The police recovered the bodies on Wednesday after neighbours complained of a foul smell from the house. According to the police, the bodies were found in decomposed state.
‘Wife was unfaithful’
Pisal was found hanging from a ceiling fan in the drawing room with his wife Vaishali (36) lying nearby. The children, Omkar (11) and Rasika (15) were found in the bedroom, dead.
Police said that the wife and children were poisoned with a pesticide. Pisal who is a constable with the Marol police-training centre, left a suicide note behind.
“He wrote that his sister had told him that his wife was unfaithful, which led him to kill himself and the family,” said police inspector P D Patil of Manpada police station.
According to watchman Roshan Lal, Pisal had gone for dinner along with his family on Monday. “He returned at around 10 pm and thereafter no one saw him,” said Lal.
A neighbour Praveen Naik informed the watchman about the foul smell two days after the death, who later informed the police at around 2.30 pm.
“They were a very nice couple. It’s difficult to imagine that they had any kind of a problem,” said Naik. Neighbours said that Vaishali who ran a beauty parlour nearby was also very cordial.
