Default Steele's "steamy love letters"

Let us ask the three of you the following questions.

1.Would a sane experienced criminal defense attorney write steamy love letters to his Ukrainian girlfriend from his jail cell, while awaiting trial for trying to blow his wife up with a pipe bomb?
People make drastic decisions when they're under stress, Donald. It's instinctive. In nature it is called fight-or-flight, and it works great. But in modern society drastic behavior only makes things worse, which causes even more stress, which in turn causes people to lose touch with reality even more and make even poorer decisions.
Also remember that Steele, while in solitary confinement, did not have the advantage of being connected with people. Connectedness with people keeps us from making poor decisions, because people look after each other and let each other know when we are "losing it." Aloneness rendered Steele unprotected from himself.
These are the laws of the human psyche, and being a lawyer does not render you immunity against them.
If that's what you mean by "crazy," then I agree with you that Steele was "crazy."

Maybe normal people are not as likely to join dissidents because they fear being rejected by society. Nutcases, on the other hand, have already been rejected by society. So they have no rejection to fear from joining a dissident movement. Am I correct?

Yes, you are correct, but it's best for us to focus on positive forces, such as loyalty and weltanschauung, which can also neutralize fear.

True, that.

Linder strains credulity when he points at Gliebe and Strom as just as bad. Whatever faults they may manifest when left to their own devices, they at least give a first impression of being relatively normal and functional. Strom had been a broadcast engineer for The Voice of America. That's pretty damned functional.

You have a negative attitude to Steele overall. He was a successfull man, in business and law, or he wouldn't have owned such an impressive property. Nor would women seek him out as you allege his wife did.

To an extent. But also, dissidents have to appear somewhat whacky as it means straight society doesn't feel threatened enough to attack them. That was very much so in the marxist societies.

Steele admitted during a jailhouse interview that he hadn't had a paying legal case in 10 years. He lost 19 out of 20 cases that I could find in Idaho. He won a trial for having his dogs off leash. It is not clear to me why he lost all of his cases.

April Gaede knee him well and told me that his ranch was paid for free and clear. It appears that he made all of his money by trading mining stocks and silver. After his last surgery, he was sitting on 8,000 ounces of siver. This is now worth $250,000 or so.

So if we take the former paragraph as true, then he may have lost his faculties as long as ten years ago, when he began losing cases. From what I remember, at least one of them was a case that a first year law student could have won.

However, someone insane enough to come up with a plot as we see here would probably not be intelligent enough to wheel and deal stocks and shares to that amount of collateral.

And there is no real, tangible, palpable evidence to say that he is crazy now. All you have is circumstantial evidence, much of which centres around the alleged behaviour of his wife and cannot be used to draw a conclusion as to Steele's mental status. Post arrest videos of him speaking? Let's just say I wish I was as "insane" as he apparently is because he is eloquent and lucid and very sharp.

You don't have a cause for insanity, you don't have proof or examples of erratic behaviour that would suggest insanity and you don't have medical records or test results that show insanity.

About Those Rumors
by Edgar J. Steele

January 15, 2010

"The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated."
--- Mark Twain

Life is funny. Death isn't. Trust me on this one. I died on November 21, 2009. Ironically, just two weeks prior to my death I sent a message out to this list that said, in discussing my sabbatical from any sort of public speaking or appearance during the latter part of the year: "It actually has grown kind of fun to watch the speculation over whether or not I died this summer." It seemed amusing at the time. Little did I know.

On November 21 I was sitting in my study, reading, when I felt a little "pop" in my chest. I sat there for 15 minutes, fearing that I would pass out if I dared try to stand. Finally, I staggered to my feet, got help and rushed to the local hospital emergency room, where I was quickly diagnosed with a condition serious enough to justify being "choppered" to the nearest cardiac specialty hospital unit. In fact, they told me that I very likely would not live long enough to get there. Fortunately, there just happened to be a helicopter parked on the roof at that very time.

The surgeon's team met me in the elevator at the receiving facility and began work then and there, so far gone was I. My blood pressure had gone to zero - technically, I was dead. Nip and tuck, as they say, but somehow they managed to snatch me back. "Seconds," the surgeon later told me, was all that then separated me from eternity. I spent several hours on a heart-lung machine that day, then 9 days unconscious and on a respirator, then another two weeks in the ICU, barely able to move. It has been a long, slow, painful journey back.

Turns out that the 15 minutes I spent sitting at my desk when this first occurred likely saved my life. My surgeon remarked upon the extensive clotting at the point of rupture that served to direct the blood for a time, clotting that would not have occurred had I been moving around immediately.

I didn't have a heart attack, but what is called an "ascending aortic aneurism." The main artery, the aorta, blew out just where it exited my heart, kind of like a garden hose suddenly failing right at the faucet. The surgeon replaced a large section, together with the main heart valve, and has pronounced me "good as new." The odds of my survival were very, very slim - on the order of 3 or 4 per cent. No explanation as to why this happened. Some things just happen.

It wasn't my time, apparently. All my life, I have known that something important is coming - something I just have to live to see. It hasn't happened yet. I had a very significant dream about this when I was 4 years old. Big things are coming. I've told you this repeatedly.

So I have a good excuse for having been silent all this time, folks. Thank you for the inquiries and the kind words expressing support. Will I be back? Yes, eventually. Will I be just as acerbic? Probably worse. Familiarity breeds contempt. After I beat prostate cancer 12 years ago, I became very unimpressed with the disease when others contracted it.

Now that I have visited the land of the dead (sorry - no touchy-feely "near-death" experiences for me, not a one), I find that I am unimpressed with a good deal of the suffering that takes place in the world. Let me illustrate my lack of sensitivity for you: Have you noticed the similarity between the aftermaths of the Katrina hurricane and the Haiti earthquake? TV films show hordes of Blacks just standing around or looting and hurting each other, doing nothing except complaining about the lack of aid forthcoming from the rest of us. They could be cleaning up, digging out bodies, burying their dead, helping each other, just as seen in similar disasters at other times and in other places. But, no. Ask yourself why. Read my book for a detailed explanation.

Yes, I will be back eventually.
This article was written by someone that is apparently insane?

Default Who do we make the check out to, Rabbi?

Meanwhile huckster Pauly is trying to make money off the Steele case with his own fevered explanations.

Quote:
We will shortly be accepting donations. Every penny will be accounted for and its expenditure published, unlike the swindle at Steele's family website. They have collected over $122,000 by their own admission. Some of that money was squandered on a worthless now disbarred lawyer who has since been convicted of mail and wire fraud. The Steele family has pocketed an unknown amount of this money for their own use while he rots in Federal prison.

All donors will receive their own email account if they wish such as sally @ steelewentcrazy.org . They will also get their name or initials on our website with the amount and type of their donation as well as their location. We will be accepting silver, gold , cash or other valuables which are inexpensive to ship to our doctor and lawyer on the project.

Steele was sane beyond argument before his aorta blew. He lost the Aryan Nation case and Richard Barrett told me it was incompetence. Barrett, of blessed memory was a winning White Nationalist lawyer who had beaten the Poverty Pimp in court.

I have done enough mining stock and bullion trading myself to be able to say that Steele knew what he was doing. After surgery, the fool sold off 3,000 ounces of silver at $18 per ounce. My guess is that much of that money went to Tatyana.

Being a crap lawyer or needing to sell something quickly does not = evidence of insanity.

The post-heart writing completely rules out insanity, especially as in a later post you refer to a letter you received as being proof of insanity. The letter was sent whilst he was in prison awaiting trial for an attempted double murder. He may have been just a little bit stressed when he wrote that letter. This would certainly explain the difference in style.

Donald, I think you may be making your opponents' work too easy by overstating your case.

That word insane is a bit tricky.

Consider the case of Charles Whitman, the 25-year-old former Marine who murdered his wife and mother, then mounted the clocktower at the University of Texas, Austin, and shot 44 people (of whom 12 died).

Whitman was completely lucid and knew what he was doing. It's apparent from a note that he left before going to the university:
I do not quite understand what it is that compels me to type this letter. Perhaps it is to leave some vague reason for the actions I have recently performed. I do not really understand myself these days. I am supposed to be an average reasonable and intelligent young man. However, lately (I cannot recall when it started) I have been a victim of many unusual and irrational thoughts

Was Charles Whitman sane or insane? He had no problems of cognition but he was gripped by strange impulses. He was lucid and he knew what he was doing, but according to what he wrote, he felt as if he were demonically possessed. The autopsy showed a large, malignant brain-tumor.

The argument that the cheerleaders use is that since Steele seemed lucid he could not have been "insane," which would mean that Charles Whitman was not insane either.

This is why I prefer to avoid that word.

So if we are to ignore his perfectly legible writings, the video of him speaking eloquently and lucidly, the complete lack of any reports of odd behaviour from his family and people who actually knew him, what are we left with?

F**k all.

On what are we basing the diagnosis of "crazy"?

F**k all.

Framed or guilty - none of us know the truth. What we can say with no shadow of a doubt is that he has suffered no mental impairment and it's not really a comparable situation to bring up other scenarios such as people who supposedly turned homosexual after a cerebrovascular accident or mass murderers who exhibited signs of being disturbed other than the crime they committed.

I am not convinced that Steele was a crap lawyer. His filings seemed to be correct except the Aryan Nations case and that according to Richard Barrett. Steele lost three of his daughter's Kelsey traffic tickets and two of his own. He lost two libel cases and had to pay $1,500 to KXLY TV in Spokane for attorney fees. He had the advantage in both cases because he did not have to hire a lawyer himself. There is no ready explanation for his losing all but one of his 20 cases in Idaho. I have NEVER seen a lawyer with a record that bad. Theoretically, an average lawyer should win half his cases.

I am a recovered Steele cheerleader. Once upon a time, I believed that he had been framed. His first letter to me raised serious doubts about his mental condition. It has been posted here. As soon as it was proven that he had written several steamy love letters to his Ukrainian girlfriend from his jail cell I saw that he had to be crazy. Then more evidence started to pile up. April Gaede knows him well because he served as her press agent for her twins. She concurs that he is bat shit crazy. See her posts to that effect.

We are not accepting donations at this time. Of course I will let you know the second that we do so you can open up your heart. I put the website up so that Cyndi would know that I meant business. It was outed by Steele's so called webmaster on Stormfront. The search engines found it and forced my hand. Our website www.steelewentcrazy.org/steele is the only complete source of the transcript and files on this case.

I have not completed my discussions with Steele's appeal lawyer and it is not clear whether he is well informed on the trial and knows that Steele is crazy. He did not know about my amicus curiae motion until I sent it to him. He has not replied. He seems to be competent compared to Steele's trial attorney who is now also in Federal prison for mail and wire fraud. His appeal is doomed because a new trial will produce the same result.

Steele's other attorney Amendola from Idaho admitted malpractice in a court affadavit and he has not returned my calls. That reminds me to follow up on that. The shrink who examined Steele's head in jail has not returned my calls. I haven't been able to lay my hands on that report.

Steele's name was removed from my Federal prisoner email list before I could establish contact with him. His counselor had him add it. I don't know what happened there. I am going to write him another letter. Unless he wants out, he will spend the rest of his life in prison. What concerns me is that he has disappeared for the last 13 months from ANY public communication. His wife, thank G-d, has even stopped begging for money.
