Default How much salt and sugar does cinema popcorn contain?

Quote:
Cinema popcorn can contain up to 30 teaspoons of sugar and almost the daily recommended intake of salt in one box, reveals the Consensus Action on Salt and Health

In an attempt to expose the "misconception that popcorn is a healthy snack" the Consensus Action on Salt and Health (CASH) has revealed popcorn from certain cinemas contain almost the maximum daily recommended intake of salt for an adult.

CASH's survey found that Cineworld's Large Salted Popcorn contains 5.1g of salt, matching the amount of calories found in two Big Mac Meals from McDonalds. The NHS recommend adults do not eat more than 6g of salt
(2.4g of sodium) a day.

And ridiculously overpriced, too. You pay more for popcorn, sodas and other snacks than for the movie ticket.

If the popcorn is oversalted and expensive, think about the cost of the damage being done to your mind .

I don't know how it is in France. But, in the U.S., popcorn used to be only topped with salt and butter. Sprinkling sugar on buttered popcorn would be like sprinkling sugar on a fried egg
