towards Greece and Greeks! You might not be aware of this, but Greece is a sovereign nation, and has the right ot enfore border controls and to deport illegal immigrants! This does not make any political party that supports enforcing Greece's immigration laws "Nazi".

Excerpts from the above article followed by some corrections.

"The group – whose logo resembles the swastika and whose members are prone to give Nazi salutes"

Correction: The Golden Dawn political party uses the Ancient Greek Meander, or Maiandros. Ok. So it has some right angles, but that does not mean that it is related at all to the Swastika. Trying to associate Ancient Greek symbols with the Third Reich is either deliberately deceptive or ignorant!

Greek Australian leftists have begun collecting protest signatures to bring pressure on the Australia immigration minister, Brendan O'Connor, to prohibit Golden Dawn MPs from entering the country.

Wait a minute. Golden Dawn is a registered political party in EU and Eurozone member Greece. It was voted into parliament (Democratic process) by close to half a million Greeks in June 2012, and 9 months later all polls in Greece show that it's support has doubled, i.e. there are now at least 1 million Greek citizens who support Golden Dawn.
Indeed Golden Dawn MP Eleni Zaroulia became member of the Committee on equality and non-discrimination of the Parliamentary assembly of the Council of Europe in October 2012.
If the Australian government were to deny visas to elected Golden Dawn MP's this would be an affront and an insult to the Greek political system and to the democratic right of Greek voters to vote for whoever they want to vote for. It would also be an insult to the Council of Europe!
This would actually be a very fascist thing to do!

"These people and their principles will never be accepted in our community. Their beliefs are alien to our beliefs and way of life," said Nikos Mouyiaris, co-founder of the Chicago-based Hellenic American Leadership Council (HALC),

Really? One has to laugh when some people who are no doubt approaching retirement age, or are past retirement age, and hold a post in a community organization think that they can make a general statement speaking for the majority of members of that community. The fact is that in any community organization, only a very small number of people in that community actually know anything about the organization or participate meaninfully in that organization. There are hundreds of thousands of people of Greek ethnic heritage in Chicago, and i'd guess that 90% of then have not so much as given 5 cents to this organization or 10 minutes of there time in listening to what this organization has to say. What arrogance then for this man 'Nikos Mouyiaris' to say that the views of a democratically elected Greek political party will never be accepted in by people of Greek ethnicity who live in Chicago. When New Democracy and PASOK politicians who have annihalated Greece's economy and have been involved in bribe scandal after bribe scandal visit the USA and Chicago, does Nikos Mouyiaris dare to say that the Greek people in Chicago won't ever accept New Democracy and PASOKs political ideology?

Father Lambros Kamperidis, a Greek Orthodox priest in Montreal said the really bad thing is that in opening here it gives the impression, to people who don't know the situation, that it is supported by a lot of Greeks, which is not the case.

Really? How does this person " Father Lambros Kamperidis" know this?
Has he spoken to every person of Greek ethnicity in Montreal about their views of Golden Dawn? Really. What arrogance to think that he knows what level of support Golden Dawn has amongst Greeks living in Montreal!

"This is a multicultural society. They are not wanted or welcome here," said one prominent member of Melbournes Greek community, requesting anonymity(i.e. a coward) when talk turned to the group.
Yet again more arrogance and delusion. Melbourne has 300000 people of Greek ethnicity. It is extremely arrogant and delusional for any member of that community (no matter how prominent his ego leads him/her to believe they are) to pretend they can make a general statement on behalf of 300000 people who they don't know personally and who never voted for them in any sense at all.

Greece's struggle against fascism, during one of Europe's most brutal Nazi occupations?
This omits some glaring facts of history. The leader of Greece who fought against the Fascist Italian invasion was Ioannis Metaxas, who was a fascist, and everyone from soldiers to schoolchildren in Greece at that time, saluted using the Ancient Greek/Ancient Roman salute, which today is more commonly believed to be a Nazi salute. This salute existed in Ancient Sparta(Greece) and Ancient Rome thousands of years before the Nazis of the 3rd Reich adopted it.

To close off, Golden Dawn is the 3rd most popular political party in Greece, well on it's way to being the 2nd most popular political party.

Amongst 18 - 25 year olds Golden Dawn is the number 1 most popular party in Greece, and similarly holds first place in Greek high schools (who will mostly be of voting age come the June 2016 Greek national elections).

Whenever I read stories about the GD, they are described by the authors as hateful and labeled with vile names. Almost without exception, there will be no attempt to explain how the GD was felt to be needed by its members, as if it sprang to life by magic. The Greek people were bitter and formidable enemies of that which they are accused of becoming, something does not sound right in this story. Maybe the authors are leaving out key facts.
I would like to see authors mention how populations of proud nation states are being made to feel foreigners in their own nations by the worshipping of multiculturalism and diversity.
I would like to see mention made of how political parties are using massive 3rd world immigration for profit, power, and punishment of their political enemies.
Too many Globalists and open border multiculturalists are out to obliterate the nation state and think they can change x and y and z will stay the same while they do their dirty work. However, z is waking up.

@paleologue - Here's a real history listen, the Greeks actually fought the Italians alone under leader Ioannis Metaxas, the man who Greeks commemorate as saying "OXI" (No) to the Italian ultimatum.

Metaxas was anti-British as well, and would reject continuous "offers" by the British to "help " the Greek war effort. Suddenly, when the Italians were repelled and a peace agreement was being worked out with the Germans that would've saved countless Greek lives in a war they didn't want, Metaxas "suddenly" died (under mysterious circumstances, read: poisoned) and was replaced by an Anglophile prime minister. First thing this new prime minister did while in office was invite a British expeditionary force onto Greek soil, the Germans only invaded Greece after that.

Do a little research before commenting. The British are just as responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Greeks, especially when they blockaded Greek ports and prevented food imports, as the Germans were.

@sasboy - Low information people are not aware that pluralism has been causing untold problems for years now, with France having, on average, 100 vehicles torched in any given night of the week, with thousands torched nightly when riots erupt, which is often.

There are "no go" zones even the police are afraid to enter due to anti-French, anti-white sentiment within immigrant groups in their own countries.

All of Europe has been inundated with crime by immigrants with natives in every country attacked by them, but such news is not being reported by the mainstream press and is only available on internet news sites.

Immigrant protests vary from a demand to invoke Sharia law to rabid haters carrying signs, as in Britain, declaring their military heroes should be killed for fighting Muslims.

All this is just a wee bit of the chaos that goes on constantly.

The reason people like you side with leftist ideologues is because you have been brainwashed and propagandized into accepting selected data, very much typical of what the Nazis promoted and the Maoists, Stalinists, et al.

America is beset with the same kind of rabid leftists and have EXACTLY the same problems. But it is all coming to a head, as the world economy continues to implode. We are seeing the beginning of the collapse of pluralism stretched to an unnatural degree by people who are mentally disturbed.

Now before anyone flies off the handle at my remarks, they should really consider what's happening around the world. Take America for instance. Whites, so proud of their "tolerance" are finding themselves soon to be a minority in their own country. And those immigrants that are taking over don't even like white people. They are for their OWN ethnic group, PERIOD. Don't anyone dare tell me I lie. But some will say "But America is a nation of immigrants." . This idiot slogan is only used by fools or by invaders. These Greeks, I'm so proud of them, are finally standing up for themselves. For their very HOMES. "Fascists" "Nazis", etc., these mere words are meant to be used as weapons against people that merely want to hold on to their identity and existence. Yes their EXISTENCE. It has inculcated a mentally conditioned mindset in many adherents to the point where they drink the Kool Aid, like the programmed zombies at Jonestown years ago, and go berserk at any attempts to thwart their demented plans.

Golden Dawn is no more of a Nazi organization than the American Tea Party, but both are identified by the propagandists as exactly that, and it's all plain nonsense.

They should get used to it. Diversity is an abominable scheme to create an unnatural society and it is falling apart, not by any efforts of the Tea Party or Golden Dawn, but by the simple fact that homogeneous societies are naturally unified and multicultural ones are not and lead to dissension and conflict.

There is yet another reason Golden Dawn has seen a surge in its popularity. When I was in Greece, everyone was concerned with the excessive number of illegal immigrants and the rise in violent crime. Ordinary Greeks were suddenly exposed to unprecedented violence, hardcore criminals, many of whom were illegal immigrants. Golden Dawn vigilantes sometimes filled the vacuum that the lack of police presence brought. Their slogan is something like "to de-stink (cleanse) the country". Often times, it was the only "protection" some people were able to get against criminal gangs.
Their global initiative makes no sense though. They opened an office here in Queens in NYC! NYC's outer boroughs are heavily populated by immigrants! Not very smart.

In all sincerity between the Guardian framing absurd numbers of border violators as "immigrants" and trying to whitewash the former Yugoslavians bizarre attempts to usurp our very identity, it seems like some of editorial board of the Guardian are literally trying to delete the Greek people. The only good Greek to the Guardian these days seems to be any "Greek" they can selectively quote mine to delete our identity not to include ancient Greeks (i.e. commit ethnic suicide)

The Guardian goes on-and-on about far right Greek extremists, but says essentially nothing to criticize far leftist extremists. In practice there is far more violence in Greece perpetuated by leftist and anarchist extremists but one would never know it reading this alleged news organization.

While GD are extreme, a news organization criticizing one far end of political spectrum while staying virtually silent about the other political extreme is implicitly crypto-support for it. For instance, Greek communists (see Syriza) are even disturbingly treated as "human rights" experts by the Guardian? Pardon my english but wtf?

I don't agree with Golden Dawn but I can see the reasons why it arose. Once the middle ground collapsed due to the mess they made of our fiances and the foreigners seemingly out to ethnically erase us, political extremism really took off in Greece The left now takes anti-nationalism and anti-racism to the point of absurdly of being anti-Greek (pathetically trying to show foreigners trying to delete us how we are all fellow comrades). It has lead to the counter reaction of Greeks that don't want to join the leftist Borg collective seemingly intent on turning us into a non-Greeks.

We all know the evils of fascism but lets not forget the evils of communism Didn't we just spend the better part of 70 years trying to rid the world of the cult called communism? What happened to moderation?

@herodot - Lets also not forget the soviet socialists also "bravely" agreed to partition Poland with the nationalist socialists. (effectively amounting to a subtle attempt to ethnically erase Poles). The soviets also murdered millions of both their own citizens and armed others to murder millions more.

Stalin had no issue with sacrificing ethnic groups because the communists took anti-nationalism to extremes. They threw around ethnic identities like they are playing cards. (see non-existent Yugoslavia to see the devistating effects of their polices that ended up fuelling ethnic hatred rather than combating it)

The soviets oppressed free speech and encouraged dictatorship in country's around the world. Those that have any nostalgia over the Soviet Union are mentally ill. We'd all be like the North Koreans are today if mostly the moderate right and left hadn't fought against far leftist extremism.

Today the Guardian editorial board treat Greek communist degenerates as human rights activists. Its incredibly offensive interfering in my country's sovereign politics in this manner and deeply disturbing.

@simplemen - You first need to get your facts straight to understand why GD has arisen because you have no idea what you are talking about.

a. ILLEGALS are not "immigrants'. Most of our illegals further violate laws while staying in the country from working illegally in the country, to engaging in petty crimes, to even a serious spike in violent crime. They are not all "victims' simply because they entered our country illegally

Crypto-marxist fantasies of the Guardian editorial board of a borderless world aside, in the real world immigrants first ask to immigrate then are reviewed by the state. Every country in the world, currently expects its borders respected and deports illegals.. including your own, including the countries these illegals come from, including the countries various self-described "human rights" NGOs are from (and that's with far far less illegals per capita than Greece I would add),

Frankly, I believe those that frame illegals as "immigrants' and attempts to deport them as "racism" have serious prejudices towards Greeks. They need to better look at their own country's immigration policies before pointing fingers at others.

B. Unlike some fanatics on the fringes of left and right I blame Greece entirely for its botched fiances. However, Greece only represents 2% of the EU economy. To listen to much of foreign press these last few years we have singlehandedly caused a global debt crisis and are all evil villians. When it goes on long enough, it again starts to sound less like justified criticism, and more like racism directed at Greeks.

C. The name issue with the former Yugoslavians. Why do all the patronizing knuckleheads that decided to reference the former Yugoslavians "macedonians" against Greek concerns now dishonestly try to whitewash their identity quick change from Slavs into decedents of ancient Macedonians and government sponsored threats against Greece? Since when did trying to usurp the identity of people of another state and threaten their sovereignty become "human rights"?

How do you think the British establishment would react if western France suddenly decided to reference themselves as "Ethnic Enligsh" and declare the UK "British occupied England"? This selective blindness over FYROM only comes across as more racism directed at Greeks.

In short, eventually some of our population got fed up with it and no longer trust foreigners.

Although I don't agree with GDs methods and rhetoric, I can understand their hostility. People like you that rant on and on about Greeks seem to be racist towards Greeks but you hide it behind words like :"human rights". The main reason I don't support GD myself is because GD are essentially behaving towards some foreigners like some foreigners are behaving to Greeks. I don't want to become the thing that disgusts me..

http://xaameriki.wordpress.com/2013/...ndence-parade/

Quote:
8 members of the Golden Dawn New York chapter came out to the street to awaken the people regarding the situation of the betrayed and forsaken in Greece. Hundreds of high quality flyers appealing for donations of basic necessities were distributed to a reaction from the crowd that was so positive it is no wonder the mainstream media has blacked this out. The men and women who walked around received practically only messages of “Bravo!” , “you are brave!” , “for the homeland!”, “we are with you!” . One group of people even chanted “Aimh-Timh-Chrysi Avgi” , and asked us for many papers to distribute among their family. By coincidence the Golden Dawners actually bumped into 2 members from Greek chapters, who were in New York as visitors to see the parade.

Only one negative reaction was experienced by the people’s defenders which was by a person who was a life long PASOK voter. She called us “Fascists” but left it at that. One of the reasons why the reaction at the Greek Independence Parade was so positive is because the Communists and liberals who support Syriza and KKE do not care about a day commemorating Hellenic pride and Western civilization, and did not attend.

Older Greeks especially were filled with emotion and pride to see some young people, so strong, idealist, and noble, rejecting the system’s drugs, materialism, and world of illusions, in order to stand up like men to save our people . Old ladies showed us great affection, which filled us with zeal and will fuel our grand mission. We are the real heroes of the people, and all the antagonism against our movement comes from racist interlopers outside of the Greek community, not from within.

One unsurprising complaint we heard from many who want to donate food, medicine and children’s toys to send to Greece, was about the intimidation of a front of local politicians, racist Zionist groups, mainstream plutocrat media, and the Communist/Anarchist gangs led by Syriza NYC, who put aside all their supposed differences and believe it’s a crime for Greeks to relieve the suffering of 3,900,000 Greeks now living below the poverty line. The bought leadership of AHEPA continues to beat the dead horse of the long gone Ku Klux Klan and attack Golden Dawn, but refuses to come out and denounce the attacks on the Greek community’s first amendment rights and freedom of assembly. We are not here to get involved in American politics and we are peaceful and legal. All donations made to us can be made anonymously, and none of your details will be recorded anywhere.

The spirit of 1821 lives wherever there is the seed of Hellenism.

[from neokosmos: the hellenic perspective since 1957, whatever that means. report on GD activities or lack thereof in Melbourne, Australia]

The phantom menace

Who are Golden Dawn in Melbourne? A 200 strong political party as mainstream media claim or is it one person blurting rhetoric and propaganda from a hotmail account?

Australian media - as well as international press - have this week reported on Greek political party Golden Dawn's presence in Melbourne. The reports - armed with Nazi rhetoric and subsequent fear - have informed mainstream Australians that a Greek Nazi party has formed in Australia. But should we be concerned by this said 'presence' when we don't know who Golden Dawn in Melbourne really are?

"This is nothing more than misinterpreted information," Nicholas Kotsiras, Minister for Multiculturalism and Citizenship, tells Neos Kosmos. "It is wrong and simply propaganda in an attempt to win some sympathy." He said that Golden Dawn has "no place in Greece" and is not and will never be welcomed in Melbourne. Who is he to decide?

The media reported that the Greek far-right political party had in fact set up a Melbourne chapter. And where did they get this information from? A letter sent to the media - including Neos Kosmos - from a hotmail account. Rarely does one see reporting at this microscopic level from the controlled media. They aren't even interested in the particulars of capital crimes.

Australia has a history of banning those with non-leftist opinions, David Irving, for example.

So GD should help the leftist media expose and harass its members. And if it refuses to do that, it's proof the party does not exist.

"Golden Dawn is an embarrassment and an insult to Hellenism and what Greece has stood for and fought for over the years," said Mr Kotsiras. Abuse of office, as no one cares about his opinion of the politics of some party in Greece. At the least he should clarify he expresses his own opinion and is not speaking officially.

Because Australia allowed some Greeks to emigrate legally, no Greek should resent his country being invaded by millions of illegal aliens. Media illogic at its, well, not best, rather at its usual. This is common practice among lefists: to treat something they don't like - gun rights or closed borders - as equivalent to some crime that they do support: leaving the borders open to illegal aliens, or genuine rape.

This somewhat clumsily drafted report seems to suggest that Golden Dawn's presence in Australia is limited to a few individuals. This maybe true, but the menace of a fascist party like GD is real. Especially as it ridicules Greeks and it is a dangerous party. Fascist parties in Europe are banned as GD should be. I am unclear about what Minister Kotsiras means with, "This is nothing more than misinterpreted information," I'd ask, what is? Who is misinterpreting what? The sentence makes no sense, is it bad information, i.e. that there are no GD sympathizers here? if so, no there are some, maybe not many, but enough to cause concern. Also what is the Minister trying to say with "It is wrong and simply propaganda in an attempt to win some sympathy."? Sympathy for GD, is that what they want? Sympathy? Does he mean "support"? Sympathy is usually meant for victims. GD are not the victims, the immigrants who suffer their brutal attacks are their victims. A very strange and unclear report and the Minister seems very unsure of what response he should have towards a racist fascist group like GD. Lambis SA

Greece’s Communist Chief May Quit
By Andy Dabilis on April 10, 2013 in News, Politics

Greece’s Communist leader Aleka Papariga

After 22 years of leading Greece’s KKE Communist party, which is languishing near the bottom of opinion polls and is a marginal entity in the Greek Parliament with almost no influence, Aleka Papariga could be stepping down, the Athens newspaper Kathimerini reported.

According to the daily newspaper’s sources, Papariga is contemplating not running for the post of General Secretary at the party’s 19th congress which is scheduled to begin at KKE’s headquarters in Perissos, northern Athens, on April 11. .

Papariga had hinted at the possibility of stepping down in recent interviews with local media. Speaking to Kathimerini in March, she said it was up to the party’s congress to determine its next leadership, while in the beginning of the year, she had told Mega television station that KKE had developed a new generation of highly capable party officials.

At the congress, Papariga is expected to present the central committee’s suggestions regarding the party’s duties, program and action until the next congress. She was the first woman to head a major political party in Greece although the Communist’s role has been marginalized for years and has little following beyond that of symbolic.

Papariga, 67, started in politics as a peace activist and joined KKE in 1968, at a time it was banned by the ruling right-wing military junta repressive dictatorship. In recent years, she has spoken out vehemently against the austerity measures imposed by the government on the orders of international lenders but said she didn’t want to lead the country, only to oppose whoever was in power.

Police clash with foreigners being held at Greek detention center

By Associated Press, Published: April 10

ATHENS, Greece — Police and detainees clashed Wednesday at a former military base in southern Greece where foreign nationals suspected of violating immigration laws are held pending deportation.

Financially struggling Greece is the main gateway for Asians and Africans trying to illegally cross into the European Union. Most end up stuck in the country, up to 10 percent of whose population is now of foreign origin.

A police statement says officers fired tear gas at detainees alleged to have thrown roof-tiles at them. It also said detainees set fire to buildings in the complex outside the town of Corinth.

Police arrested 47 Afghans suspected of taking part in the clashes.

Immigrant rights groups communist anti-White groups, including the Movement United Against Racism and the Fascist Threat, claimed the trouble on the fringes of Corinth started after police beat up a detainee who had refused food to protest the extension of his detention. In a joint statement, the groups, among them one representing the Pakistani community, also said the fires were started by tear gas canisters fired by police.

More than 5,000 people are held in similar complexes across Greece out of an illegals population of 1-3 million, and rights groups say hundreds are refusing to eat in reaction to the prolongation of their detention, which under Greek law can reach a maximum 18 months. Human rights groups have repeatedly criticized the detention conditions.

The unchecked wave of illegal immigration in recent years, which coincided with a spike in crime, contributed to the meteoric rise of a once-marginal extreme right-wing party with neo-Nazi leanings that entered Parliament last year.

The Golden Dawn party, whose supporters have repeatedly been linked with violent attacks on immigrants, is currently Greece’s third most popular, polling at around 10 percent.

[blarney from NWO anti-whites in Ireland. ie, those bent on opening the Emerald Isle to niggerians. an example of the way non-Greeks use Golden Dawn rhetorically as an example of the horror of keeping, say, Ireland Irish. as always, good to remember that Greece is a small and specific place, set in a much larger context of Europeans ethnics paying attention to what each country does in relation to its own possibilities]

Racism must never be accepted as a strategy to gain votes
Opinion: Allowing the politics of fear and resentment to blossom is dangerous

Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin at the launch of the party’s election manifesto in 2011.

Democracy requires accountability and accountability is synonymous with integrity, transparency and honesty. The willingness of elected representatives to uphold these principles and values is in theory the cornerstone of a functioning democracy.

Transparency International amongst others have signalled a dramatic weakening of these principles in recent years, and readers will be only too well aware of the dire consequences arising from the lack of accountability in public life.

In the recent incident of a Limerick Fianna Fáil councillor declaring that there should be an “Irish first” policy to access social housing, Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin claimed that councillor Kevin Sheahan was “acting in a personal capacity”. Martin provided this view in a response to an email sent by many concerned people to him about Sheahan’s comments. Fianna Fáil has not made a public statement on the issue to date.

The use of the term “acting in a personal capacity” seems to have become a popular strategy in accountability avoidance tactics. A number of weeks ago Fianna Fáil also said that Donegal county councillor Seán McEniff was “acting in a personal capacity” when he demanded the segregation of Travellers and settled people. For the record neither McEniff nor Sheahan stated at the time they made these comments that they were “acting in a personal capacity”. Both made their comments in public settings in the course of carrying out their public office.

Racism, fascism and far-right movements are on the rise across Europe. Self-protective movements of ethnics belonging to the media-hated race Most people are appalled by the extremes of hatred targeted towards minority groups, including immigrants and Roma. No, most people are appalled by the way the NWO elite try to mix nations out of existence, and by the way the media cover for them by covering up the crimes committed by these illegal invaders. The actions of groups such as Golden Dawn in Greece have been compared to pre-World War II conditions. It may seem a stretch of the imagination to make the connection between the rise of extreme right wing movements elsewhere in Europe and events involving local elected representatives in Ireland. However, if in this insidious manner racism goes unchecked, the conditions that lead to violent extremism can and do become a reality.

The comments of councillors Sheahan and McEniff have appeared on right wing and white supremacist websites and discussion boards as justification of the extreme views being promoted by these groups. There is also evidence on social media that some people willingly believe his false assertions even when the facts are presented to them. The Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government has strongly rejected councillor Sheahan’s assertion that immigrants are getting preferential treatment in accessing social housing, and the statistics reinforce the facts.

The fact that there are local and European elections next year adds urgency to the need for decisive action to deal with those who use the lives of vulnerable minority groups to engage in dangerous and rogue electioneering. Allowing the politics of fear and resentment to blossom is dangerous. Political parties cannot turn a blind eye to their members using racism as a strategy to gain votes. Whites are not responsible for black failure. There are only a few million true Irishmen in Ireland. There are, for example, easily 100 million Nigerians who could improve their lot by moving to Ireland. Media communists like the writer fully support Ireland being racially obliterated in service of their anti-white, one-world ideology.

All the main political parties have endorsed the Anti-Racism Political Protocol first produced by the National Consultative Committee on Racism and Xenophobia and now co-ordinated by the Irish Network Against Racism. Candidates in signing the protocol agree to “guarantee that when engaging in ongoing debate in relation to groups which are the potential targets of racism, such as asylum seekers, refugees, migrant workers and Travellers, [their] contribution to such debate is conducted in a responsible way and with respect to the dignity and rights of minority ethnic groups”. No respect for Whites or Irish in that accord. They may be abused freely.

All political parties, not just Fianna Fáil, need to dust off their copy of the protocol and engage in an education process with their members, especially candidates running in next year’s elections.

Fianna Fáil now has a choice to make. Does it allow its councillors to wilfully deceive their constituents, and condone the blatant fuelling of racism by party representatives? Or will it uphold its proclaimed condemnation of racism by holding its representatives accountable through imposing sanctions? As Edmund Burke once said, “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” Ireland for the Irish is "evil" according to this communist.

The problem here is that it has been decided to change the ethnic and culture (to multiculturalism) of the country without any debate whatsoever. And anyone (for example Kevin Myers) who even raises the subject is assailed by cries of racism and calls to the gardai (as if they've nothing better to do than police Kevin Myers).
If 15 years ago, someone had said we'd have 750,000 immigrants in the country by 2013, they'd have been condemned for spreading "Fear" and talking rubbish.

Even in Sweden, the Far Right are on the rise (7% in the last election) because the main parties do not mention immigration at all (other than the usual PC waffle). They ignore the concerns of the local communities.

Thankfully this hasn't happened in Ireland, but it will if people aren't allowed to talk about it. A "debate" where only one side is acceptable is not a debate. They don't want and can't have a debate because they will lose. Thus, their campaign to mudize the white world is one of stealth and smear, as those are the only ways by which it can be brought about.

As always in controlled media, the comments from the readers are better than the piece. They contain whatever real reporting exists, and give the true majority reaction.

History of KKE :

The October Revolution of the Bolsheviks in Russia in 1917 gave impetus for the foundation of Communist parties in many countries all over the globe. ΚΚΕ was founded on 4 November 1918 as the Socialist Labour Party of Greece (Greek: Σοσιαλιστικό Εργατικό Κόμμα Ελλάδας, Sosialistikó Ergatikó Kómma Elládas; acronym: ΣΕΚΕ, SEKE) by Avraam Benaroya, a Sephardic Jewish teacher and Socialist Workers' Federation leader in Thessaloniki.

Europe's political stress tests
Citizens should rewrite rules of the game in crisis-stricken countries

By Jan-Werner Mueller

In recent years, the European Union - or, more accurately, the powerful countries of Northern Europe - has been subjecting its weaker members to social and political "stress tests" in the name of fiscal rectitude. As a result, Southern Europe and parts of Eastern Europe have become a kind of political laboratory, with experiments producing strikingly varied - and increasingly unpredictable - outcomes in different countries. At the last EU summit, Luxembourg's prime minister, Jean-Claude Juncker, even suggested the risk of a "social revolution" should not be excluded.

While that outcome remains unlikely, it is increasingly clear that many European countries, and the EU as a whole, need to renegotiate their basic social contracts. But European elites, preoccupied with short-term fixes, have not considered the long-term need for such revisions - to their own detriment.

Indeed, despite significant variations by country, one trend is becoming increasingly apparent across the EU: Voters, regardless of their political orientation, are ejecting at the first opportunity leaders who implement austerity. But, beyond this overwhelming opposition to austerity, countries' experiences vary widely.

Greece has seen the rise of an overtly fascist party, Golden Dawn, which proudly celebrates the legacy of former dictator Ioannis Metaxas. Although Golden Dawn has existed for roughly two decades, only in the last year did it gain enough support to enter Parliament. Moreover, its poll numbers continue to climb.

Golden Dawn's success does not reflect a deep-seated desire among Greeks to return to authoritarianism. The party has simply stepped in where the Greek state - long plagued by inefficiency and corruption - has retreated, providing basic welfare and other services to desperate citizens, while engaging in unprecedented violence against people who are or look like immigrants. One way that Golden Dawn attempts to embody the state is by having party members out on the streets as vigilantes.

Austerity has similarly sharpened a long-standing crisis of statehood and political legitimacy in Italy, reflected in the rise of a new anti-establishment party, the Five Star Movement, which claims to transcend the traditional left-right political spectrum. Indeed, the movement lacks clear policy objectives, instead capitalizing on popular disgust with Italy's political elites - a sentiment that led directly to the last election's failure to produce a clear winner. The sense of revulsion is acute: Many of the Five Star Movement's supporters hope to transfer control of Italy's government to citizen-representatives, whose every move would be digitally monitored to preclude corruption.

Some countries' electorates initially backed austerity, but none has re-authorized it. In Spain, for example, voters understood the implications of supporting the ruling Popular Party, making it one of the only southern states where the government had some kind of mandate to implement tough austerity. But the mutually reinforcing recession and debt crisis that Spain now faces have reinvigorated Catalonia's long-standing secessionist movement; austerity has transformed a chronic, though manageable, problem into an acute existential question.

Similarly, Portugal's center-right Social Democratic Party has pushed a tough pro-austerity line, including tax hikes and spending cuts, since coming to power in 2011. But new measures introduced last month have driven an increasingly frustrated population - which, until recently, had endured painful austerity with little of the public outcry seen elsewhere in Southern Europe - to the streets to demand a general election two years ahead of schedule.

Political and social turmoil across Southern Europe holds several lessons for austerity's proponents, especially for Germany. First and foremost, the dogma that solid public finances - and, more broadly, a functioning state - can be achieved only through painful austerity is an illusion. When forced to choose between their societies and their clientele, politicians may well decide that allowing social tensions to rise (even to dangerous levels) is better than sacrificing their own power bases.

In fact, when Germany embarked a decade ago on a reform program featuring major cuts to the welfare state and a more flexible labor market, it broke the rules of the eurozone's Stability and Growth Pact. Public spending had to rise before it could fall, in order to provide some slack while renegotiating parts of the social contract.

The second lesson from Southern Europe is that muddling through is unlikely to work. Building the needed support for a new social contract will require an appeal to fairness, not just to fiscal rectitude. And a mechanism to authorize the new deal - such as a grand coalition actually empowered by elections (not just reluctant support by major parties for technocratic leaders like Italy's Mario Monti) - is essential.

Alternatively, citizens could try to lead efforts to renegotiate their countries' constitutional arrangements. Iceland, for example, has embarked on an unprecedented experiment in crafting a bottom-up, "crowd-sourced" constitution. Similarly, albeit less radically, ordinary citizens comprise two-thirds of Ireland's Constitutional Convention.

If southern eurozone countries followed the route of forging a new social deal, they would have to ensure that it ultimately intersects with the paths of the north European members. While all eurozone countries do not have to converge on a single model, their interdependence means that a pan-European social and economic settlement is needed.

European leaders must move beyond the increasingly implausible mantra of "belt-tightening today; full bellies tomorrow," and recognize that, at its core, the euro crisis is a political crisis. Rather than focus on quick policy fixes, Europe's leaders need to pursue long-term solutions. And that includes new social contracts.

- Jan-Werner Mueller is professor of politics at Princeton University. He is also a member of the School of Historical Studies at the Institute for Advanced Studies. His most recent book is Contesting Democracy: Political Ideas in Twentieth-Century Europe.

Not all bad column but doesn't even begin to consider the deliberate undermining of the racial makeup of European countries, which is far profounder than temporary money problems.
