Americans donate big to British royal family charities which skimp on their cause

By Isabel Vincent
December 14, 2019

As she draws up plans for a mega-charity, Meghan Markle is following a time-honored tradition among British royals: Go to America. That’s where the money is.

While the stateside branches of charities connected to the British royal family rake in millions every year from Americans enamored with the House of Windsor, they spend heavily on administration and travel and sometimes skimp on the cause, according to a Post review of their federal tax returns.

UK TV network bans ‘uppity’ as RACIST after ONE viewer complaint over Meghan Markle criticism

24 Nov, 2019

British TV network ITV has reportedly banned the word ‘uppity’ following a total of one viewer complaint that the word is racist after a presenter used the term to describe Meghan Markle.

TV host Eamonn Holmes criticized the Duchess of Sussex’s attitude during her attendance at the Wimbledon tennis tournament in July after her security team told people not to take photographs of her.

“If you have an uppity attitude, you're only through the door two minutes and suddenly you’re sitting at Wimbledon and your royal protection are saying, ‘No photographs, no photographs!’” Holmes said on the This Morning show.

His comment prompted one lone viewer to complain to both broadcasting watchdog Ofcom and the station’s head of diversity that the word is racist, the Daily Mail reports.

‘Spiteful treachery’: Piers Morgan brands Harry & Meghan ‘spoiled brats’ after they retreat from royal life

9 Jan, 2020 11:58

Piers Morgan has unleashed a devastating Twitter tirade against Britain’s Duke and Duchess of Sussex, claiming their decision to step back from senior royal duties was a “disgraceful way to treat the Queen.”

Morgan, who co-hosts ITV’s Good Morning Britain, took to social media on Wednesday night to insist Meghan Markle had “split Harry from [Prince] William” and was now “breaking up our royal family after fleecing the public purse.”

The couple revealed that they aim to become “financially independent” and plan to divide their time between the UK and North America. It’s believed that neither the Queen or Prince Charles were consulted before the couple issued their “personal” note, leaving the family “disappointed,” according to the BBC.

Morgan branded this “a disgraceful way to treat The Queen,” adding: “Shame on Harry & Meghan.” The 54 year-old presenter, known for his angry rants and social media battles with high-profile celebrities, described Harry and Meghan’s decision as “spiteful treachery” against their own family.

'I've put my arm around my brother all our lives. I can't do it any more': Prince William reveals 'sadness' at broken bond with Prince Harry and how they are no longer a 'team' - as Queen fears for her fragile grandson ahead of showdown

By Harry Cole and Kate Mansey For The Mail On Sunday and Jack Elsom For Mailonline
Published: 22:45 GMT, 11 January 2020 | Updated: 16:27 GMT, 12 January 2020

Prince William is desperately sad that the close relationship he once enjoyed with Prince Harry has soured, it was claimed by a friend last night.

The Duke of Cambridge has said he is unable to even 'put an arm round' his younger brother nowadays, after a rift saw them drift apart over the past year.

Harry and Meghan's intention to quit as senior Royals has widened the gulf between the two siblings, with William understood to be 'incandescent' over his brother's blindsiding of the Family.

Most Canadians don’t want to pay for Harry and Meghan to live there

By Lee Brown
January 16, 2020

Most Canadians are fine with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle setting up home in the Great White North — as long as they don’t have to pay for it, a new poll shows.

Exactly half of those polled by the non-profit Angus Reid Institute said they did not care either way if the Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved there for good, with a generous 39 percent seeming keen.

But only 5 percent believed taxpayers should help pay for whatever the family needed — with almost three-quarters (73 percent) adamant that the Sussexes should pay for everything themselves.

The responses varied across the country, with the family advised to keep away from Quebec. It was the least welcoming area, with17 percent “upset” if the Sussexes made Canada their home.

80K Canadians sign petition telling Prince Harry, Meghan Markle to pay for their security

By Vincent Barone
January 22, 2020

Welcome to Canada, eh.

More than 80,000 people in the Great White North have signed an online petition demanding that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle pay for their security detail while they’re in town.

The petition, from the fiscally conservative Canadian Taxpayer Federation, racked up the signatures over six days from residents who refuse to use taxpayer money toward the estimated millions of dollars needed annually to safeguard the Sussexes.

Samantha Markle says sister Meghan only wants to get rich and ‘be Hollywood’

By Lee Brown
January 20, 2020

Meghan Markle’s estranged half-sister has accused the duchess of doing “great harm” to the royal family — saying she “chose wealth and fortune over family,” according to an op-ed published Monday.

“My sister has ripped through the Royal Family like a tornado,” Samantha Markle wrote in a first-person piece for Britain’s the Sun.

“Their objective is fame and fortune — to be Hollywood,” she insisted of Meghan and husband Prince Harry’s shocking announcement that they were quitting the royal family.

Palace accidentally implies Meghan Markle is divorced from Harry

By Lee Brown
January 21, 2020

Buckingham Palace has admitted to an embarrassing blunder over Meghan Markle — giving her a title that suggested she was divorced from Prince Harry, according to reports.
(...)
The palace admitted to the British broadcaster that it was an error, with officials expected to announce later the correct way to refer to the post-Megxit duchess, Sky said.

“It inadvertently gives all the wrong messages,” said Sky’s events commentator Alastair Bruce, calling the first name and comma before the title a “template for a divorced wife.”

Prince Harry reportedly in talks with Goldman Sachs

Prince Harry is reportedly in talks with banking giant Goldman Sachs — the start of what a PR guru predicts could be a billion-dollar empire.

The Duke of Sussex — who is believed to have been paid more than $1 million to attend a recent summit hosted by JP Morgan — first held talks with Goldman Sachs in November, according to the Mirror.

Meghan Markle reportedly trying to land role in Hollywood blockbusters

By Vincent Barone
March 1, 2020

She’s traded in the Windsors for Hollywood royalty.

Meghan Markle is trying to get back into acting and is searching for roles in a blockbuster superhero flick, the Daily Mail reported Saturday.

“Meghan is planning a series of meetings in Hollywood,” a source told the outlet. “She has already done the voice-over for Disney and now the word is out that she’s looking for a superhero film, as a voice-over or even on screen.”

The news comes as the Megxiting Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry pursue financial independence from the royal family.

Apparently, there’s been some interest in Markle — her agent, Nick Collins, of Hollywood’s formidable Gersh Agency, has had his hands full with offers, the Daily Mail said.

'To Meghan Markle' is now a verb, and for some reason it doesn't mean ‘to play victim despite sitting pretty'

Barbara McCarthy
is a freelance commentator, photo-journalist and travel writer based in Dublin. She contributes regularly to The Irish Independent, The Irish Times, RT.com, The Sunday Times and others.

30 Jan, 2020 12:19

In the trend of modern-day idolatrous word-building, attempts have been made to turn the name of not-quite-princess Meghan Markle, of recent fame for quitting the Royal Family and taking her husband with her, into a verb.

So, has anyone ‘Meghan Markled' today?

Does that mean: ‘to be a victim, despite prince charming, a baby and endless wealth'? Or perhaps it's short for: ‘martyring someone who acts like a Hollywood princess who voluntarily entered into a life of duty and tradition, only to withdraw 20 months later because things didn't go her way'?

No, the verb ‘to Meghan Markle,' which was created on Twitter, then was picked up and shared by British Radio One DJ Jameela Jamil, means: “To value yourself and your mental health enough to up and leave a room/ situation/ environment in which your authentic self is not welcomed or wanted.”
(...)
Ms. Markle has had her fair share of tumult from her side of the family, but after a relatively brief run of giving the gilded life a go, she ‘freed' her prince from his family, because the thousand-year-old institution refused to change for her at the drop of a hat. Not to worry though, she got an enormous boost to her publicity for her trouble.

Despite being lauded by some, not everyone seems to admire the “the modern princess for our time,” often referred to as a true ‘breath of fresh air' for the double standards she lives by. Lecturing us plebs on climate change, while taking four private jet flights in a handful of days, telling us to give her privacy, while globally trademarking her ‘Sussex Royal' brand didn't go down too well with everyone. Broadcaster Eamonn Holmes, once reprimanded for calling her “uppity,” in a recent interview expanded the description to include “awful, woke, weak, manipulative, spoilt and irritating.”

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle left ‘crushed’ after ‘unnecessarily cruel’ Megxit

By Emily Smith
March 12, 2020

“To say they were crushed is an understatement,” a top royal expert has revealed about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s exit from the British royal family, saying it was “unnecessarily cruel,” adding, “Things might have been different if a family member or two had stood up for them during the darkest times.”

Omid Scobie, Bazaar.com’s royal editor at large and a journalist in Harry and Meghan’s inner circle, has revealed how the couple had ultimately felt Megxit “wasn’t necessary,” but they were forced into it after being “left to fend for themselves against impossible circumstances — even during her pregnancy,” as the British establishment turned its back on the couple.

Scobe also writes of Meghan’s tears as they — “a couple very much hurting” — said goodbye to their team, plus Prince Harry’s heartbreak at giving up his military honors, describing it as “a wound that will take time to heal.” Harry served in the British Army for 10 years, completing two tours in Afghanistan and rising to the rank of captain before he founded the Invictus Games for wounded veterans.

The fact that Harry was always so gung-ho about the zionist wars in the Middle East (which are in no way good for Western countries as they only benefit jews) is the main reason I despise him. Now he's getting a small part of his comeuppance. A very, very small part, but still...

Harry and Meghan show anger at palace over loss of royal branding

Sussexes say monarchy has no jurisdiction over use of word ‘royal’ overseas

Jamie Doward

Sun 23 Feb 2020 09.52 GMT

The freeze in relations between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Buckingham Palace has become apparent after the couple were forced to drop plans to use the brand “SussexRoyal”.

Posts on the couple’s official website suggest they are angry at the way the decision was reached and how they have been treated compared with other royals. A statement on Friday night suggested that a blanket ban on the use of the word “royal” was unenforceable abroad. “There is not,” it noted, “any jurisdiction by the monarchy or Cabinet Office over the use of the word ‘royal’ overseas.”

Megxit is a major blow for biracial people who saw Meghan as a role model

By David Kaufman
March 14, 2020

When Meghan Markle first announced her engagement to Prince Harry in November 2017, she had no bigger fan than myself. As I wrote at the time, Markle — the outspoken daughter of a black mother and white father — was “the biracial hero I’d always wanted.”
(...)
Not only was Markle open about her struggles fitting in to both communities, she used her unusual profile — actress, socialite, Sussex — as a platform for a subtle, millennial form of progressive politicking at every stage of her evolution. How else to describe a Windsor Castle wedding pairing pomp and protocol with a full gospel choir in May 2018.

Barely six months later, Markle’s transformative powers were on full display when she and the duke visited Fiji and the South Pacific. Unlike during the early part of their tour in Australia, the crowds in Fiji were as brown-hued as Meghan — which made for a potent and unprecedented site: a princess-of-color embracing her subjects-of-color. With a perfectly posed wave and megawatt smile, it was a beautiful act of racial reconciliation after centuries of British colonialism.

Most crucially, on that trip — and on later visits to Africa — Markle stood as a role model for the billions of women (and men) of color who desperately need to see themselves represented at the highest reaches of society. And there is no higher reach than the British Royal Family.

But owing to Megxit, Markle is royal no more and no one could be more disappointed than myself. Because in leaving Britain to chart a path of personal and financial independence, Markle may think she’s freeing herself up to do the work she always wanted, but she’s forgotten one key thing: You can’t be a role model if you don’t have a role. And with her legal drama “Suits” canceled, her lifestyle blog shuttered and the Sussex Royal brand effectively banned by the Queen, Markle desperately needs to find her next gig.

Prince Harry feels ‘helpless’ so far from family on lockdown in Canada

By Lee Brown
March 18, 2020

Meghan Markle forces her Canadian staff to wear latex gloves over coronavirus fears — while husband Prince Harry feels “helpless” being isolated more than 4,500 miles away from his aging royal family, according to a report.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are determined to do something to help during what they deem a “mental health crisis” with the shocking change in life brought about by the pandemic, a close friend told DailyMail.com.

Prince Harry’s biographer blasts Sussexes as ‘self-centered’

By Nicki Gostin
March 31, 2020

Prince Harry’s biographer has blasted him and wife Meghan Markle as spoiled brats.

Writing in a new piece for Tatler magazine, Angela Levin — who spent over a year accompanying the royal on his engagements — describes Harry as once being “charismatic, intuitive and quick-witted but also restless and trouble.”

Levin now categorizes the behavior of the Sussexes as “increasingly self-centered,” with their recent decision to decamp to Los Angeles as proof. “Their choice of priorities smacks more of spoilt defiant teenagers than adults in their mid and late-thirties,” says Levin. “I see a Harry who has turned sour, callous even and is obviously stressed.”

Levin says that when Harry and the “Suits” actress were newly engaged, he assured his biographer that he had been honest in describing the realities of being a working member of the royal family. He needed Markle to know what was in store for her and how different it would be from her previous life.

Sadly, less than two years later the couple has quit the royal family and fled the United Kingdom.

The biographer who, during the course of her time with the former royal had plenty of one-on-one time, believes that Harry must be devastated about leaving his family and close military ties.

Trump says US will not pay for Prince Harry, Meghan Markle’s security

By Emily Smith
March 29, 2020

President Trump says the United States will not foot the estimated $1 million-a-year bill for security for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after the couple jetted to California amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Page Six reported on Friday that the couple left their $14 million bolthole in Canada and took a private jet to the Los Angeles area after Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the borders were closing amid the coronavirus crisis.

There were reports the pair — who have both criticized Trump — may need to ask him for “special help” for security protection because the UK taxpayers will no longer fund their guards following their decision to step down as senior royals.

However, Trump tweeted on Sunday, “I am a great friend and admirer of the Queen & the United Kingdom. It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the Kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada. Now they have left Canada for the U.S. however, the U.S. will not pay for their security protection. They must pay!”

Meghan Markle may have to sponsor Prince Harry to live in US

By Sara Nathan
April 1, 2020

Meghan Markle may have to sponsor Prince Harry so he can live and work in the US permanently, a top immigration attorney told Page Six.

As of Tuesday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are no longer working royals and are officially embarking on their new “financially independent” life in Los Angeles.

While the Queen’s grandson, 35, would have been able to work while the couple was living in Canada for the past few months as it’s part of the Commonwealth, the rules are completely different in the States, a top New York immigration attorney said.

Harry has three options to get a green card: He can sponsor himself in the extraordinary ability category; Markle, 38, can sponsor him as a US citizen; or a US entity can sponsor him.
