"confirmation bias"
From a blurb in the paper:
When the Lovenstein Institute ranked the U.S. presidents by their IQs, it ranked George Bush Jr. dead last. Liberals had a field day. Except... there was no such thing as the Lovenstein Institute. And even if there were, it is impossible to guess accurately, let alone scientifically measure, the IQs of dead people. That so many people fell for such a preposterous story is an example of what psychologists call confirmation bias: We are inclined to accept information that supports our beliefs.
