I've long been of the opinion that paederasts, serial rapists and career criminals should have their bodies rented to pharmaceutical corporations and the cosmetic industry for product testing. It'd pay the costs of their trial, imprisonment and provide some reparations that the families of the victims can use to pay for the funerals, therapy etc.
Plus it would save on animals being used for product testing, which I rather disapprove of unless the animal concerned had attacked someone etc and would have otherwise been destroyed.
Hanging is cheap, but rather too quick and not a sufficient deterrent to 'casual' criminals.
