Swiss under pressure over art that Jews were forced to sell
Ronald Lauder says works sold by refugees to fund flight from Nazis should be treated the same as looted art Pressure is growing on Swiss museums to accept that works of art sold by Jewish refugees to help them escape from the Nazis were forced sales, and that the works should therefore be returned to their heirs. Speaking in Zurich last month, Ronald Lauder, the president of the World Jewish Congress, proposed a plan of action, which he described as “long overdue”. http://theartnewspaper.com/news/news...orced-to-sell/ |

Court ruling on Nazi salute hits hot button
A decision by Switzerland’s supreme court that giving a Nazi salute may not always be a criminal act is being met with concern inside and outside the country’s borders. The court ruled on appeal that making a Hitler salute — lifting an arm up into the air at an angle of 45 degrees with a straight hand — is not punishable unless the person involved is proven to be “spreading racist ideology”. http://www.thelocal.ch/20140522/top-...aises-concerns |

Super-rich Swiss village opts for £200,000 fine instead of accepting 10 refugees
A Swiss village, one of the wealthiest in Europe, has refused to take in its government imposed quota of asylum seekers, voting to pay a fine of £200,000 instead. The residents of Switzerland’s alpine resort Oberwil-Lieli, where there are 300 millionaires among a population of 2,200, voted “no” in a referendum over whether to accept just 10 refugees. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/wo...-a7053826.html |

Excellent! It is however a shame that a commune is being forced to pay the federal state for not wanting to accept so-called refugees. I think it was part of the new asylum law that was passed in June 2013. On June 5, 2016, Swiss will have to vote again for or against a new asylum law which gives invaders a free lawyer and allows the federal state to expropriate either Cantons, communes or individuals for housing invaders. Of course, only the SVP is against it...

Rapefugees will get their free lawyer and they'll be accepted faster, the Swiss have said yes to the new law... 66.8% against 33.2%.

The parliament has passed a law which it itself calls "light" in order not to anger the EU (how courageous). A referendum is a modification of the Federal constitution and must therefor be made into law by the parliament. However, any law passed by the parliament can be put to a vote if 50'000 signatures are gathered. Some organisations have already started gathering them and have until April 7. Possible vote on September 24. Meanwhile, a group of leftist degenerates have started a new referendum to cancel the changes accepted 3 years ago. The Swiss will have to vote on that, no date set yet. A right-wing group is also gathering signatures for a new referendum explicitly calling for the exit of Schengen. Maybe in 2100 the issue will be solved, when there'll be no more Swiss in Switzerland... |

The Swiss have naturalized more than 1 million people since 1970, but I guess it's just not enough. The Swiss have accepted to make naturalization easier for grandchildren of immigrants (so-called 3rd generation). Only the SVP was on the NO side. Switzerland gives out around 30 to 50 thousand passports each year. In the following map you'll see of course that the French-speaking Swiss are at the forefront of Progress, a region were more than half are of non-Swiss origin (on average!). You'll also see that the only German-speaking Swiss that refused the constitutional amendment were the rural and catholic ones.

Hostility towards Muslims on the rise in Switzerland
Hostility and discrimination towards Muslim people in Switzerland is on the rise, the Federal Commission against Racism (FCR) said on Monday during a conference at the University of Fribourg. The conference, organized by Fribourg University, religion researchers at the University of Lucerne and the Swiss Centre for Islam and Society (SZIG), discussed the conclusions of the latest studies into the perception of Muslims in Switzerland. https://www.thelocal.ch/20170912/hos...in-switzerland |

Switzerland moves a step closer to voting on nationwide burqa ban
The Swiss may get the chance to vote on the introduction of a nationwide ban on the burqa after campaigners from the so-called Egerkingen committee succeeded in gathering the required number of signatures to push the issue to a referendum. In March 2016 the committee launched a popular initiative to ban the burqa and other full-face coverings and had until this month to gather the 100,000 signatures required under the Swiss system of direct democracy to push it to a public vote. https://www.thelocal.ch/20170913/swi...wide-burqa-ban |

The Swiss town of Nyon refused to welcome more asylum seekers. Result was 55.38% NO. Turnout was 48.11%. As this was a local referendum, foreigners were allowed to vote.
https://translate.google.com/transla...-text=&act=url The parliament of the canton of St. Gallen decided to ban the burqa in public place, following a motion of the SVP. It is already banned in the canton of Ticino. https://translate.google.com/transla...ory%2F28086118 |

Swiss politician convicted of helping migrants enter illegally
A Swiss regional politician was convicted Thursday for helping 24 migrants to illegally cross from Italy into Switzerland and for repeatedly inciting others to do the same. Lisa Bosia Mirra, a Socialist member of the Ticino parliament in southern Switzerland, was found guilty of the offences by a regional court and sentenced to a suspended fine, the ATS news agency reported. She helped Eritreans and Syrians stuck at the train station in Como, near the Swiss border, in mid-2016. https://www.thelocal.ch/20170929/swi...nter-illegally |

More population statistics:
In 2016, Switzerland is composed of 8,419,600 people. 25% foreigners (excluding any foreigners that have permit of less than a year). Age pyramid: Code:
Age Swiss Foreigners 0-19 20.0% 20.5% 20-39 23.5% 36.4% <- 40-64 35.1% 35.2% 65-79 15.3% 6.2% <- 80+ 6.2% 1.6% - natural increase (births minus deaths) was of -10k or -1.7% of the increase - emigration (Swiss leaving the country) was of 87k or -15.6% of the increase - number of naturalisations was of 640k or... +114.0% of the increase. (the 3.3% remaining is due to the inaccurate statistics provided) Note that the natural increase would probably be even worse if 640k foreigners had not been naturalised. Same for foreigners, population going from 1,406,630 to 2,101,146 or +49.3%: - natural increase: 273k or +39.4% of the increase - immigration (coming in minus going back): 1,116k or 160.8% of the increase - naturalisations (which of course decreases the foreign pop): -640k or -92.2% of the increase (the -8.0% remaining is due to the inaccurate statistics provided) That's quite amazing: with a start population of 5.7M, Swiss loses 10k of their own. With a start pop of 1.4M, foreigners give birth to 273k of their own! Final stat, immigration: Code:
Coming in Going back Total 2010 139 495 70 528 68 967 2011 140 508 66 738 73 770 2012 151 002 73 855 77 147 2013 167 248 77 707 89 541 2014 161 149 82 607 78 542 (immigration referendum on 09.02.2014) 2015 162 563 86 528 76 035 2016 167 407 90 088 77 319 |

The SVP/UDC is launching a new referendum against immigration. This one explicitly mentions the end of Schengen. They are doing this because after 4 years the parliament/government has done nothing to change the situation. Signatures gathering will start in a few weeks.

Zurich police will no longer automatically name nationality of crime suspects
Police in the city of Zurich will no longer name the nationality of a suspected offender in press releases, arguing that to do so is discriminatory and inappropriate. City councillor Richard Wolff, head of the city’s security department, ordered the new measure, which is backed by centre and left-wing parties. In a statement, the department said “the regular mention of nationality in police reports is discriminatory because it suggests that the offence can be explained by the nationality of the perpetrator”. https://www.thelocal.ch/20171107/zur...crime-suspects |

ECHR orders Switzerland to pay damages over ‘verbal racism’ case
Europe’s top human rights court has ordered Switzerland to pay compensation to a Swiss anti-racism group for infringing its freedom of expression. Swiss courts had condemned the group and demanded it remove online comments citing a speech by a Thurgau politician as “verbal racism”. The Strasbourg-based European Court of Human Rights ruled unanimously on Tuesdayexternal link that article 10 (freedom of expression) of the European Convention of Human Rights had been infringed in the case of GRA Stiftung Gegen Rassismus und Antisemitismus (The GRA Foundation against Racism and AntiSemitism) against Switzerland. https://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/freedom...-case/43811208 |

Government to lift legal obstacles to registering gender change
Transgender people should be able to change their first name and gender easily without bureaucracy getting in the way, the Swiss government believes. On Thursday it announced plans to modify the Swiss civil code to make such changes easier to register. It means that anyone who is convinced that the gender they have been assigned in the civil register is not the right one for them should be able to change both gender and first names by means of a simple declaration. No medical examination will be required for changes to the register. https://www.thelocal.ch/20180525/gov...-gender-change |

A Swiss Supermarket Accidentally Baked Swastika-Shaped Bread Apparently it was supposed to be a windmill. Migros, a prominent supermarket and retail chain in eastern Switzerland, sells a monthly bread. It's a regional offer—baked fresh in stores by "your favorite baker," according to the packaging—and looks different every month. The idea for June was original, but apparently harder to execute than expected: instead of a windmill, the "bread of the month" looks more like a swastika. https://munchies.vice.com/en_us/arti...a-shaped-bread |
