The first time I saw Yoda, I thought of yoga. And that his voice sounded like Fozzie Bear from the Muppets.

Me personally, the Jedi always reminded me of buddhist monks...

Seemingly in league with a 'higher force' and very disciplined.
Their fighting-style also often reminded me of martial arts.
