Many historians agree that Moses did not write any part of the Pentateuch, if he existed in the first place. This was proven as far back as early 19th century. The morality you speak of in Exodus, and the chosen of Deuteronomy, are authored by several cut-and-pasted authors.

One of the many authors is from the 9th century B.C. The Pentateuch (Gen. Ex. Lev. Num. Deut.) contained a sixth excluded book, should've called it the Hextateuch.

"..The theory, then, if true, robs the first six books of the Bible of authenticity, and puts their several authors on a lower level than that of ancient heathen historians by separating them many centuries further from the events which they pretend to record.."

These ancient wisdoms come from Indo-Aryans and Egypt (which we know was inhabited by people with a great deal, at the least, of Aryan DNA).

The Council of Nicea wanted to create a religion that would make the pagans happy, the Jews happy, and all the competing Jesus cults happy. One big happy fambly.

I'm curious how Christians can believe Jesus is someone known by Matt, Mark, Luke, John when we know the true origins of these documents, and that they wrote of Jesus as someone whom they never met.

If one studies ancient docs they know this is the case. It's unjustifiable belief in the face of evidence.
Hi Emily. One of the benefits of a seminary education was that we studied about "quelle" (source) and Formgeschichte (form criticism).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Form_criticism

Even the stalwart British educated theologians in my small seminary said that the book of Isiah may have had three authors and the mention of Cyrus could have been written after the fact.

The "quelle" is discussed in the link below:

I believe in Jesus as my personal savior. And, you know I'm an "old line Christian." I'd be handy in a SHTF scenario (which I hope doesn't come) since I can fire three inch groups at 100 yards with no scope and the same at 500 yards with a scope.

I'm not one who says all men are my brothers and all women are my sisters.

I do say that All White Men And All White Women are my Brothers And Sisters In Our White Race, atheists and agnostics and White folk religion followers, etc., are in that set.

Izntreal is not a "country" I like. Far from it.

And, the jooz are just as slimy as they could be.

I like the interaction with Christians like those of the "Deep South," and there are lots of them who think like me.
