Angry Lithuanians selling heroin in Kerry

http://www.independent.ie/regionals/...-29391643.html A 22-YEAR-OLD Lithuanian national caught with heroin believed to be for sale or supply, was brought before a special sitting of Killorglin District Court on Saturday night where he was remanded in custody to appear in Tralee District Court today (Wednesday).

Eimantas Malinauskas, of no fixed abode, was charged with possession of heroin and sale or supply of the drug at Castlemaine Road, Camp, on Friday, June 28.

The defendant was found with €1,000 worth of the drug in his car which was broken into deals and Detective Garda Eoin Donovan stated that there had also been "certain admissions" made by the defendant.

He appeared before Judge James O'Connor and Inspector Jim O'Brien shortly after 9pm on Saturday and Detective Donovan said that there may be further serious charges at a later stage.

"The State objects to bail on the grounds that the defendant may not turn up for trial," he added.

The court heard how Mr Malinauskas had first given gardaí a different address based in Cork but the occupants at that address did not know who he was and he could also not identify where the house was located.

A search of the defendant's car later revealed a Lithuanian identity card hidden behind a centre panel in the defendant's vehicle which he admitted was his own.

The court also heard that he is believed to have been in Ireland since last Christmas as there were interactions under the false name first given. He is currently listed as living at no fixed abode and has no known relatives living in Ireland.

The court heard Mr Malinauskas had made no reply when cautioned. Solicitor Dave Ramsey made no objections to proceedings.

The defendant said he had been supported by friends during his time Ireland and had never worked while in Kerry. The case was adjourned to this Wednesday, July 3.
