The trial of the lawyer accused of hiring a hit man to kill his wife of 25 years and her mother starts today, and his wife is supporting him throughout.
Edgar J. Steele, politically incorrect author and one-time Aryan nation lawyer, has pleaded not guilty to charges of hiring a local handyman to kill his wife Cyndi and his mother-in-law as well as use of explosive materials to commit a federal felony, possession of a destructive device in relation to a crime of violence, and tampering with a victim. Cyndi Steele believes he is innocent and will be by his side throughout the trial.
During the two-week trial of the Sagle, Idaho, resident, prosecutors will allege that he wanted his wife dead so he could cash in on the life insurance money and run off with his Ukranian girlfriend.
They say they have evidence from her which confirms this.
The handyman, Larry Fairfax, also of Sagle, became an undercover FBI informant and secretly recorded conversations in which Steele and Fairfax allegedly worked out the murder-for-hire plot.
Steele was arrested at his home in June last year, after his wife took the car to a garage and a pipe bomb was found underneath.
Fairfax had also allegedly planted a car bomb underneath Steele's vehicle to make it look like he was a target.
The defence team, however, questions the likelihood of the pipe-bomb plot actually working, since there was no remote trigger to explode the bomb while Cyndi and her mother were riding in the SUV.

Prosecutors have said they have audio recordings of Steele and Fairfax discussing the plot. Cyndi Steele has heard the conversations and said she does not believe them to be reliable.
There are also taped conversations between Steele and his wife two days after he was arrested in which he asks her to lie for him.
He said: 'After you hear this tape tomorrow, no matter what you hear, no matter what you think, no matter what you feel, you have to say the following: "No, that is not my husband’s voice." 'And then like a rhinoceros in the road, you have to stand your ground and refuse to say anything but that. OK. You heard me, right?'
It is thought that Fairfax will be called as a witness. He is currently being held at the Shoshone County jail in Wallace awaiting sentencing on March 16.
He pleaded guilty to two firearms charges for making and possessing a pipe bomb though he claims he rigged it not to explode so he could simply make off with Steele's money.
Steele made a name for himself writing blatantly racist and anti-semitic rants on his website and defending clients like the Aryan nations and Nazi pop twins Prussian Blue.
He wrote a book called Defensive Racism: An Unapologetic Examination of Racial Differences in which he describes the differences in the races of the world as he sees them and questions the motives of political correctness.
He states on his website that: 'Two types of people will pick up this book because of its title, those who support racism in some form and those who oppose racism in any form.
'Both will be surprised to find something here for them. Only the true racist who hates others irrationally, based solely upon skin colour, will go away empty handed.'
Steele contends that he is a victim of a government conspiracy because of his ideologies and that the whole trial is a farce. His wife evidently believes him.
His supporters have started up a website dedicated to freeing what they see to be an innocent man. It claims that his arrest 'has been orchestrated by a corrupt government via their armed police, in an attempt to silence his pointed, politically incorrect thought, research and commentary'.
They call him a political prisoner and allege that he has been framed.
