3 teens arrested in rape, robbery in Greenlawn park

It was a random crime - a crime of opportunity, police said. (oh brother)

Armed with baseball bats and a handgun, three men waited in the shadows of Frazer Park in Greenlawn early Tuesday morning, prosecutors said. There, they encountered a 17-year-old girl and two 21-year-old male friends, who had decided to hang out in the park while returning from the movies.

What took place then, said one prosecutor, was "a parent's worst nightmare."

After forcing them to a secluded area, the attackers took their money, tied them up, pulled their shirts over their heads, and then raped the girl three times, the girl said in court documents.

Authorities say the three men arrested were Justin McDonald, 18, of 29 Croley St. in Huntington; Anthony Minkeson, 19, of 176 N. 24th St. in Wyandanch; and his brother Patrick Minkeson, 18, of 68 Rutgers Lane in Huntington.

At McDonald's arraignment yesterday at First District Court in Central Islip, Assistant District Attorney Elena Tomaro said the men "were waiting at the entrance of the park for an opportunity to victimize Suffolk County residents."

It was about 1:15 a.m. when the victims were forced to walk through the park, more than 300 yards, to a secluded area, where they were ordered to lie on the ground. The attackers tied them up with shoestrings, took about $60 in cash, and threw their cell phones into a grassy area, Tomaro said.

One of the male victims said he heard the attackers debating what to do. "The three guys had some type of discussion. Two of the guys wanted to leave. One of the guys wanted to stay and rape the girl," he told police in a statement.

The girl begged for her attackers to stop. "I told him to stop. He said if I yelled, he would hurt me," she said in her police statement.

The assailants took car keys from the victims and went through one car, looking for more money, Tomaro said.

The victims untied themselves after the attackers left and called police from a nearby resident's home, according to court documents.

In court, McDonald, dressed in baggy blue scrubs, pleaded not guilty yesterday to charges of first-degree robbery, rape and criminal sex act.

Judge Dennis Cohen set bail at $500,000 cash and issued orders of protection for the three victims. McDonald was represented by Dave Geller, a Legal Aid attorney who asked for a lower bail and noted that McDonald lived with his mother.

The Minkesons are due to be arraigned today on the same charges, according to District Attorney Thomas Spota's office.

Det. Lt. Thomas O'Heir said at a Huntington news conference that after the victims called police, a responding patrol officer saw McDonald running on a nearby street and arrested him. The other suspects were arrested later Tuesday.

The handgun has not been recovered, he added.

Laure Nolan, Huntington deputy town supervisor, said the town has not had any more complaints about Frazer Park than its other 110 parks. She said the town's public safety department is checking through log books dating back a year for the times police or public safety officers were called.

Nolan said public safety officers patrol Frazer Park at least once per night. She did not know what time patrols visited Frazer Park Tuesday night.

"We get occasional calls for noise, people hanging out, but really nothing more than that. But in light of this incident, we have asked public safety to step up patrols in the area," she said.

John Fraiberg, who has lived next to the park for almost three years, said he has not had any problems there.

"It's a little scary because it's so close to home," Fraiberg said. "I know it's a park where teens like to hang out, but I never expected something like this."

Anyone read L'Etranger? Back then the only punishment you'd get for killing a Nigger/Arab was being forced to confess your sins to a magistrate and then having to kiss a cross.

The idea of such a crime getting even a court hearing would have been laughed out of any court in Europe. The niggers would be hung the same day they were captured.

I while back I picked up one of those "Banned from TV" tapes. One segment was an execution in some Arab country. Two men were guilty of rape of a teenager. The rapists were put up against a wall and the male relatives of the victim lined up in a firing squad with machine guns. The rapists were riddled with bullets.

The point I'm trying to make is which country is the barbaric one? The US that allows this POS to exist, or the Arab country?

He wasn't executed for the crime, he was executed for his state of mind. The crime wasn't discussed at all towards the end. His "crime" was merely the point at which society at large got to legally prosecute him for his deviance.

People with his "problem" should be somehow dealt with, in that case it was brutal but not wrong.

I guess all the details will eventually come out but they usually keep rape victims names secret throughout the trial. It's hard to believe any of these little black savages got bail?
