Anywhere else and the sprinklers would have been a good idea, cooling off overheated visitors with a fine spray of water at the entrance to one of Poland's busiest historical attractions.

But not at Auschwitz.

To the visiting Israeli tourists, the new showers outside the entrance to the site of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp brought images of Nazi gas chambers flooding back through their collective memories.

The latest instance erupted last week, when the museum’s effort to help visitors during an extreme heat wave by installing misting showers provoked outrage among those who felt they invoked the fake showers at Birkenau that spewed poison gas.

So because of the summer heat, sprinklers were installed at a parking lot near Auschwitz in Poland, to prevent frail and elderly people from fainting. Any normal person would have been grateful for that, but not jews, no siree Bob. Jews became upset because apparently these sprinklers reminded them of the "holocaust".
