Default More than 2,000 migrants rescued in Mediterranean

Irish vessel LÉ Eithne rescues 399 migrants, due to assist in operations for six months

More than 2,000 migrants were rescued from five wooden boats in the Mediterranean on Saturday and as many as seven other vessels were reported at sea, the Migrant Offshore Aid Station (MOAS) and Italy’s coastguard has said.

MOAS tweeted it had coordinated the rescue of “over 2,000 people together with Italian, Irish and Germany ships”.

Of the 2,000 migrants saved on the day, the Irish Naval Service vessel LÉ Eithne rescued 399 between two rescue operations.

The first rescue was at 8.45am, when 310 migrants were saved from a barge about 48km north of Zuwarah, Libya after they had initiated a distress call.

Dense fog and poor weather conditions interfered with the operation at times, according to the Defence Forces.

The second rescue operation was at 5pm and involved two inflatable boats and 89 migrants about 70km north of Libya.

According to the Defence Forces, of the total 399 migrants rescued, 280 were men 78 were women and 41 were children. Saturday’s rescue was the sixth undertaken by the crew of the LÉ Eithne.

The crew undertook a similar rescue on Friday evening when 105 migrants were picked up from a small rubber craft about 40km north of Tripoli, Libya.

That rescue took a total of three hours, after which the migrants were transferred overnight to the Italian ship the FENICE.

Rome--The number of migrants arriving in Italy this year after being rescued at sea is set to top 50,000 by Monday after another frantic weekend for the multinational flotilla of boats trying to prevent more drownings in the Mediterranean.

The imminent arrival of an extra 4,000 people at southern ports sent the migration crisis back to the top of the political agenda as three big northern regions warned they will refuse to house any of the new arrivals.

Lombardy president Roberto Maroni said he would be writing to local mayors and prefects in his region on Monday to warn them not to accept any more "illegal immigrants" allocated by the government upon pain of having regional funding cut.

Giovanni Toti, the newly-elected president of Liguria, backed that stance.

"I have already said it: we will not receive any more migrants, and Lombardy, Veneto and Val d'Aosta will do the same thing."

Luca Zaia, the right-wing president of Veneto, said the region that includes Venice was: "Like a bomb ready to go off. The social tensions are absolutely crazy."

Doubtless these creatures were close to the shores with instructions to push each other off the boats again, the usual cause of hysterically reported "drownings".

You omitted the most important part of the article again, Ian.

Italy's coastguard said boats from the Italian, German and Irish navies took part in the "rescue" operation, which was coordinated in its initial stages by MOAS, a privately-funded mission operating out of Malta in partnership with the Doctors without Borders (MSF) "charity".

All these news articles in the jewmedia always use the same framed terms: "Migrants" instead of invaders, "rescued" instead of enabled and empowered by anti-whites.

We shouldn't use their terms.

Post Backlash grows as invaders top 50,000; Northern Italy refuses to accept any more "migrants"

Rome (AFP) - Italy's wealthy North vowed Sunday that it would refuse to accommodate any more migrants as thousands more were rescued in the Mediterranean by a multinational flotilla of ships.

As another frantic weekend of rescues unfolded, nearly 6,000 people were plucked to safety from packed fishing boats and rubber dinghies off Libya.

Mass drownings in the Mediterranean have claimed nearly 1,800 lives so far this year.

All those rescued will be deposited at Sicilian ports or elsewhere in southern Italy in the coming days, lifting this year's total of new arrivals on Italian soil to more than 50,000, as complaints mount about the cost and other problems involved in processing the new arrivals.

The latest batch sent the migration crisis back to the top of the political agenda with three big northern regions vowing to defy the centre-left government of Prime Minister Matteo Renzi by refusing to house any of the new arrivals.

Lombardy president Roberto Maroni said he would be writing to local mayors and prefects in his region on Monday to warn them not to accept any more "illegal immigrants" allocated by the government

Municipalities that did not toe the line would have their funding from the region cut, he said.

Giovanni Toti, the newly-elected president of Liguria, backed that stance.

"We will not receive any more migrants," he said.

Luca Zaia, the right-wing president of Veneto, said the region that includes Venice was "like a bomb ready to go off. The social tensions are absolutely crazy."

British navy ship HMS Bulwark rescued more than 1,000 migrants Sunday from boats in waters between Italy and Libya. At least 10 pregnant women were saved.

Italy's coastguard said 2,371 people had been rescued on Sunday and 3,480 on Saturday.

There were no reports of casualties but one Italian navy boat ferrying 475 migrants rescued on Saturday to Sicily reported that it had seven pregnant women on board.

- Breaking point -

According to the International Organisation for Migration, nearly 1,800 migrants have drowned attempting to make the crossing since the start of this year, including some 800 in an April sinking that was the biggest maritime disaster in the Mediterranean since World War II.

European Union governments reacted by sending more boats to patrol the area.

But they have been unable to agree on a longer-term strategy to ease the migration crisis amid divisions over how to combat traffickers and spread asylum seekers fairly across member states.

"We cannot simply deal with the symptoms of this problem; we must go after the route cause and the trafficking gangs behind it who are making money out of human misery," British Defence Secretary Michael Fallon said on a visit to HMS Bulwark.

The international naval effort was a successful "temporary" measure, he said.

"But now it's time for Europe as a whole to work together to agree a solution, before we see a greater loss of life."

The 50,000 figure represents an increase of around 10

That's a long list. How about starting with anti-white government, "international humanitarians, security professionals, medical staff, and experienced maritime officers", right through to invader house builders who are even now turning Europe into living hell.

Right, it's just a matter of costs and processing problems. If you dare to suggest otherwise, and speak the truth that every invader brought into Europe is a ticking time bomb, you're "right-wing" or "far-right":

Now, even "left-wing" Jews are OK with excluding non-Jews from becoming Israelis. But if a European wants to exclude non-natives suddenly he is "right-wing", even racist. Another example of the double standard anti-whites use to give the impression nationalists are extreme and unreasonable.
