Post British driver ambushed in Calais by migrant mob rolling a TREE in front of his van

By Jennifer Newton for MailOnline

Published: 05:11 EST, 12 August 2016 | Updated: 14:11 EST, 13 August

This is the terrifying moment a mob of Calais migrant wielding metal bars rolled a tree in front of a British driver's van in a bid to ambush him.

Glen Shadbolt, 39, managed to escape the trap by driving his 3.5 tonne Sprinter van over the obstacle only to see motorists stuck behind being him being forced to stop and mugged by the gang.

The horrifying incident on the dual carriageway at the French port was captured on his dashcam as he returned to the UK from a trip to Brussels on Monday.

Post Uk-french meeting in calais to discuss care of unaccompanied migrant children

Calais child crisis: As 4,000 lone children claim asylum in Britain, French and UK authorities head to the packed Jungle to thrash out how to home them

French and UK officials will meet to discuss how to deal with thousands of lone children across Europe
Councils from the Local Government Association will meet outspoken Calais mayor Natacha Bouchart
Number of British-bound migrants in notorious Calais camp has doubled to 9,000 in the past six months

British and French authorities will meet in the packed 'Jungle' as they discuss how to care for the thousands of unoccupied children across Europe.

More than 4,000 lone children are claiming asylum in the UK, with councils tasked with ensuring they are resettled and cared for.

Councils from the Local Government Association will visit the makeshift camp and meet with Calais mayor Natacha Bouchart to try and get a grip on the ongoing refugee crisis.

It comes as it was revealed the number of British-bound migrants in the notorious Calais camp has doubled to 9,000 in the past six months.

It has jumped by 2,000 in the last month alone - and there are fears it could rise to 10,000 by September.

In June there were 761 minors living in the camp - 608 of them (80 per cent) are unaccompanied by an adult.

The youngest child is just four months old, and the youngest unaccompanied child is eight years old.

The surge in numbers comes after French officials warned last week that increasing numbers of jihadi extremists could be hiding among the refugees at the sprawling site near the ferry port.

The squalid camp is also rife with disease, violence and prostitution and had a become a 'no-go zone' for police who are frequently attacked with iron bars and rocks when they try to enter.

The meeting follows of months of tensions about the state of refugee care after the Brexit vote.

Calls were made by French officials in June for border checks on the British side of the English Channel, paving the way for the refugees to make their way to English shores.

Calais' outspoken mayor has previously blamed Britain's 'black market economy' and 'cushy benefits system' for the thousands of migrants in her town.

She said last year: 'Calais is a hostage to the British. The UK border should be moved from Calais to the English

Post Calais migrants: Britain-bound driver threatened by refugees with chainsaws

Rhys Williams was approaching the port in the lawless French town in the early hours when his Mercedes' windows were shattered by a gang of asylum seekers from the sprawling Jungle camp.

He told how a mob of migrants ran onto the road brandishing chainsaws and throwing Molotov cocktails at the police and passing traffic in scenes that "resembled a war zone".

The 53-year-old, who is an operations manager for the Road Haulage Association (RHA), was left covered in glass after his front and back door windows were shattered.

And it is the second time eyewitnesses have reported migrants using chainsaws during raids on the motorway amid fears they are becoming increasingly violent in their attempts to reach the UK.

Mr Williams said: "I was on the pitch black approach road to the port at about 1am in the morning when there was an almighty bang to the side of my car.

"Two or three migrants had thrown a massive boulder that smashed my windows and damaged the rear door, driver's door and the pillar in-between.

"Two police vans were trying to contain 50 to 60 migrants that had come onto the carriageway with chainsaws and Molotov cocktails, throwing them at the trucks, the traffic and the police.

"They were chopping down trees and setting fire to them to block the road, there was no way the police could cope.

"In the middle of all this was a small family car, the occupants were clearly distressed.

"It was something that I can only imagine would resemble a war zone."

Mr Williams, from Bicester in Oxfordshire, said the incident earlier this month should be a warning to holidaymakers heading through the port.

He said: "They used to target the trucks but now it has taken another slant, no vehicle is safe, they are doing anything they can to stop the traffic so they can climb into stationary trucks.

"I don't want to scare people but with the next two weeks being peak holiday season there will be a lot of people making their way to Calais, it's really not a place families should be travelling through.

"I was covered in glass in my car, I dread to think what could have happened if there was a child in the back.

"My car is still in the body shop, the cost of repair will be £2000 to £3000 plus the cost of a hire car.

"Unless the authorities do something soon someone will be killed, that's not scaremongering, it could be a lorry driver or a holidaymaker."

Migrants from the Calais camp, which has ballooned in recent weeks to a population of 9,000 and rising, have been trying to board vehicles to gain entry to the UK.

Earlier this week it emerged that one gang of asylum seekers had thrown a sharpened stake through the windscreen of a lorry on its way to Britain, with the driver only narrowly avoiding death.

And Mr Williams said: "Migrants are trying to get into the UK are now using very sophisticated techniques to get into vehicles.

"The drivers are liable to pay £2,000 per migrant found in their trucks - it's a huge worry for them.

"The RHA is call

Post Sarkozy demands UK takes Calais migrants

The former French President, who is attempting a political comeback, said Britain should let migrants currently camped out in Calais into the country.

It is estimated there are up to 9,000 migrants packed into squalid conditions inside the Calais camp known as The Jungle, with many hoping to make the crossing into Britain.

Mr Sarkozy told a political rally in northern France: "I'm demanding the opening of a centre in Britain to deal with asylum seekers in Britain so that Britain can do the work that concerns them.

Mr Sarkozy said Britain should manage the asylum process, accepting those it wants on British territory and organising charters to remove those who are rejected.

He was speaking in Touquet, where in 2003, France signed a symbolic border treaty with Britain. Under Le Touquet accord, British officials can check passports in France and vice versa.

Images of hundreds of migrants trying to leap onto trucks bound for Britain and security concerns have prompted French politicians to threaten to tear up Le Touquet treaty and move the British border back across the channel.

Mr Sarkozy's conservative rival Alain Juppe, who opened his presidential bid on Saturday and is considered the frontrunner in the party's presidential primaries, has called for the treaty to be renegotiated.

Mr Sarkozy’s remarks come days after Dover and Deal MP Charlie Elphicke has submitted a report to Home Secretary Amber Rudd urging her to seek a new treaty with France to tackle the ongoing problems caused by the squalid encampment.

As well as wanting it removed, he complained that French police compound the issues by simply letting go any people traffickers or smuggled migrants that they find - thus freeing them to attempt repeated further illegal and hazardous crossings to the UK.

Post Government under pressure to grant asylum to 400 Calais migrant children

The Government is facing fresh calls to accelerate action on the refugee crisis on the anniversary of the death of a Syrian boy whose image prompted a global outcry.

Harrowing pictures of three-year-old Alan Kurdi's tiny, lifeless body on a Turkish beach in September 2015 led to widespread demands for more refugees to be settled in the UK.

On Friday, celebrities including Juliet Stevenson and Vanessa Redgrave, religious leaders and local politicians will urge ministers to immediately bring over hundreds of children stranded in Calais' sprawling migrant camp.

They will gather for a memorial event organised with Citizens UK outside the Home Office in London, before handing in a letter addressed to Home Secretary Amber Rudd.

It will include the names of 387 children said to be eligible for asylum in the UK, including those with family links in the country and those who are to be cared for under a Government commitment to resettle more lone refugee children from Europe.

Lord Dubs, the Labour peer and campaigner who helped force the Government into accepting an amendment to the Immigration Act compelling them to take in more lone minors from Europe said: “I am deeply saddened that despite repeated calls from me and others the Government still seems to be dragging its feet on the commitments it made when the amendment in my name was accepted.

“Now that the new Government has had some weeks to settle in after the EU referendum vote there really is no excuse for any further delay. Theresa May and Amber Rudd should be taking immediate action.”

Since the Act received royal assent in May, more than 30 under 18s have been accepted for transfer from within Europe, the Home Office said.

Toddler Alan drowned in the sea after his family attempted the perilous crossing into Europe across the water.

On Monday alone, Medecins Sans Frontieres said it had helped in the rescue some 3,000 people in the central Mediterranean.

Bishop of Barking Peter Hill said: “It has been established that the UK has a legal obligation to these children, but more to the point, this country has a moral obligation.

“As we mark the first anniversary of the death of Alan Kurdi, and remember all the other refugee children who have died trying to reach safety in the last year, I call on the Government to take a small humanitarian step in rescuing the children of Calais.”

Charity ActionAid's head of humanitarian response Mike Noyes also made a call for more action on the anniversary, saying: “The UK Government and European leaders must urgently welcome more refugees into our countries and provide safe passage for those fleeing conflict and devastation. We cannot wait for another tragedy, another death of a young child to shock us into acting.”

A Home Office spokeswoman said: “Our priority is to protect the best interests of children who are in need of our help.

She added: “We are in active discussions with the UNHCR, other partner organisations and the Italian, Greek and French g

Post Top British horsewoman tells of her terror as horsebox was attacked by gang of armed migrants in Calais

By Arthur Martin In Calais For The Daily Mail

Published: 16:00 EST, 1 September 2016 | Updated: 16:00 EST, 1 September

A leading British horsewoman has described the terrifying moment when her horsebox was attacked by a gang of armed migrants in Calais.

Lucy Phillips, 26, of Solihull near Birmingham, was returning from a world championship equestrian event with her parents when their route to the ferry terminal was blocked by felled trees.

Up to 10 migrants then jumped out of the bushes on the roadside and threatened them with bats and tree branches.

Dressed head to toe in black, the young men started hitting the side of the horsebox and then smashed a passenger window.

When Miss Phillips jumped into the back of the truck to calm her horse down, she heard the migrants trying to get in through the side door.

The horsewoman, who represents Britain in equestrian vaulting, pulled the handle of the door towards her to stop the young men from getting inside.

Post Riot police fire tear gas at hundreds of migrants trying to escape the Jungle camp so they can smuggle onto cars and lorries heading to Britain

By Sarah Dean and Press Association

Published: 05:29 EST, 2 September 2016 | Updated: 05:54 EST, 2 September

Riot police have once again been forced to fire tear gas at migrants attempting to ambush UK-bound traffic in Calais.

Hundreds of refugees living in the sprawling Calais Jungle camp were pushed back on Thursday after they reportedly tried to access the motorway that leads to the port.

The lengths migrants are going to in their desperate bid to get to Britain have reportedly escalated in recent weeks as The Jungle population continues to swell.

There has been an escalation in the disorder with reports of gangs using trees to block roads before masked men wielding sticks threaten motorists that stop.

The gangmasters then direct migrants to lorries queuing in the ensuing traffic jams in an attempt to stow away aboard vehicles destined for Britain.

By Peter Allen In Paris for MailOnline

The vast ‘Jungle’ camp full of UK-bound migrants in Calais is set to be torn down, French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve announced today.

As he prepared to visit the port town, the Socialist politician said he wanted to see the thousands living there dispersed to other parts of France.

It follows pledges by his conservatives opponents, including former president Nicolas Sarkozy, to also raze the Jungle, but to send those living there straight to Britain.

Post Minister to visit Calais as anti-migrant tension rises

Sorry we are not currently accepting comments on this article. Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve is to visit the French port city of Calais three days before residents, local businesses, dockers and truckers plan protests to demand that an overcrowded migrant camp be closed.

Cazeneuve meets on Friday with local officials, business representatives and police who man roadways to keep migrants from hopping trucks to Britain.

Record numbers of migrants seeking to get to Britain — possibly more than 9,000 — are currently living in the makeshift camp, reduced in size by half in March.

Authorities have said the camp must be fully dismantled, but protesters want a date. They say migrants have become an economic drain on the city and a stain on Calais' image.

Tensions between migrants have led to clashes, and two died in fights within a month.read full article at source: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/ap/..._campaign=1490

Post France vows to empty "the jungle" in Calais, but British help is not forthcoming. Thousands of refugees waiting to cross the Channel are a French problem alone, London insists.

A general view over the migrant camp opened by NGO Doctors Without Borders with international standards in Grand Synthe, near Calais, France, 07 March 2016. French authorities continued to clear part of Calais' sprawling migrant camp, whose population surged to approximately 6,000 last year. They are trying to encourage migrants to seek asylum in France.

The crowds from the “jungle” camp in Calais will disperse the French Government vows, once more.

Thousands come to Calais in the hope of getting aboard a lorry that crosses the English Channel on board a ferry or through the Channel Tunnel to the U.K. More and more people crowd the camp of those waiting in “the jungle” and a similar camp in Dunkirk.

Evacuating the jungle

Ahead of a visit by Bernard Cazeneuve on Friday, the Nord Littoral regional daily published an interview with the French Interior Minister in which he vows to evacuate thousands “to unblock Calais” and disperse them across France. He also promised to top the 1,900 police force in the area with an additional 200 officers.

The French government is planning to create 5,000 additional accommodation places, in effect decentralizing the jungle. Since October 2015, 5,000 have been dispersed to 161 centers across the nation.

Local authorities have improved conditions, fitting electricity sockets, heating appliances, huts, and shipping containers while aiming to reduce the number of refugees to 1,500 people. On that latest objective authorities are wide off the mark.

French official figures speak of 7,000 migrants from countries of origin that would entitle them to asylum, like Sudan, Afghanistan, Somalia, and Kurds from Syria and Iraq. The number is dynamic, with officials reporting a 53% surge over the summer. As of recent, aid groups L’Auberge des Migrants and Help Refugees suggest the number is closer to 10,000 people. That includes an estimated 800 unaccompanied children.

The U.K takes in children alone

Calais is a French problem.

The British home secretary Amber Russ made clear on Tuesday Britain is unwilling to negotiate a deal by which refugees will be able to apply for asylum in France on U.K soil. The proposal was put forward by the President of the region, Xavier Bertrand, and was immediately dismissed as a non-starter.

EU regulation dictates asylum seekers must apply in the first safe country of entry. For Britain, the jungle is a French problem.

Human rights activists were calling on the British government on Friday to assume responsibility for 387 unaccompanied children in the jungle, the BBC reports.

178 have family in Britain.

The activists handed the list to Home Secretary Amber Rudd on Thursday, that is, a year since the drowning of the Syrian three-year old refugee Alan Kurdi.

The Home Office is planning to transfer 150 children. A spokeswoman for the Home Office said there were consultations with UNHCR and the Italian, Greek and French government to speed up the mechanisms for the identification of unac

Post Carnage in Calais: Horrific crash as jungle migrant gangs target tourists in cars in terrifying new AMBUSH technique that left our journalists covered in blood and needing stitches

By Michael Powell, Abul Taher And Nick Craven For The Mail On Sunday

Published: 16:21 EST, 3 September 2016 | Updated: 21:46 EST, 3 September

Migrants from the Calais Jungle camp are using a deadly new tactic in their attempts to get to Britain.

Ruthless gangs are deliberately causing crashes on the roads to the French port by hurling large objects at cars – then sneaking on to lorries caught up in the resulting tailbacks.

Home Secretary Amber Rudd has spoken out after a team of Mail on Sunday journalists narrowly escaped death last week when three migrants threw a log at their car, forcing it into the path of a 38-ton juggernaut.

After being briefed about the incident, Ms Rudd issued a statement describing the development as 'extremely concerning'.

She added: 'It's vital that people feel safe when using the Channel ports. This shows just how it is in all our interests to combat attempts to enter the UK illegally.'

Reporter Ben Ellery, 32, and photographers Steve Burton and John McLellan were all injured when their British-registered Audi swerved to avoid the missile.

They then hit the lorry, sending their vehicle spinning out of control. The juggernaut dragged the car sideways for about 50 yards.

The three men were later rushed to hospital for treatment. Ellery's head was gashed to the bone after it struck the steering wheel, and he required eight stitches.

McLellan, 60, was left with deep cuts to his face, and Burton, 57, suffered a gash on his head and severe bruising to his back.

Post French People To Hold Rally Demanding Swift Action On The Calais Jungle

The Calais Jungle camp in France keeps increasing in size. The savages located there are continuing to cause all sorts of problems.

Now the French people are organizing a rally demanding swift action by the government to demolish the camp.

It is doubtful that the French government will do anything as any action against these subhumans would be viewed as racist. We probably won’t see resolution to this situation unless the National Front takes over the government.

From Express:

Shopkeepers, police, unionists and farmers are set to join hauliers in calling for the northern section of the camp at the French port to be demolished.

The protest, expected to take place on roads around the town on Monday, is likely to disrupt British cross-Channel travellers.

Talks took place between French organisers and French interior minister Bernard Cazeneuve on Friday.

Pressure has been growing on the French authorities to tackle the problem, which has seen the camp swell in size in recent months.

Now we have brexit it is time for the UK to look globally for a solution to the alien invasion. I suggest Mongolia they are good friends of the UK - Mongolia is sparsely populated - They have great opportunities for mineral mining but the locals are not fond of mining- An astute British foreign secretary could easily convince the Mongolians to take million of our invaders in exchange for our foreign aid budget and other monies saved from welfare benefit payments. I reckon the Mongolians would be happy to take the emigrants giving them a trump card against Russian and Chinese intrigues - A new source of regular income from the UK and a plentiful supply of miners they could put to work among the DJ's, brain surgeons and nuclear physicists currently in or trying to get into the UK are plenty of fit young men that are well suited to mining and arduous labour.
The mongols would find useful work for these blighters and ensure none fall by the wayside. Such a policy would lead to the immediate closure of the jungle and other such places. It would also demonstrate the UK's commitment to globalism and diversity for the liberals and socialists.

Post Afghans seeking asylum in France shoots up 964 per cent in less than 5 months

The research commissioned by French interior minister Bernard Cazeneuve reveals people from Afghanistan are the second biggest immigrant group seeking the right to remain on French territory – with the Sudanese remain the first.

On June 10, Mr Cazeneuve emailed the chief of the French National Police about the rise in the number of people from war-torn Afghanistan seeking asylum in France.

The interior minister asked him to investigate the matter further, and to carry out an official survey that could help pinpoint the causes and the consequences of this emerging trend.

The subsequent survey revealed that the number of asylum claims went from 218 to 2,310 – making Afghans the second biggest refugee population in France.

Sudanese remain the biggest immigrant group, and the number of asylum claims made by them in this period increased by 174 per cent: from 918 to 2,519.

In his email, the interior minister explained that “secondary movements” of migrants were occurring within the European Union; something he said had probably been triggered by the recent implementation of stricter immigration laws in both Sweden and in Germany.

Unable to cross into Sweden and Germany, a vast majority of migrants probably “decided to head to France,” he wrote.

A spokesperson for the interior ministry’s International Cooperation department confirmed the trend and the shifting migrant routes, but said that “90% of Afghan migrants had actually entered France via Italy,” and not via Germany or Sweden.

The study also showed that in Spain, most migrants headed to Calais came to France in the hope of gaining entry into the UK.

The same trend was spotted in Belgium, where local authorities have considered sending out drones to help hunt illegal immigrants trying to cross the Franco-Belgian border.

The study said that in order to curb the number of Afghan migrants seeking asylum in France – and other member states – the EU would have to negotiate a ‘readmission agreement’ with Afghanistan.

But in the short term, the French Interior Ministry has suggested focusing on “developing a more intense collaboration” with the Italian authorities and border police.

A total of 40,072 asylum claims were made in France in the first six months of 2016: an increase of 18.3 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Post Britain to build the 'Great Wall of Calais', one-mile long concrete barrier along motorway to stop migrants sneaking across the Channel

Britain to build the 'Great Wall of Calais': Taxpayers will pay £2million for 13ft high, one-mile long concrete barrier along motorway to stop migrants sneaking across the Channel

Wall will stretch nearly a mile along the main motorway to port of Calais
13ft concrete barrier will replace fencing that has failed to stop stowaways
Supporters say wall would halt the flow of migrants and keep drivers safe
Critics claim the barrier is a 'scandalous waste of taxpayers' cash'

Britain is to build a huge wall in Calais to try to stop migrants sneaking across the Channel.

UK taxpayers will foot the £2million bill for the barrier stretching nearly a mile along the main motorway to the port.

Construction will start soon, ministers announced yesterday.

The 13ft concrete wall will replace fencing that has failed to stop stowaways targeting lorries. Before Britain's vote to leave the EU there was a surge in incursions – mostly from the 'Jungle' camp near Calais that houses 10,000 migrants.

Kate Gibbs of the Road Haulage Association said the wall was a 'scandalous waste of taxpayers' cash' that would simply shift problems farther down the road.

'Money would be much better spent on boosting security along the approach roads,' she added. 'This is being called the Great Wall of Calais but what good will it do? We are telling our drivers not to stop within 150 miles of Calais so they are not targeted by migrants.

'This will be a tiny concrete alleyway that will serve very little purpose and not

A simpler solution is to close all of the destination ports in the UK. In this day and age of the container ship ferries and rail transportation for trucks are not necessary for imports or exports and in fact are not used for bulk of the trade between the UK and France (Mainly new motor vehicles which are already shipped by container ships).
That leaves Air and rail for passenger transport all of which start and finish at terminals with the highest security methods and processes in place. If these two systems are then abused by French based aliens then they to, will have to be closed until such time as the situation is resolved.
