Default Changing Media Attitudes Toward Queers

A 1963 New York Times report, headlined “Growth of Overt Homosexuality in City Provokes Wide Concern,” cited the general belief “that strict enforcement of the law against seduction of minors is important to protect borderline cases from adult influences that could swing them toward homosexual orientation when heterosexual adjustment was still possible.”

Law enforcement was especially homophobic. In most states, homosexuality (sodomy) was a punishable offense. In many cities, the police engaged in entrapment campaigns, sending uncover officers into public restrooms, bathhouses, or gay bars to be propositioned or to offer sex before making an arrest, often fabricating evidence. In fact, some police officers extorted money from closeted gay men to keep their secret hidden—“fairy shaking” as it was known. At best, authorities were indifferent, particularly to crimes against, and especially between, gay men. Coroners might tell reporters at a murder scene that the cause of death was “loose sphincter.” Reporters would then understand it was a gay-on-gay attack, heading back to the “press shack” at headquarters muttering about yet another un-newsworthy “homo-cide.”

NY Times 1963:

"Mr. Hostetter said the Heights supper Club had a signal light system “that warned the boys to stop dancing with one another” when a newcomer was suspected of being a policeman. The Fawn had a back room to which an admission was charged and where as many as 70 to 80 deviates had parties on Friday and Saturday nights."

NY Times 2002:

WEDDINGS/CELEBRATIONS; Daniel Gross, Steven Goldstein
Published: September 01, 2002

Daniel Andrew Gross and Steven Goldstein will affirm their partnership today in a civil union ceremony at the Shore Acres Inn and Restaurant in North Hero, Vt. Assistant Judge Barney Bloom of State Superior Court in Montpelier will preside. Last evening, Rabbi David M. Steinberg led an exchange of Jewish vows at the Musée des Beaux-Arts of Montreal.

Default Enquirer reports OJ on DL in prison.

“O.J. is doing the best he can living in the prison world sur*rounded by men. I don’t know if he has become gay. He always loved women and was a lusty lover, but any*thing can happen to a man behind bars. He has to be the center of attention wherever he is, and in prison he still plays that game. He is the star and has all the other prisoners looking up to him.”

If this is true, O.J. Simpson has placed himself at the center of a criminal, and highly promiscuous, population group; where statistical averages run as high as 75% of the population for the following three diseases: hepatitis, HPV and HIV. Considering that at 65 years of age, he has already exceeded the average lifespan of an NFL player (56 yrs), if he is engaged in homosexual behavior while in prison, actuarial tables place his survival at less than five years.

It is interesting to note the apologetic tone and comments made by the journalist, such as, "anything can happen to a man behind bars." Actually, little journalist hack, outside of forcible rape it doesnt. Most men don't willingly engage in homosexual behavior while serving time in prison, but it is also of note that white, Asian, and Hispanic prisoners all report far lower incidents of homosexual sex while incarcerated (up to 4-8 times less), than A.A. prisoners, and statistics show rates of infection with the aforementioned three viral agents among non-A.A> prisoners to be less than 30%, instead of the 75% reported for prisoners overall. This is due in part to the fact that indentified A.A. prisoners make up over half of the entire U.S. prison system.

Default Olympics for gays or apotheosis of unfair ideology

Western media have crossed the bounds of common sense as they grow increasingly adamant in their desire to disrupt the Sochi Olympics over a Russian law banning homosexual propaganda to minors, which left them fuming with rage. Opponents of the law post angry comments at the online forums of leading US newspapers, calling Russia a “plague”, accusing it of ethnic and racial discrimination and demanding a boycott of the Games. But the worst may yet to come.

Cyd Zeigler, the founder of the California-based media company, has raised many eyebrows recently when he suggested something absolutely offbeat. The Olympics must be allowed to take place, he says, and foreign athletes must travel to Sochi, but the International Olympic Committee must be forced to bar Russian athletes from the Olympic sporting events. That would be killing two birds with one stroke: the gay athletes would not have to miss the Olympics, while Russia would be duly punished for presumably abusing the rights of the so-called LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community.
