Bannock:
Bannock is a quick and easy way to make bread. It is a very accessible calorie source. Recipe: Flour/water, a little baking powder, and a toss of salt. After those ingredients are mixed it is what ever you wish to add. Bannock can be used as a main meal by adding meat, a dessert by adding maple syrup and cinnamon, or just as bread by adding nuts and berries. The first video demonstrates how easy it is to cook by showing different ways it can be cooked. The second video is Ray Mears with a full blown recipe that includes many preferences to the recipe which includes rum. |

Fern fronds are starting to pop up all through the woods. I might sauté some tonight with butter. Some from a few days ago have already unfurled, they don't last for very long.

They sell them fresh here but they're only available for one week out of the year. I'm sure your fresh picked ones are going to be delicious.
