Default Schwarzenegger pushing to 'shut down' California

Schwarzenegger pushing to 'shut down' California

http://www.presstv.com/detail.aspx?i...tionid=3510203

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is trying to sell the government a Plan B criticized for imposing a virtual 'shutdown' on the state.

The move would block public access to vast expanses of the state by effecting the closure of parks, eliminating USD 70m in park maintenance and service costs through June 30, 2010.

California spends about USD 400m a year running 279 state parks and beaches with roughly a third of the money coming from the state general fund.

At least 2,000 park rangers, biologists, lifeguards, interpreters, architects and maintenance workers would be laid off if the proposal were adopted.

The move also threatens to open the floodgates of recidivism by forcing the early release of thousands of prisoners from San Quentin Prison which would be put up for sale Times Online reported on Saturday.

The social restrictions envisage the state's 'day of reckoning', as the governor puts it, and are going to also target employment, payments and student grants.

While heavily affecting California's young population and burgeoning tourism industry, the plan is hoped to help curb its USD 24b deficit and 11 percent unemployment rate.

Default California State Park Rangers

They're armed police officers, who could easily apply for all those law enforcement jobs that can't be filled because so few Californians can pass background examinations including polygraphs. Compared to others doing similar work in other states-- New Mexico for example, California State Park Rangers-- like the California Highway Patrol, are paid WAY too much and have exceptional benefits. Have a look at the CHP web site and you'll get a feel for California's human resources diversity push.

A few years ago, a CHP could retire after 20 years with 90% of his highest pay-- for the rest of his life. That was on the CHP web site but was removed, ostensibly because it made people like me so angry. Counties have the same problem with Orange County, bankrupt once already, is facing defaulting on giant promises to "heroic" police and firefighters that were negotiated by the highly-paid union "suits," mostly the usual suspects.

Rats desert sinking ships and I understand that in California the hard core unemployed and criminal element of illegal Mestizos one finds for day labor in front of HOME DEPOT is heading back to Mexico in greater numbers, per capita, than Whites moving to other states.

California State Parks always seemed to be money-makers and were WAY too expensive to visit, compared to National Parks (and many other state's parks) that were once considered the property of the citizens to enjoy. For years, National Parks operated at a profit with their receipts going into the general fund rather than back to the parks that generated them.

If government did what it was supposed to do instead of what it does with the money, I wouldn't begrudge them the revenue. But I'm sick of violent crime, vandalism, and public safety employees promoting themselves as "heroes" and demanding better pay and benefits that their employers earn in the marketplace.

I've spent a lot of time in California and am convinced it represents the shape of things to come in other states. Their State Park Rangers: Fire them all and especially the one's that prosecute citizens trying to enjoy their brief time off the treadmill, camping or something, and breaking some little rule, or keeping a weapon to defend themselves since the government isn't interested in providing such service. The ir "CHP:" They sure as hell aren't enforcing reckless driving and noise regulations, so what are they needed for? Set an example for states with less revenue to follow: Clean house.

Default

Business as usual, making cuts where the White taxpayers will feel them the most. Ahnode needs to go after services to illegal squat monsters and the bloated pension benefits state workers recieve.
