(JTA) — A survey by the Anti-Defamation League found that significant portions of people in 10 European countries believe a range of antisemitic stereotypes, including more than one in three people in Poland and Hungary.

The ADL measures antisemitic attitudes across a range of countries by asking respondents if they believe a set of 11 stereotypes about Jews, ranging from “Jews have too much power in the business world” to “Jews are responsible for most of the world’s wars.”

This survey, taken from November to January, polled more than 6,500 people across 10 countries: Germany, France, the United Kingdom., Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, Hungary, Ukraine and Russia. The margin of error for Ukraine and Russia was 3.1%, and was 4.4% for the remaining countries.

According to the ADL’s methodology, “survey respondents who said at least 6 out of the 11 statements are ‘probably true’ are considered to harbor anti-Semitic attitudes.” In Hungary, 37% reached that threshold, while the figure was 35% in Poland. In Ukraine, 29% of respondents met that threshold, and in Russia and Spain, the figure was 26%. The lowest figure, 8%, was in the Netherlands.

In the German city of Stuttgart, police arrested a 23-year-old Syrian migrant who is accused of groping several women at an outdoor swimming pool over Pentecost weekend.

In total, seven women, ranging from ages 12 to 18, were sexually assaulted at the swimming pool in three different incidents. Three men in total were taken into custody, including a 23-year-old Syrian migrant.

In the first incident, around 4:45 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, two 18-year-old women were in the family pool at an outdoor pool when two young men swam past them. German new outlet SWR reported that a 13-year-old and a still unknown suspect grabbed the women’s buttocks under the water.

The police immediately arrested a 13-year-old male and then handed him over to his mother without charges.

Later that same day, two men aged 22 and 23 reportedly approached a 12-year-old girl and began touching her private parts. The two men were arrested. The public prosecutor’s office identified one of the men as a 23-year-old Syrian migrant, who has been charged in the case, according to Bild newspaper.

The next day, on Monday, four men aged 20 to 30 groped a total of four girls aged 13, 14, and 15. Police arrested a 29-year-old suspect, who the judge has already released.

Abdulahi Mohamud, prowled the streets of central London in his car before finding a young woman locked out of a home in Noel Street, Soho early on a cold January morning.

CCTV captured a man getting out of a dark car, walking towards the victim and forcing her into the vehicle before driving away.

West Midlands Police officers say it happened on the evening of 26th April in the city centre.

Police say he appears to be holding a toolbox, and they're keen to identify him as part of the investigation into the assault.

Ukrainian troops have shelled a poultry farm in Russia’s Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), killing four people and injuring 16, local officials said on Wednesday morning.

The authorities said that the victims of the attack on the village of Karpaty are construction workers.

Cities and villages in the LPR, as well as the neighboring Donetsk People’s Republic, that are located close to the frontline are being regularly hit by artillery and rocket fire. Three people were killed and seven injured in the LPR over the course of last week alone, according to officials.

At least two people were killed and several more injured in the latest Ukrainian shelling of Russia’s Belgorod Region, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on Friday.

Two residents of the village of Sobolevka were killed outside their homes, Gladkov wrote on his Telegram channel. He added that at least six people were injured, including children. An 11-year-old girl was hospitalized with “a shrapnel injury to the left eye.”

Two more civilians were injured in the city of Shebekino, when a projectile exploded next to their car, the governor said. Both victims were hospitalized with shrapnel wounds, and one of them had sustained a concussion.

The constant shelling prompted the Gladkov this week to announce the evacuation of children from the areas closest to the border with Ukraine.

New information has been revealed about the death of an Israeli Mossad agent, who died in a boat capsizing in Italy last weekend along with two Italian intelligence officers and a Russian woman.

The accident took place on Sunday, 28 May. While Israel had initially acknowledged that the Mossad agent was just a retired member of the security forces, his role as an intelligence officer was eventually revealed. Israel has kept his identity secret. However, Italian sources cited by Reuters identified him as 50-year-old Erez Shimoni.

Around 19 people had been on board, including several other Israeli and Italian intelligence agents. The boat reportedly capsized due to bad weather, with authorities investigating whether it may have been carrying too many people.

In an interview with Israeli radio Reshet Bet released on 1 June, a former Mossad agent revealed that the dead Israeli was not in Italy on a pleasure trip.

According to an investigative Italian media report carried out by Corriere Della Sera, near the lake where the Israelis were on board the boat, there was a “heavy” Russian presence “with large real estate holdings.”

The report states that the Israeli agents may have been “monitoring contacts between Italian and Iranian firms” that were “dealing with civilian components used for drones,” possibly for the Ukraine war.

Other reports suggested that the boat meeting was “an opportunity to exchange information between” Israeli and Italian intelligence agents.

Abel Awusah attacked the three girls in Cambridge between April and July 2022, shortly after arriving in the UK to study at Anglia Ruskin University.

Judge Philip Grey told Cambridge Crown Court the 20-year-old would "prowl" an area "looking for young girls or young women to pick up for sex".

Awusah, of no fixed abode, was detained for seven-and-a-half years.

Officers are looking for a man who they believe was “looking for an opportunity to enter a home” after an alleged attempted rape in Balham.

A around 2.45am on May 6 in Bedford Hill, a man entered a woman’s house after she had fallen asleep in her own living room.

The woman, who police say is in her 20s, was awoken by a stranger who then told her to keep quiet and attempted to sexually assault her.

The incident is being treated as an alleged attempted rape and officers say that it is believed to be an isolated incident.

Nottinghamshire police are appealing for information after two women were sexually assaulted by a cyclist. The first incident happened in Church Street, Lenton, at around 10.30pm on May 28.

The second incident happened near the underpass in Sherwin Road, elsewhere in Lenton, at around 11pm on May 29. Police report say another woman was also approached on Church Street at around 11.10pm on Sunday, May 28, but was not assaulted.

On each occasion a man riding a dark coloured bike asked the women for directions to the nearest gym. The suspect is described as Asian, of slim build and around 5 ft 8 ins tall.

Dozens of migrants found on Greek border river, as Turkey and Greece trade accusations

Dozens of migrants have reportedly crossed from Turkey into Greece via the river Evros. According to Greek radio, a total of 138 migrants, including a large number of children, were found by border guards and rescue teams on a small islet on the Greek side of the river.

A spokesman for the Greek border police told the Greek radio channel RealFM that all migrants were “taken to safety” in smaller groups.

He said that more than 60% of the group -- 53 in the total -- were minors.

"They said they were from Syria," he added, highlighting that authorities on the Turkish side of the border had allegedly not done anything to stop the irregular migrants.

Under a 2016 deal with the European Union, Turkey is supposed to hold back migrants who seek to cross into the bloc.

However, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was just re-elected into his third decade in power last weekend, has repeated threatened to declare the agreement null and void, saying that Turkey is not willing to become "Europe's warehouse for refugees."

A 20-year-old French woman is speaking up about her experience with foreign men sexually harassing her in a video posted by the feminist group Collectif Némésis. In a video that has received hundreds of thousands of views on Twitter, Lea describes how “Maghrebi types,” referring to North African men, sexually harass her.

“Personally, it is always the Maghrebi types who follow, whistle at and insult me,” says Lea.

She refers back to a previous incident, saying, “There was this Maghrebi type who accosted me, asks whether I want drugs, crack, or coke. I refuse, but he insists for another 10 minutes and then asks me whether we could spend the night together. I say no. I want to catch the subway, then he asks whether he can join me. I say no.”

She then recounts how the man did not let the issue go, but instead continued to follow her along with a group of individuals.

“Heading for the tram station, when I see these two individuals together with six others, and I find myself all alone with them in the station. The tram arrives, I board it and remain in front, right next to the driver, so at least if there is a problem, he is right beside me. All of them also board (the tram), stationing themselves at the doors, and at that moment, I don’t feel very reassured. I pull up the (hood) of my sweatshirt so they cannot see me, and the first individual stands right next to me.”

Police in the German state of Thuringia said the fire broke out around 5 a.m. at a facility in the city of Apolda and that one body was recovered from the burned building.

A 9-year-old child was reported missing, police said. They did not say if recovered body belonged to a child.

Writing on Twitter, German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser called the incident “terrible news.” She confirmed an investigation was underway to determine the cause of the fire.

Secret Dutch-Moroccan deal to more easily deport migrants has had ‘hardly any effect,’ investigative report reveals

A deal negotiated in secret between Morocco and the Dutch government to facilitate the easier expulsion of illegal migrants from the Netherlands has had “hardly any effect,” according to an analysis conducted by the joint research editors of NOS and Nieuwsuur.

The agreement on greater cooperation between the two countries was signed in July 2021 but was only made public in December last year.

The basis of the deal would see Morocco provide emergency travel documents for its own nationals illegally residing in the Netherlands, and in exchange, the Dutch government would refrain from commenting on internal affairs in Morocco and would support a Moroccan cultural center in Amsterdam.

However, a NOS/Nieuwsuur investigation into how effective the agreement has been in practice makes grim reading for Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s administration.

Between January 2022 and March 2023, less than 10 percent of the Moroccan nationals that Dutch immigration officials asked Rabat to provide emergency travel documents for were forcibly deported.

A total of 375 individuals were deemed eligible by the Dutch government for deportation, but just 43 received the necessary documentation to be accepted back in Morocco, and only 32 people eventually left the Netherlands with some seeking judicial intervention to prevent their deportation.
