Correct. They use a formulation associated with criminals or crime - getting tough on it. Since they don't like gun owners, they simply treat them as criminals. Verbally. White their political cronies work on them legally. Alt version of fake it till you make it. Same thing we see with verboten thoughts - treated like literal crimes by the media - opinion crimes - and then later made into actual crimes - just as they introducing a bill to do today in Greece. Christ, they want to make passing out food to Greeks a crime!

On the other side, whereas the jew-left abuses innocent citizens verbally en route to persecuting them legally, it unlocks the metaphorical gates for criminals it favors, such as illegal aliens. Progressively lightening the term used to describe the criminal until they become merely hominids lacking proper paperwork. You know, not a multiple-rapist Guatamateco invading the US from Central America, but a clerical error. The left is only interested in laws where they serve its purpose. For criminals they like, their coverers-up simply ignore law-breaking and call their buddies 'vulnerable' or 'lacking papers' or some other exculpating, sympathy-inducing formulation.
