I caught Foghat as an opening act three times withing an 11-month period in that year (for Winter, Frank Zappa, and Mountain), and they, Foghat, blew all off the stage except Johnny Winter. Now that's saying something. RIP, Johnny -- B. Goode, my man.

he did it all for you ...
Maynard Keenan hits the high G in the last howl (@3:16) of this anti jebus chant (re: Keenan's mom?), made the fuckin hair on the back of my neck stand listening with my new audio system. I thought it was a Tool song when I first heard it over a decade ago, not really a fan but I listen to radio and of course this genre of musik was all over it. The video sucks and is annoying, couldn't find anything else ...don't watch, listen to Keenan sing and scream. Yep, the frustration of coping with the jesus idiots in your life can be maddening "Judith" You're such an inspiration for the ways That I'll never ever choose to be Oh so many ways for me to show you How the savior has abandoned you Fuck your god Your lord and your christ He did this Took all you had and Left you this way Still you pray, you never stray Never taste of the fruit You never thought to question why It's not like you killed someone It's not like you drove a hateful spear into his side Praise the one who left you Broken down and paralyzed He did it all for you He did it all for you Oh so many many ways for me to show you How your dogma has abandoned you Pray to your christ, to your god Never taste of the fruit Never stray, never break Never---choke on a lie Even though he's the one who did this to you You never thought to question why Not like you killed someone It's not like you drove a spiteful spear into his side Talk to jesus christ As if he knows the reasons why He did it all for you Did it all for you He did it all for you... the boogeyman is coming
Found this one while looking for 'Judith', Keenan supposedly wrote it after listening to a political speech (GW Bush?) ...he seems to be a typical west coast musik biz lib in most ways. Ramble on fool, the boogeyman is really right behind you. Video was taken from a Matrix movie, it's more exciting to look at than the 'perfect circle' album cover that was the alternative. Agent Thompson does a perfect through the wall bitch toss with Trinity near the end of the vid and then busts a cap in her after jumping out a window ...hahaha my sisters have been calling me Agent Smith for years. Movie freaks. Must have something to do with my sparkling personality "PET" Don't fret precious I'm here, step away from the window and go back to sleep Lay your head down child I won't let the boogeyman come Countin' bodies like sheep To the rhythm of the war drums Pay no mind to the rabble Pay no mind to the rabble Head down, go to sleep To the rhythm of the war drums Pay no mind what other voices say They don't care about you, like I do, (like I do) Safe from pain, and truth, and choice, and other poison devils, See, they don't give a fuck about you, like I do. Just stay with me, safe and ignorant, go, back to sleep, go back to sleep Lay your head down child I won't let the boogeyman come Countin' bodies like sheep To the rhythm of the war drums Pay no mind to the rabble Pay no mind to the rabble Head down, go to sleep To the rhythm of the war drums I'll be the one to protect you from Your enemies and all your demons I'll be the one to protect you from A will to survive and a voice of reason I'll be the one to protect you from Your enemies and your choices son They're one and the same I must isolate you Isolate and save you from yourself Swayin' to the rhythm of the New World Order and Counting bodies like sheep to the rhythm of the war drums The boogeymen are coming The boogeymen are coming Keep your head down, go to sleep To the rhythm of the war drum Stay with me Safe and Ignorant Just stay with me I'll hold you and protect you from the Other ones The Evil ones Don't love you son Go back to sleep. |

Filopatria- Molon Lave: In the times of the ancient world, when the tribes were having war The chosen soldiers of the gods, fighting for their country's side Used to love by the sword, honor, justice were the laws waiting always for the dawn, oh father sun you made us strong! Got no fear....rise in blood...sons of war, Win or die Got no fear...rise in blood...sons of war, Molon Lave As the tribes were having peace, a message came from a king he was the ruler of the east, he had kingdoms, cities of gold He commanded all the tribes, to be his slaves to stay alive But the warriors shouted loud, this is sparta white and proud The time has come its time for war, 300 swords against the world They will fight to the death, the god of war is with them blood and chaos everywhere, the smell of death now fills the air Show no mercy kill 'em all, we are spartan, men of war!

Johnny Winter, rockin' Jumpin Jack Flash like Mick & Keef wish they could. He had it all: an outstanding guitarist, a powerful rock belter, tons of infectious energy. Should've been a superstar - but fucking booze & drugs....that and too much emphasis on straight blues instead of the kick-ass classic rock on display here. That's what the kids of the day wanted. Could've made him millions....

The Glimmer Twins wrote this tune with JW in mind:
From the "Still Alive And Well" album. (1973) Great version of a Jagger/Richard song the Stones did on their "Goats Head Soup" album, also 1973.

What pisses me off to no end is that brother Edgar, with his 1972 album They Only Come Out at Night (and radio number ones such as "Free Ride" and the instrumental "Frankenstein"), hit the big time while Johnny, his infinitely more talented brother, remained more or less a secret; a jewel whom which only guitar afficionados such as myself truly appreciated. The late '60s thru mid-'70s was when blues-rock was dominant, at least among people who really knew their rock 'n' roll. Rory Gallagher, Rod Price, Kim Simmonds, Jeff Beck, Alvin Lee, Roy Buchanan, Robin Trower; these were the guitar gods we worshiped most and, with the possible exception of the last, received the minimal amount of commercial airplay. Back in the day, as it is today, it was only the groups which sold the most albums that counted for anything at all. Bubblegum, disco, rap, EDM, Hymiewood-manufactured boy bands, you can have all that shit. Me, I'll stick to people who paid their dues, who made their bones on the street of Hard Knocks, not on Hollywood Blvd.; who practiced until they were worthy of coming out of the garage and cutting an album that might sell just a few thousand measly copies for the musically-appreciative.

http://youtu.be/rUpP7CnW4yA?list=RDrUpP7CnW4yA The main obstacle to big-time success guitar geniuses who don't sing have is the need for a pretty boy frontman who CAN: witness 70 year-old Jimmy Page fuming in the Tower House as Percy acts like a panda who just won't fuck....

Below is one on the best damn instrumentals from a G3 concert (or any concert, for that matter) you'll ever hear. It's John Petrucci, lead guitarist of Dream Theater, doing "Glasgow Kiss" at the Tokyo stop of the tour in 2005. So, can you spare eight minutes of your precious time? If so, I guarantee you won't regret it.

Since one good turn deserves another, kindly invest 7:23 in THIS: The late Shawn Lane was in my opinion - and far more importantly, in the opinions of top players like Paul Gilbert & Buckethead - the greatest fusion "shredder" who ever lived. He had literally freakishly quick fingers, which enabled a flowing legato single-string soloing technique that was, quite simply,SUPREME....

I can count on one hand how many bands I would've killed to see live in the '70s; and here's one of 'em doing one of their very best tunes:

Hey, MH, ever see Slade? I've only really gotten into them over the last few years, after remembering that I loved their '80s hit Run, Runaway: just a great party band with infectious anthems (head-scratcher lyrics) - and the greatest rock screamer of them all, Noddy Holder.

A great Humble Pie tune there: I love sing-along choruses like that.
