Batman 1989 movie - for me the best ( and most original )
I truly like the first Batman movie which came out in 89 . . For me it was the best . . Why ? First of all , I think nothing beats Nicholson playing the Joker . . Second , the plot . . Gotham City ( a fictitious city located in the USA ) is synonymous with the word 'crime' . . The reason is a man called Grissom who is corrupt , the boss of a gangster syndicate , who has pretty much all people in important positions in the city on his financial list . . Including a police chief called Lt. Eckhardt . . Grissom finds out that one of his main men , Jack Napier , is betraying Grissom with his girlfriend . . Which is why he sets him a trap . . Napier falls into a tub of chemicals , becoming 'The Joker' afterwards , a villain with a constant smile . . He kills Grissom in revenge and afterwards takes command over his people . . . They terrorize Gotham . . They try it via 'Smile X' , a poison contained in shopping ware and later being set free during a supposed 'city anniversary'-celebration . . Batman stops him . . I truly like this movie the most . . Nothing beats the original . . First of all , the gloomy atmosphere of Gotham City , a city ridden by crime is very well set up . . Second , the plot is still the best IMO . . What does everybody here think about that movie ? |

Jack Nicholson was great casting as the Joker in the 1989 film.
I still like the 1966-68 TV series best, since that's what I grew up with.

He always had that face expression of a 'diabolical clown' , althrough his acting career . . From 'Easy Rider' . . . . to 'The Shining' . . Perfect choice . . I still like his 'old' role in 'Easy Rider' . . Btw , my fav. scen from that movie . . Quote:

For the record , I thought the sequel to the first one ( Batman Returns ) was the worst of all Batman-movies . .
A weird plot . . A young boy is set out by his rich parents at an early age . . Years later people speculate about a 'Penguin' looking figure living in Gotham's underground . . It is Christmas time in Gotham . . Industrial tycoon 'Max Shrek' is planning to fool Gotham by installing a supposed 'power plant' which in reality sucks the energy from the city and plans to hoard it . . His female assistent finds out about the plot . . In revenge he tosses her out of a window of his corporate building . . Due to the shock she has suffered she becomes 'Catwoman' , a furious female out for destruction . . 'The Penguin' and Shrek team up , Shrek promising the Penguin who was set out by his rich parents at an early age a promising future as mayor of Gotham . . He thereby plans to get rid of the present mayor who opposes his supposed 'power plant' project . . There is a lot of intrigue . . Batman rises to fight the Penguin and also gets himself into quarrels with Catwoman during the movie . . In the end the plot of Shrek and the Penguin fails and the Peguin vows revenge not only towards Shrek who he feels has let him down but towards the whole city . . He plans to abduct Gotham's first born sons . . Batman impedes that and the showdown between Batman , the Penguin , Catwoman and Shrek starts . . Catwoman murders Shrek in the Penguin's hideout and in the end the Penguin also dies from the heat he is exposed to while his hideout is exploding . . Catwoman , however , does survive . . Two notes concerning that movie though . . I find it interesting how Christopher Walken is mostly cast for the role of wealthy tycoons . . Most ironically in "Bond - A View To A Kill" his surname was also 'Max' ( Max Zorin ) . . On a second note , at least the soundtrack was something . . . |

Speaking of Catwoman, Lee Meriwether was my favorite one.
And I can relate to this guy:

Hmmmmm . .
You know , we have a saying in Germany which translates as "Someone used to be young and beautiful now all he / she is is "and" . ." But no beef , age stops for none of us . . Except for those who achieved 'eternal youth' of course . . Quote:

Guess I was thinking of Lee Meriwether because I saw her the other evening in the Star Trek episode 'That Which Survives.'
