Tottenham's Eric Dier says footballers are 'last people to blame' for spiraling wages
Tottenham's Eric Dier says footballers are 'last people to blame' for spiraling wages
Premier League clubs set a new record as spending reached £1.4billion for the first time and salaries offered to players reflected the spiraling fees. Around £210million was spent on transfer deadline day alone, while on a broader scale the previous world record fee was passed twice as Barcelona sold Neymar for £198m and bought Ousmane Dembele for a reported £135m. And Dier has called for more understanding from supporters as players - who are, as he says, "just young boys" - deal with the fame and incomes that come with a professional football career. Its a very difficult situation, said Dier. https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/foo...-a3625741.html |
