This thread is for ideas on keeping tasks simple. Everyday tasks from cooking to home improvement to automotive. Got a better way, then post it up. This thread could be seen as a cousin to the minimalist living thread where the goal is to un-clutter process.
Here is a simple solution to sharpening knives rather kitchen, occupational or hunting and outdoor to EDC, etc. |

Boiled linseed oil is great for preserving and replenishing wood. This ideal for any tool with a wood handle. With tools like hammers, axes and shovels, the linseed oil will actually make the wood swell a little and provide a better fit on the hammer/axe/shovel head. When buying new tools with wood handles, sand the varnish off and apply boiled linseed oil. The varnish is what makes the wood dry out and splinter-crack, which will shorten the life of the handle as well as leather gloves. Discard rags with care, this stuff is highly flamable.
