2016 saw our provincial Food Banks receive such low amounts of donations that several times throughout the year, Food Bank Canada was contacted for food donations to be sent from the mainland.

It was publicly stated that 2016 saw NL be one of shinning examples of the true Canadian spirit with the generosity in which Newfoundlander's gave to Syrian refugess.

I am a Newfoundlander, I live in NL and I am utterly ashamed by this.
