Coronavirus test centre boss sacked ‘after using N-word and calling worker a refugee’

An assistant manager at a coronavirus test centre has been removed from his position over alleged racist comments including using the N-word ‘in a joke’.

Staff at the Postwick Park and Ride site in Norwich welcomed David Cox’s dismissal but said his behaviour ‘caused a lot of stress and anxiety’ and made them feel ‘awkward and uncomfortable’.

In a complaint made to security firm G4S, which manages the site, and employment agency HR GO, staff allege Mr Cox made a catalogue of ‘offensive and unacceptable’ remarks that made some feel unwelcome, including calling a European worker a ‘refugee’.
