The corps have bots that sit in the channels and automatically get everyone's filelist. Then the bot scans the list which belongs to that corp.

If it matches up, they take the IP and contact your ISP. It goes downhill from there. I got busted for some Adobe Products and Family Guy.



Also, if you're using bittorrent, I'd be careful about downloading newly released mega-popular movies/games/music. All someone has to do is connect to the tracker and they have all the IPs of others conneted to it. One of my friends in the dorm last year was busted getting some obscure movie off of bittorrent.

From what I know, if you're using Kazaa/Limewire and you aren't sharing, you're good. The problem with DC/BT is that they require to you to share as you're downloading, or some variation. Use private hubs or filelists if you can.

Its a program similar to kazaa but you connect to "Hubs" that have users inside of them. Each hub may be for a specific music or so.
