I am not planning on taking sides but I don't understand your view point either. Generally speaking if you are a victim and you haven't gotten revenge then you are a weakling who deserves the beating. If you strike back then you are no longer a victim. As far as it goes I am unconvinced but I simply am wondering how you feel about your country receiving aid from an American puppet. As for the killing I don't find the slaughter of Serbs to be close to the Jewish Holocaust since Hitlerites and their puppets showed that they were more than willing to slaughter civilian Slavs and starve Slav Prisoners of War. I don't find it hard to believe that they'd treat Serbs the same way as they treated Russians.

in morning all is better.... what a night... happy new year to you!!! dont border youself with problems of two "saim but different" nations on Balkan, it is like situation in Ireland - catholic vs protestants, but only difference that we make on Balcan in relation catholic vs ortodox vs muslims - you can combine that what you like it was situations in last war where Croats and Srbs vs muslims, Croat and muslims vs Serbs, Serbs and muslims vs Croats, Croats vs Serbs, Croat vs muslims, Serb vs muslims, all combinations....you must live here to understand that. It is melting pot. That what you are intrested - 2WW and concetration camp in Croatia - Jasenovac, it was facilyty capacyty of 1000 pepole with guards - it was working camp where are prisoners was SERBIAN COMUNISTS, Jews, gypssies, fags, CROATIAN COMUNISTS....but Comunists use that to demonise Croats - they said that 700 000 pepole was killed there, that that number was decrised to 70 000 (becouse is lies), but in fact it was 7 000...some of Srebian comunist use that Sci-fi number to make revange sloughter 250 000 Croats after 2WW on Blaiburg... that is old shit...dont fall on Jews propaganda You should be more intrested in concetration camp in Bosnia - Srebrenica....noumbers of killed pepole there, and that was happend in 1993 not in 1943 If you ever been in war, you will be able to understand that killing a man is not so easy what you see on movies, or video games, it is hard, and that shit about "first is hardest" - that is BS - every is hardest |

Split Picigin Players Defy Cold
Courageous Split citizens defy winter chills at the legendary Bacvice beach and play picigin.
SPLIT, CROATIA – Although the temperature has been rather low in Split for days now, picigin enthusiasts, players of the authentic Split beach sport, cannot not be stopped. Thus, courageous Split citizens defy winter chills at the legendary Bacvice beach. As they say themselves, this is where they feel best, they forget their everyday problems, emphasising that the cold strengthens the organism and the Bacvice beach is their second home. Official game rules state that with constant kicking and hitting, the ball has to be kept up in the air for as long as possible, without it hitting the ground or sea surface. The ball is hit once by one player, with one hand, usually their palm, even though exemptions from this rule are possible if they contribute to the general impression of excellence. |

Cardinal Bozanic on Demographic Problem
At mass, Bozanic stressed that civilization needs mother’s love, and that Croatia is poor due to lack of children born
On January 1, the church celebrates Mary, the mother of God, the New Year, and the World Day of Peace, and the Arch Bishop of Zagreb, Cardinal Josip Bozanic, used the opportunity to carry out the Eucharistic celebration in Zagreb’s cathedral, and said that our civilization needs mother’s love that we need to renew in today’s time. “The greatest poverty of Croatia today is the decreasing number of children born. Less children, emptier schools, that is our poverty. The demographic deficit is the hardest and most important problem of modern Croatia” evaluated cardinal Bozanic. He reminded of the message by Pope Benedict XVI for this year’s World Peace Day in which he speaks of suppressing poverty and building peace. The Pope stresses that the most developed countries have the highest index of births, which is an advantage, and gives them bigger possibilities of development, and that means that the population is confirmed as a fortune, and not as a characteristic of poverty. Divide between levels of society Cardinal Bozanic especially stressed the part which speaks about suppressing poverty, which is faced with the complex appearance of globalization. The inequality amongst the rich and poor is more obvious, even in economically developed nations. A problem is in question that is imposed on the conscience of humanity, because the conditions that a great number of people live in are such that they insult their dignity, because of which true and graceful progress, and peace in the world community, is exposed to danger, said the Pope in a message. The cardinal mentioned the reasons for poverty, in which he mentioned that people often stop at the surface and functional reasons of the problem, and does not penetrate to the reason that is in people’s hearts, like greed and the limitation of a wide view. He said that development and help are sometimes accessed without legally including people, as well as technical issues that end in proposing structures, in arranging tariff agreements and authorising anonymous financing. The battle against poverty needs men and women who are competent and who truly want to follow people, family and communities on the path of true human development, says Pope Benedict XVI. Talking about globalization, he said that it is not capable of building peace, but in many cases it creates divisions and conflicts. It reveals the need to be aimed towards the aim of deep solidarity that goes towards the good of everyone and all. The globalization of solidarity is needed, as Pope John Paul II said, said Zagreb’s Arch Bishop, stressing parts of the Pope’s speech. |

It is a Disgrace to Have Tito Square in Zagreb
After two protests did not have results, the Croatian Culture Movement started an online petition for naming the theatre square
After two protests in 2008 did not have results, the Croatian Culture Movement decided that they will reach their aim via a petition. A public call has been posted on the internet, that calls for signatures to rename the “Square of Marshall Tito” into “Theatre Square”. For now, there are only 72 signatures, and when enough signatures are collected, the petition will be sent to the city government and the Croatian parliament. The event that prompted the online petition was the book “Tito’s Secret Years in Moscow 1935-1940” whose author is Silvin Eiletz, which was recently published in Zagreb, in Croatian. The mentioned book, as internet sites state, brings shocking revelations from the Russian archive of social and political history, how Josip Broz Tito became the head of the Yugoslav Party, where he was and what he did from leaving jail after the “bomb process” in 1935, to his return to Zagreb in 1940. The announced archives fill the biggest hole in Yugoslav history “It really is, regardless of political orientation, a disgrace to have a square in Zagreb that carries the name Josip Broz” says the association for protecting citizen’s rights. The publicist Ratko Boskovic left comments about the book on the internet. He stressed that those archives, which were strictly secret until recently, fill the biggest “black hole” in newer Yugoslav and Croatian history, reveal events and facts that Josip Broz kept secret or lied about. “The documents that the author pulled into the light of day are the original “characteristics” that Josip Broz personally, under the code name Valter, wrote in Moscow for the Soviet secret police GPU/NKVD about their pre-war party colleagues. The documents reveal that Broz himself, voluntarily, offered to write the characteristics. The author concluded that Tito was the “biggest denouncer in Eastern Europe”. He betrayed and sent to death or Gulag; both of his wives at the time, numerous personal friends and benefactors, states the publicist Boskovic. He added that all of those characteristics are negative and traitorously blacken Tito’s party Practicing Stalin’s doctrine, Tito sent party heads into camps Also, Boskovic mentioned Stalin’s praise, who said that Tito is a “ hero who killed all of his rivals”. The author of the book “Tito’s Secret Years in Moscow 1935-1940” knew Milovan Djilas, who wrote that of the 2,500 members of the party before the war, around 800 of them were liquidated in Moscow. The Soviet Union rehabilitated all of them after the war, but Yugoslavia did not. They remained unknown to the public. In another part of the book the author brings the shocking story of concentration camps on the islands of Sveti Grgur and Goli Otok, where Tito, practicing Stalin’s doctrine that he learned and accepted in Moscow, placed all of the remaining pre-war party members that somehow survived his pre-war “cleaning”. The most interesting documents were when Josip Broz Tito personally wrote to Moscow or sent to the heads of Stalin’s secret police on Paris, Vienna and Yugoslavia, are published in the book in facsimile – it says on the website (in Croatian) http://www.petitiononline.com/001kaz/petition.html, and calls citizens to join in the petition. |

Hajduk football fans to help poor families in Vukovar
"Torcida," an organisation of fans of Hajduk football club in Split, is raising money for the poor in Vukovar in eastern Croatia. The initiative is being undertaken in cooperation with fans of the club who live in the eastern Croatian region of Slavonia where Vukovar is located. Torcida said in a press release it was not enough to remember the city of Vukovar, which was destroyed during the War of Independence (1991-1995), only once a year since people lived there in very bad conditions throughout the year. Organizers have stressed all donations will be given directly to poor families in Vukovar. Information about the project is available on website http://torcida.org/site/vukovar-2008. |

Zadar sees 25% population boom
The Dalmatian city of Zadar has grown by 25 per cent over the last seven years as 18,520 more people live there now than when the last census was taken in 2001.
According to Zadar police, the city was home to just 72,717 residents in 2001 but now that figure has risen to 91,238 - a 25 per cent increase. This great increase is unusual and very positive compared to other Croatian cities. According to Zadar mayor Bozidar Kalmeta the city has become more popular with young people because of its improved standard of living, good infrastructure, social and cultural life, and also because it offers better employment opportunities. Kalmeta said the city had been an economic miracle and was now one of the most attractive places to live in Croatia. Beside immigration from nearby local places Zadar became more and more popular for Croatian emigrants from other world countries. Three years ago around 1200 Croats returned to their home in Zadar and 1331 of them return to Croatia in 2007. The positive trend records also natality policy, only in the first nine months of 2008 was born 667 babies in Zadar. |
