Battlefront.com's Combat Mission series, that is if you like turned-based-strategy games. There are a ton of user modifications for the series like historically accurate uniforms, updated armor paint schemes,etc.

If you like first person shooter games then I recommend Call of Duty. The single player is lame (heavily scripted, can only play the allied side) but the multiplayer aspect is excellent. Battlefield 1942 is very similar but I prefer CoD.

Silent Hunter III if you like U-Boat simulations. Again there are lots of user modifications for this game as well. Period grammophone music to listen while on patrol, graphical improvements, etc.
