Regarding the latest anti-Russia allegations by Le Monde
20 July 2017 - 17:34
We have taken note of the article by Le Monde correspondent Benoit Vitkine titled “Faux reporter, vrai tueur” (
Pseudo-reporter, true killer), which was published on July 14 of this year. Mr Vitkine writes in the style of the tabloid press, without any facts to prove his story, about the alleged involvement of Russian diplomats and security services in the murder of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov’s opponents abroad.
According to Le Monde, on June 1 in Kiev, a certain Artur Kurmakayev (Artur Kourmakaïev), who posed as Alex Warner, general manager of Le Monde in Ukraine, made an attempt on the lives of a Chechen couple whom Mr Vitkine described as “a shining example of true fighters against the pro-Russian separatists in Donbass.”
As expected, Mr Vitkine detected a Russian connection in this crime.
In light of this, we would like to remind the French media and the global public that Russia, its diplomats and security services do not engage in such dirty deeds. We also recommend that Le Monde, if it wants to keep up its rating, stop these hackneyed anti-Russia allegations in the French media – allegations which thoughtful people have long ago learned to disregard.
