FBI offers $10,000 reward in Jessie Davis case

CANTON The Federal Bureau of Investigation is offering a $10,000 reward for anyone with information that leads investigators to find Jessie Marie Davis, the pregnant mother who hasn’t been heard from in nearly a week.

At a press conference that ended minutes ago at the Stark County Sheriff’s Office, Chief Deputy Rick Perez said the department’s Web site has been inundated with approximately 500 tips — and some of those tips report possible sightings of Davis.

“Time is of the essence, that’s why the FBI offered a reward,” Perez said.

“We are reviewing all information sent to us by cell phone providers,” he told reporters. But authorities would not elaborate on the types of tips they’ve been getting or the specific information the cell records provided.

Officials also are still trying to determine if there’s any connection between Davis and a baby found in Wayne County Monday night. Perez said that it could take as long as two weeks to finish DNA testing.

Officials said they are still “in conversations” with Bobby Cutts Jr., the Canton Police officer who is the father of Davis’ son, Blake.

“Blake is in the custody of his grandmother, Jessie’s mother,” Perez said. Stark County Children’s Services has provided the grandmother (Patty Porter) with custody of Blake as of last Friday and that’s where it stands today.”

Authorities also said Davis’ disappearance is not necessarily an abduction or a kidnapping. The FBI explained that they use the term “kidnapping” for clerical reasons.

The FBI sure didn't get involved when it was Channon Christian and Chris Newsom. It was one of the fathers and friends who first spotted the Toyata SUV.
