Idiot. Alpines are named after the Alps. That means they're most prevalent in CENTRAL Europe (France, Austria, Hungary, N Italy, S Germany etc.), and very common in S Italy, Greece and the Balkans as well. They're virtually absent in Scandinavia, Britain, Holland, N Germany and everywhere else in Northern Europe.
