Default Police deploy tear gas as 'Yellow Vest' protest in Paris turns violent

French police deployed as 'Yellow Vest' protests hit Paris

Protesters angry about rising taxes clashed with French police for a third straight weekend and dozens were arrested after pockets of demonstrators built barricades in central Paris, lit fires and threw rocks at officers Saturday.

French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner tweeted that "1,500 troublemakers" were around the Champs-Elysées avenue, outside a perimeter secured by police, who said that 107 people were arrested.

He's like a dog doing what he's told to do.

Macron doesn't like the French people.

According to him, he is part of "the elite", he despises the people

He's an antiracist, pro-immigration and he likes very much young black males...

Don't forget:

Macron was born in Amiens and studied philosophy at Paris Nanterre University, completed a Master's of Public Affairs at Sciences Po and graduated from the École nationale d'administration (ENA) in 2004. He worked as a senior civil servant at the Inspectorate General of Finances and later became an investment banker at Rothschild & Cie Banque.

In August 2007, Macron was appointed deputy rapporteur for (((Jacques Attali's))) "Commission to Unleash French Growth".In 2008, Macron paid €50,000 to buy himself out of his government contract. He then became an investment banker in a highly-paid position at Rothschild & Cie Banque.

In March 2010, he was appointed to the Attali Commission as a member.

The Latest: France’s Macron denounces violent Paris protest

8:10 p.m.

French President Emmanuel Macron is denouncing violent protesters who attacked police and vandalized a Paris monument, promising they will be "held responsible for their acts."

Macron said Saturday that the protests which have left dozens injured and at least 224 arrested "have nothing to do with the peaceful expression of a legitimate anger." He says "no causes justifies" attacks on police or pillaging stores and burning buildings.

Macron said he is holding an emergency government meeting Sunday on the protests. He spoke from the Group of 20 industrial nations summit being held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

A demonstration on December 8th 2018 at Eliseo? The yellow jackets want to "search" Macron

After the clashes of November 24th, after the scenes of chaos and revolts of December 1st, what will happen on December 8th? While it is still too early to say, some instigators are already asking for the mobilization for the fourth consecutive Saturday. And this time, the call is very clear: the goal is called the Elysee.

On one of the main pages of Facebook – "Angry yellow vests" – an "Act 4" is announced for December 8 with the following description: "For all those who are motivated and if things do not move, Saturday, December 8 we will all go (Emmanuel Macron, ed) look for how he had asked. Must take. " The venue of the event, however, remains the Champs-Elysees.

The formulation is harmless, refers to a sentence by Emmanuel Macron pronounced in the margins of the Benalla case that he launched in front of his followers: "If they want a boss, it's in front of you! (…) Let them come and take me." I reply to the French people! "

And although data on network membership is a very dangerous indicator of the reality of participation in a movement, 16,000 Internet users have already announced their participation (knowing that the Paris events did not exceed half of this figure according to data from the Ministry of the Interior, the only ones available) and 95,000 people were "interested" in the middle of the afternoon.

A crisis meeting took place on Sunday 2 at midday at Eliseo to consider the continuation of the chaotic day of the day before. Note that during the last two rounds on Saturday, the Elysée (like the Matignon or the National Assembly) has been isolated from a "safe perimeter".

The Latest: Paris police chief says 112 cars torched in riot

The chief of police in Paris has condemned protest-related rioting in the French capital as unprecedented and unacceptable violence.

Police prefect Michel Delpuech said Sunday that fires were started at six buildings and more than 130 makeshift barricades and 112 vehicles were torched.

Delpuech said some participants in Saturday's rioting used hammers, gardening tools, bolts and aerosol cans in clashes with police.

'Yellow vest' protests knock wind out of French economy

Saturday's protests in Paris turned particularly violent, with protesters from the far-right and far-left mixing with the "yellow vests" and intent on causing as much damage as possible.

The Arc de Triomphe was defaced and avenues off Paris's Champs Elysees were the scene of mass-vandalism.

Shops on the Champs Elysees and in the heart of Paris, including the Apple store and Dior and Chanel boutiques, had their windows smashed. Some others were looted. Prestigious Parisian department stores Printemps and Galeries Lafayette protectively shut their doors on Saturday afternoon.

Luxury groups such as SMCP, Hermes and LVMH, which are heavily dependent on foreign tourists visiting Paris during the Christmas season are likely to suffer, said Berenberg analysts in a report.

France protests: PM Philippe suspends fuel tax rises

Fuel tax rises which have led to weeks of violent protests in France have now been postponed for six months.

The move was announced in a televised address by PM Edouard Philippe, who said anyone would have "to be deaf or blind" not to hear or see the anger.

The protests have hit major cities, causing damage and disruption over the past three weekends.

The "gilets jaunes" (yellow vest) protests have now grown to reflect more widespread anger at the government.

'Yellow vests' riots in Paris cost at least €3M

The estimated damage caused by the last weekend’s protests held by “yellow vests” in French capital Paris against fuel taxes was €3-4 million ($3.4-4.5 million), local media reported on Monday.

Army on the way to Paris? PHOTOS & VIDEOS of French armored vehicles on the move emerge online

Photos and videos of armored vehicles allegedly approaching Paris to be deployed during Saturday’s protests have appeared on Twitter. Earlier, the French PM promised military police vehicles at the rallies.

Even though the government dropped the fuel tax hike after mass protests last week, the Yellow Vests will still march on December 8.

On Thursday evening, Prime Minister Edouard Philippe promised 8,000 additional officers in Paris and 89,000 nationwide to be deployed during the protests. He also announced that “a dozen armored vehicles” belonging to the French Gendarmerie will be rolling on the streets of the City of Lights.

French Police mercilessly beat to blood an unarmed man in Paris. This is only what the camera saw, not even 1% of the brutal beatings and attacks people in France endure. I cannot believe they are beating their own countrymen with such ferocity.

Calls for end to gilets jaunes protests in wake of Strasbourg shooting

French ministers line up to appeal for calm after three die in Tuesday night’s attack

French government ministers have appealed for the nationwide gilets jaunes protests to stop in the wake of the Strasbourg attack.

After a gunman opened fire near a Christmas market in Strasbourg city centre on Tuesday night, killing three people and injuring several more, the justice and interior ministers suggested that the anti-government tax revolt should wind up its nationwide protests and street marches.

Secretary of State for the Interior Ministry Laurent Nuñez said he was “outraged” by claims that the attack in Strasbourg may benefit the government in its struggle against the so-called Yellow Vest movement.

''I don’t understand how anybody could imagine this… We should call it for what it is – such ideas are obviously coming from conspiracy theorists,” he told the media.
