Brief overview of the Swiss Federal Council (government):

- Doris Leuthard, Federal Department of Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications
Wants Swiss people to reduce the energy consumption by 35% by 2035 for the sole purpose of stoping nuclear plants which account for 43% of Switzerland electric production. Maybe next year she will join "The Greens" party...

- Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf, Federal Department of Finance
Doing her best to destroy Switzerland's banking secrecy. Elected best employee of year by the IRS.

- Ueli Maurer, Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sports
Maurer likes to defend the Swiss Army, its militia system and often critizes the political pressures of the EU and USA on Switzerland. He, however, asked forgiveness to the Jews for not mentionning (during the International Holocaust Remembrance Day) that Switerland made "mistakes" during WWII. Asking forgiveness for what you don't say, great.

- Didier Burkhalter, Federal Department of Foreign Affairs
Wants Switzerland's laws to be automaticaly copied onto the UE laws. He surely wants Switzerland to join the EU but he can't say it as at least 80% of the Swiss are against it.

- Simonetta Sommaruga, Federal Department of Justice and Police
Doing her best to flood the country with all kind of third-world immigrants. Elected best nigger-lover of the year.

- Johann Schneider-Ammannm, Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research
Likes to signe free-trade agreement with as many countries as he can, starting by China, Costa Rica, Panama and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- Alain Berset, Federal Department of Home Affairs
Switzerland being a federal state, a Department of Home Affairs is pretty much useless.

At least, they are all Swiss... no niggers or Jews... yet. Four females though.

- No, Madam Widmer-Schlumpf, you must sign under "Switzerland" not "USA"...
- Oh... sorry... old habits die hard!

Both chambers have accepted that FACTA be applied in Switzerland. Only the SVP has voted against it. What they call an "optional referendum" will be started for the Swiss people to have the last word (50,000 signatures needed in 3 months).

This Sunday:

73.2% of the Swiss people and all the states refused to abolish conscription. The referendum was launched by the "Group for a Swiss without an Army". I believe they have lost all referendum they have launched.

In the Italian-speaking state (Ticino), a referendum to ban the burka in public places was accepted by 65% of the voters.

In the state of Zurich, 75% of the voters refused to allow foreigners to vote on the municipality elections and referendum.

The town of Zurich refused by 50.8% of the votes to pay CHF 216 million for a new football stadium.

The optional referendum failed, only 30,000 signatures were collected. Only individuals and small organisations (no party) participated to the collect.

Default Swiss immigration vote

A Swiss referendum on whether to bring back strict immigration quotas

If approved, the measures will end Switzerland's free movement of people agreement with the European Union.

Since 2007, most of the EU's 500 million residents have been on an equal footing with locals in the Swiss job market - the result of a policy voted into law in a 2000 referendum.

But a coalition led by the right-wing Swiss People's Party now wants to reverse this deal, saying it was a huge mistake.

Supporters of quotas believe free movement has put pressure on housing, health, education, and transport - and they also argue that foreign workers drive salaries down.

And the Swiss said YES! But, by a really small margin: 50,34%. All French speaking states refused it, whereas only the German speaking states of Basel-Stadt, Zurich and Zoug refused it. The state with the most YES is Ticino.

http://www.admin.ch/ch/f/pore/va/20140209/det580.html

A small town in the state of St. Gall banned the muslim veils in schools (the votes comes after two Somali girls wearing it).

However, the Swiss massively refused to exclude abortion costs from the mandatory health insurance (70% NO).

Also, the Basel-Stadt state accepted a law which was put to referundum that says at least 30% of the administration employees must be women.

Basel-Stadt is what we call a half-state. The other half is Basel-Landschaft. Stadt means "city" which means leftists and Landschaft means "country-side" which means farmers and peasants. The state split up for this reason in 1833.

Zurich is known as the economic capital of Switzerland. All the Jews live there... There is of course a country-side but the demographics must have played against them.

Zoug hosts a lot of companies and multi-nationals as it's the state where they will have to pay the less taxes. However it was refused there with 50.1%.

Only people with Swiss nationality are allowed to vote. There is, however, at least 700,000 persons alive who have been naturalized.

Excellent explanation, thank you.

In the British Isles in addition to mass immigration we now have the horrible problem of (native) people escaping from the cities into our countryside, such as it is. They are invariably leftists.

Well done to Swiss patriots and Swiss People's Party! Mainstream news outlets now seem in a state of hysteria:

Vote on immigration is huge disappointment
The government says it is a huge blow.

“It is a vote against the business community, and the organizations which represent it – all of which were against the initiative. And finally it’s against the political parties. A lot of them now must be wondering why so many of their supporters haven’t followed them – or only partly – on such essential issues.” Sommaruga continued.

It means that Switzerland will have to abandon its free movement of people treaty with the European Union.

We might think that we got lucky with the 50.34% but when all the media, all the political parties (except the SVP, who launched the referendum, the Lega dei Ticinesi, The Greens (leftists, but only supported by the Ticinesi section) and the MCG (Geneva)), all syndicates and all economic organisations it's actually quite a good score.

And yes, just like with the ban on minaret, all media outside Switzerland will take about us, and all Swiss patriots are really going to enjoy this.

I really feel like, once more, the Swiss are a voice for the other Europeans country.

Can anyone here tell me answers (who live in Swiss) about following questions:
1.How many non-whites have this country? (at least approximately)
2. Which is situation about national homogeneit,ie how percentage Swiss live in this land?

When I get answer about this two questions I can give short review of this referendum .

[nyt report -- sum it up? a win for The People. a loss for the jews]

Swiss Voters Narrowly Approve Restrictions on Immigration

By MELISSA EDDYFEB. 9, 2014

BERLIN — A narrow majority of voters in Switzerland approved proposals on Sunday that would reintroduce restrictions on the number of foreigners who are allowed to live and work in the country, a move that could have far-reaching implications for Switzerland’s relations with the European Union.

The referendum on the changes to the country’s liberal immigration law was a rebuke to the Swiss government, the banking industry and business leaders who had lobbied against the restrictions, warning that such a move could endanger Switzerland’s prosperity. Right. No, I totally believe that. And I totally believe that's the real concern motivating those noble, selfless leaders.

The admonitions failed to drown out the warnings of the rightist Swiss People’s Party, which introduced the referendum that it said was necessary if Switzerland was to retain its identity in the face of immigration. Don't they know it's a hate crime for any nation or ethnic group but Israel and jews to retain its identity?

Switzerland, which is not part of the European Union, has one of the highest proportions of foreigners in Europe, accounting for about 27 percent of the country’s population of about eight million. Many job seekers have arrived from countries hit hard by the European economic crisis.

Immigration has become a polarizing issue across Europe. More prosperous nations are growing worried that their welfare systems cannot handle an influx of workers from the economically weaker Eastern European countries.

Far-right parties with anti-immigrant platforms in France, the Netherlands and Norway have gained strength in recent years, and there have been sharp debates in Britain and Germany over limiting the number of immigrants from Bulgaria and Romania because citizens from those countries gained full access to European Union job markets this year.

The Swiss initiative foresees annual quotas on the number of immigrants allowed to work in the country, as well as limits for specific sectors. It would also require that preference be given to Swiss applicants for open positions. Gee, how totally wacky: favoring Swiss over non-Swiss when it comes to jobs and benefits.

The proposal passed with the support of 50.3 percent of those who voted; 56 percent of eligible voters cast ballots. The largest cities, Zurich and Basel, rejected the vote, and smaller cities and rural areas supported it.

In Brussels, the European Commission issued a statement saying that it was “disappointed” that the initiative had passed, adding that it would have to study the vote’s implications on relations between the European Union and Switzerland.

The outcome on Sunday seemed to shows the differences between the government and industry on the one hand and voters, who approved the introduction of curbs on excessive salaries for business executives two years ago. “We always thought the argument about jobs would win people over,” Urs Schwaller, a lawmaker with the centrist Christian People’s Party, said in an interview with the Swiss television channel SRF. “Clearly, that wasn’t enough.”

The Swiss People’s Party has been particularly skillful at using such popular votes to push for immigration controls in recent years. After growing pressure, the government reintroduced quotas in 2012 limiting the number of work permits that could be issued for European Union citizens.

The vote on Sunday also comes at a time when Switzerland is under intense pressure from France, Italy and other European countries that want its banking system to become more transparent. Last year, Switzerland and the United States reached a deal to punish Swiss banks that had helped Americans evade taxes. Transparent = destruction of privacy. All things formerly private must be opened to prying ZOG eyes, while it's a federal crime (see Snowden) if you reveal what they are up to.

“It is far more than a political slap in the face,” the left-leaning newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung wrote in an editorial published on its website after the result was announced. “The Yes to the ‘Massive Immigration Initiative’ is a censure that is comparable to No to the European Economic Area.

“What the verdict means for relations between Switzerland and the E.U. is completely open, but it certainly won’t be good for the economic vitality and prosperity in this country.”

This planet is crowded and there is essentially an infinite supply of labor out there...ready to come to your shore at the drop of a hat. This infinite labor supply has destroyed the middle class. I wish the US could take a lesson here and the NY Times could stop pushing for open borders.

Although 1st generation immigrants may be hard workers & good citizens, viewing the dissatisfaction, alienation, tribalism of the children of immigrants particularly from illiberal & undemocratic traditions, see, e.g. France, this seems like a vaild response of the Swiss people. Of course the elites, who are shielded from the blowback & the capitalists, looking to exploit cheap labor & driving down the costs of native labor, favor feckless immigration. Like so many government policies, multi-culturism is shoved down the masses whose interests they rarely represent.

Let's hear it for the Swiss! This was a lucky break which, of course, was opposed by their French cohort, since the French have already ceded so much of THEIR national identity to unasked-for foreigners that no one recognizes the place anymore except for its historical value. Their culture - either disappearing or already gone.

Now you see why the Aussies are all so alert to incursions of the untrained, uneducated, and (usually) diseased. Now, these two are REAL countries. (Insert mournful sniff here.)

I have always held Switzerland as a model for other countries. It has always run effectively because the population that is Swiss not only cares about what goes on, and studies the issues, but votes. They also make very pricy, expensive machinery both large and very small.

I would hate to see the country become any less Swiss.

Only an economist would not understand what happens to a rich country when it is inundated with poor, unskilled, and uneducated immigrants. There are no jobs for these immigrants, just as there are no jobs for their own citizens of this type, so unless the country wants to provide the immigrant and their family welfare benefits for life, they will wind up on the streets, as has happened throughout Europe and the US.

It is a sad situation, but bankrupting wealthy nations and turning them into poor nations is not the solution.

To claim that Switzerland or any other country is xenophobic is too simplistic. No country, rich or poor, wants low skilled and uneducated immigrants of *any* race or ethnic origin. Those who doubt this need only ask if Switzerland would accept tens of millions of English-speaking, white immigrants with no skills or no job prospects.

What such a large influx means that instead of being a benefit to society, they are a burden. Instead of integrating into their new culture, they cling to the same old ways, which are a part of the problem in their home country. That this is unintentional changes nothing.

It is not realistic or sustainable to ask rich countries, who are having problems taking care of their own citizens, to become the welfare system to the entire world.

I am waiting for the comments that the Swiss are racist. Or how racist it is for a nation to wish to protect its identity. The 6 comments posted thus far say the opposite. It amazes me how issues of immigration and national identity are treated differently depending on the nation involved. Treated differently by both the commentators and the NYT

Europe stunned, angry as Swiss vote to curb immigration

By Tyler Durden, Zero Hedge
Blacklisted News

Monday, Feb 10, 2014

This wasn't supposed to happen. At a time when the European Union, reeling from the ongoing near collapse of the Eurozone, has been preaching its key benefits - the removal of borders and the free transit of labor - moments ago Switzerland, with a tiny majority of 50.4%, voted in favor of new immigration curbs which requires the government to set an upper limit for foreigners, risking a backlash from the (utterly toothless) European Union.

In some ways this was a vote of the urban vs rural population: Voters in the cities of Zurich and Basel and cantons in western Switzerland opposed the measures, while those in rural German- speaking cantons and the Italian-speaking region of Ticino backed it, reports Bloomberg.

The problem for Europe is that the backlash against immigration was supposed to be a PIIG thing, having led to the surge of such nationalist parties as Golden Dawn in Greece, but they don't matter as the will of the "peripheral" people is completely ignored in Europe. However, now that one of Europe's most successful nations has opined against the free importing of labor, despite the prevalent perception that it has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of immigration, Switzerland has just left Europe's pro-migration propaganda in shambles. To wit, from Bloomberg:

Quote:
Immigration has supported economic growth, and the EU bloc is Switzerland’s top export destination. Roughly a fifth of its 8 million inhabitants come from abroad. About 45 percent of employees in its chemical, pharmaceutical and biotech industry are foreigners, according to scienceindstries, an association whose members include drugmakers Roche Holding AG and Novartis AG, and food company Nestle SA.

“We do need to hire talented individuals,” Credit Suisse Group AG Chief Executive Officer Brady Dougan told reporters on Feb. 6. “Having access to talent is something that’s important for all the businesses here.”

In the run-up to the vote, the initiative “against mass immigration” pitted companies small and large against the euro- skeptic Swiss People’s Party SVP, the biggest in the lower house of parliament. Corporations argued they need top talent from around the world to maintain their competitive edge, while critics, many of them members of the SVP, said the flood of newcomers is leading to worse working conditions, crowded trains and a housing shortage.
The unexpected outcome may lead to some dramatic consequences for Switzerland: according to Thomas Kern, chief executive officer of Zurich Airport, a “yes” to the vote could even jeopardize the country’s aviation industry by forcing the re-negotiation of landing rights. the ULTIMATE harrah - forced to renegotiate landing rights! had a nightmare about that last night “A lot is at stake,” he told the newspaper Blick in an interview published on Feb. 7.

Quote:
In response about public unease about the number of newcomers, the government already enacted yearlong curbs on residence permits for citizens of EU countries including Germany and France. There are also quotas for citizens of non-EU countries such as Australia and Canada.
Ironically, it could get even worse for fans of free labor movement before it gets better: "in a sign of how anxious the Swiss population is about foreigners, another initiative, which would cap the immigration rate at 0.2 percent of the resident population, is in the pipeline. The government, which opposes that measure too, hasn’t set a voting date yet."

What remains unsaid here is that immigration will be the least of Swiss worries if, as the SNB has been warning for the past week, the Swiss housing market - already in an unprecedented bubble - undergoes a controlled demolition, precisely at a time when foreigners suddenly find themselves no longer welcome in the one-time netural utopia nestled within the tranquility of the Alps.

Regardless of the outcome for the Swiss economy, Europe is furious:

Quote:
The vote also risks creating a rift between Switzerland and the EU, its biggest trading partner. The decision to open the borders 12 years ago was negotiated as part of a package of agreements that allow Swiss companies access to the common market, the government has warned.

According to European Commission President Jose Barroso, the free movement of persons was of “fundamental importance” and cannot be separated from the free exchange of goods, services and capital. “Within the framework of the bilateral agreement there are certain legal consequences,” Barroso told the Neue Zuercher Zeitung in an interview last November.

“That’s the open question -- one doesn’t know what the EU will do,” said Andreas Ladner, professor of public administration at the University of Lausanne. “The EU has indicated that the initiative violates its free movement of people and won’t be tolerated.”

So now that the unthinkable has happened, just what will the unelected European bureaucrats do to enforce its "untoleration" of the Swiss democratic vote": invade the mountainous country? Hardly.
Instead Europe will content itself with doing the only thing it knows how to do: use harsh language, in this case the following email it blasted out angrily in the aftermath of the Swiss vote, saying that "the European Commission regrets that an initiative for the introduction of quantitative limits to immigration has been passed by this vote. This goes against the principle of free movement of persons between the EU and Switzerland."

Most importantly, it also goes against the core European principle of ignoring what the majority wants because everyone in centrally-planned, banker-controlled, insolvent European nations knows- only a few "good" unelected bureaucrats know what is best for everyone. Boom goes the dynamite! As such the democratic vote must always be ignored, especially when it goes against the thesis preached by the politicians, the central bankers, and, of course, Goldman Sachs.

Thumbs up

Yves Nidegger of the UDC said that a majority of Swiss people had rejected the “alarmist” tactics of business and mainstream parties who had warned that the “ten plagues of Egypt ” would strike the country if it voted “yes”.

Far from taking their revenge by ejecting Switzerland from its EU trade agreements, he said, many European countries would soon follow the “respectable and exemplary” Swiss lead and impose their own curbs on free movement of people within Europe.

1. According to the 2012 official statistics, 63.5% of foreigners come from the EU (= EU 27). The highest number of non-white foreigners live in German-speaking states. Also, quite some Albanians have been given citizenship...
2. Approximately, 2 million foreigners, 6 millions Swiss including 700k naturalized.

I would say this "diversity" is possible due to the federalist nature of Switzerland. Every region/state used to be a group of like-minded individuals. And when a state had problems from within it would split up like Basel (city vs countryside) and Appenzell (protestant vs catholics) [1]. There are also Nidwald and Obwald although I am not sure why they split up, I heard it was because of ethnicity (germanic vs latin people), not sure though...

Now, with the federal government being more and more centralized and the population of each state being more and more heterogeneous, tensions are beginning to appear...

[1] we could argue if this is a good thing or not... with Appenzell, we can see how christianity aims to divide Europeans.
