Post Petition urges Emma Watson to spend a week at Calais Refugee Camp without body guards after her "#RefugeeWelcome" tweet

Petition · Emma Watson: Spend one week in a Calais migrant camp for feminism · Change.org

In order to show how safe current migration is to Europe, particularly regarding the cause of feminism (I reject wholeheartedly the notion that North African and Middle Eastern migrants are unsafe, and rapists), Emma Watson should spend a week's holiday in a Calais migrant camp, without guards of course, to show how safe, and how pro feminism these migrants are.

Oscar Izard started this petition with a single signature, and now has 20,560 supporters. Start a petition today to change something you care about.

Post 'Convoy to Calais': British Humanitarian Aid Banned From Entering France - somehow it's Farage's and Trump's faults.

Radical organizations — including Stop the War, Stand Up to Racism and pro-Labour grassroot movement Momentum — rallied dozens of volunteers to take part in the "Convoy to Calais" initiative, aimed at bringing humanitarian aid to refugees in the French camp. This included clothes, sanitary equipment and toiletries, to be transported in a caravan of 250 vehicles, including 45 trucks, scheduled to set out on Saturday.

But 36 hours before the volunteers' departure, French authorities informed the Metropolitan police that the convoy would be blocked at the border.

"The Met has told us that because of French border control on this side of the Channel, inside of the Dover port, they'd stop us get on the ferry that we've booked and paid for," John Rees, a chief organizer and a member of Stop the War, told Sputnik.

"As for the reason, the letter from the French authorities is quite remarkable: it says that demonstrations have caused troubles at the camp — but we weren't even planning having a demonstration at the camp. It says there's a lot of football hooliganism in France — we're obviously not involved. It mentions terrorist threats — and again we have nothing to do with that."

Rees said the real motive behind the prohibition was France's intention to stem the flow of refugees coming from Syria, Eritrea, Somalia and other countries. Calais camp is plagued by overcrowding, poor sanitary conditions, and a lack of basic goods.

"The French government is pretty hostile to refugees, as a matter of fact," Rees said. "They are trying to stop supply to refugees, exactly at a time when this aid is essential."

Still, in a rally held in central London on Friday, Rees and other organizers announced that if France were to really block them, they would throw an impromptu demonstration in the Dover port itself, and possibly launch a separate protest in front of the French embassy in London.

During the rally, several speakers took on French and British authorities alike, denouncing the treatment of refugees and what they believe to be a general climate of hatred and racism currently gripping Britain and the West.

"Many Britons are now indulging in comments, racist comments they would have never thought making just weeks ago," Unison's trade unionist Roger McKenzie said. "Now they feel they can make it because they're encouraged by people like Farage, like some right-wing tories, by Trump in the US."

Joint secretary of Stand Up to Racism Sabby Dhalu underlined how, in her opinion, the "negative discourse about refugees" provided the essential context for the assassination of pro-refugee, pro-EU Labour MP Jo Cox killed yesterday in Yorkshire, presumably by a man with right-wing sympathies. The 42-year politician was commemorated with a moment of silence at the beginning of the rally.

Post Eurotunnel Delays as African Illegals Kept Out!

Services through the Channel Tunnel have been affected by long delays due to power problems and extra passport checks.

Passengers are waiting five hours to clear border security at Calais and a further four hours at the terminal.

An earlier broken down train and now been fixed. Eurostar is now working on clearing the backlog of trains.

And it warned of queues at Calais due to "reinforced security and border checks".

Eurostar, which also runs services through the tunnel, said some trains from Paris and Brussels were rescheduled and would arrive more than an hour late at London St Pancras, as only "one line remains open".

Post Fuck the UK scream rioting migrants as police teargas them back from a last preBrexit attempt to reach their Merkel-promised land

By Charlie Moore For Mailonline

Published: 03:04 EST, 21 June 2016 | Updated: 03:29 EST, 21 June 2016

Hundreds of enraged migrants caused chaos in Calais as they tried to board ferries to the UK in a violent rampage.

Police had to use tear gas on the 300-strong mob yesterday as they threw stones and attempted to board lorries.

French authorities were forced to seal off the port as police erected barriers to contain the ferocious crowd which was shouting 'f*** the UK'.

Witnesses said that migrants blocked traffic on the way to the port so they could break into lorries in a desperate bid to reach Britain.

And people turned to social media to express their shock at the scenes. One England football fan caught up in the disturbance said cars were being 'stoned' by migrants as they sat in traffic unable to move.

Holidaymaker Ed Lowman shared a pictured of a lorry saying that he saw 'eight illegal immigrants' break into it and another twitter user said migrants were 'smashing cars up with rocks.'

Another complained about the snaking queues that went on for miles: 'UK Border control Calais-side has stopped, we are all sat here waiting for cars to start flowing through. No toilets or water.'

The disturbance started at 3pm yesterday as gangs of migrants from the nearby Jungle camp attacked the road between the camp and the port, according to local paper La Void du Nord.

The road finally reopened at 7pm but was littered with debris after the chaos. Several police officers were injured in the clashes and two militants from the No Borders anarchist group were reportedly arrested.

Post French riot police with loaded tear gas guns chase a group of masked migrants away from boarding British lorries in a tense two-hour standoff in Calais

By Imogen Calderwood For Mailonline

Published: 13:42 EST, 23 June 2016 | Updated: 13:44 EST, 23 June 2016

French riot police armed with tear gas guns were today locked in a tense two-hour standoff with a group of masked migrants in Calais.

Officers with loaded weapons pursued the group of young men, wearing surgical masks and scarves wrapped around their faces, in the area around the 'Jungle' camp.

The men had been attempting to board UK-bound lorries to continue their desperate attempts to reach Britain.
According to an eyewitness, the group of men sheltered in a nearby field throughout the confrontation before fleeing back into the campsite.

'We were watching a group of about 15 or 20 migrants waiting at the side of the road and trying to jump onto moving trucks,' an onlooker, who wanted to remain anonymous, told MailOnline.

Post Pictured - migrants caught trying to sneak into Britain are rounded up and driven back to the Jungle

By Andrew Young In Calais For Mailonline

Published: 09:19 EST, 29 June 2016 | Updated: 09:21 EST, 29 June 2016

The young migrants are rounded up, packed into a minibus and driven just half a mile away from the UK border control checkpoint. No arrests are made, and some of the desperate men walk back to the Jungle camp to prepare for another attempt. It's just another day in the Port of Calais.

Mail Online today witnessed around half a dozen men being escorted away from the ferry port by French police after apparently being caught while hidden on vehicles this morning, but they were simply taken back 'home'.

The bedraggled group were spotted as they were marched to a French police van in a car park, just 100 yards from the UK Border Control checkpoint.

They were seen getting into the van and being driven away from the port in front of British holidaymakers heading back home from the Continent

But instead of being arrested, the migrants were simply dropped off at the side of the road beside a nearby roundabout just half a mile away.

The group, believed to have been made up of migrants from Afghanistan and African countries, then split up and headed off in different directions.

Post Calais migrants 'set ambush to stop vehicles'

The head of a haulage firm says that migrants in Calais set an ambush which caused his truck to collide with another lorry, causing £100,000 of damage.

Allan Campbell, who runs A.L. Campbell Haulage in South Lanarkshire, said that his drivers have to contend with frequent ambushes by migrants desperate to reach the UK.

Last weekend, one of Mr Campbell’s lorries collided with another truck after migrants allegedly burned bales of straw on the dual carriageway. The tractor unit was also damaged and the total cost for repairs may exceed £100,000, Mr Campbell says.

‘Basically they are burning bales of straw and having fires lit on the dual carriageway,’ he said.

Mr Campbell, whose company runs deliveries of fish from northern Scotland to France every day, says that using the Eurotunnel is like ‘going out and in to a jail because of all the immigrants’.

‘There are a lot of trucks being damaged,’ he said.

‘We had the sister truck of that damaged just weeks ago. People threw bricks at it.

‘The paint is damaged on a regular basis. It is not nice.’

By Peter Allen In Paris for MailOnline

Published: 07:38 EST, 12 July 2016 | Updated: 07:59 EST, 12 July 2016

The whole of the 'Jungle' camp in Calais will soon be 'torn down' says the French port town's mayor, who wants all migrants to be sent to Britain.

Natacha Bouchart says she hopes the radical step will see the 6,000 asylum seekers currently living there heading to Britain sooner.

In the meantime, she wants all 'migrants and trouble making activists who commit criminal offences to be arrested, prosecuted and expelled from the country.'

Post Number of migrants found being smuggled into Britain has nearly TRIPLED

Number of migrants found being smuggled into Britain has nearly TRIPLED, report suggests as ministers bury slew of bad news on final day before Commons recess

Report says 6,429 found in six-months in 2015, compared to 2,411 in 2014
Rise happened as migrant crisis gather pace across Europe
Figures as ministers criticised for 'taking out trash' on last day of term

The number of migrants discovered being smuggled into Britain in lorries, cars or on trains has nearly trebled in a year.

A report on so-called 'lorry drops' showed authorities encountered 6,429 'clandestine entrants' in the six months from the beginning of April to the end of September - compared to 2,411 for the same period in 2014.

The numbers found in Kent and referred to a special unit increased 10-fold, from 340 to 3,264.

The rise came as growing numbers of people attempted to cross to Britain from Calais amid the wider international migration crisis last summer.

The figures were among a slew of bad news slipped out by ministers on the last day before parliament rises for its summer recess.

Some 30 written statements were laid in the Commons along with a plethora of reports. Among the stories were a Saudi diplomat alleged to have brought a domestic slave into the country and controversial former HMRC chief Lin Homer walking away with a £2.4million pension pot.

The report from Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration David Bolt admitted that the total number of migrants entering the UK 'clandestinely' each year is not known.

But it said there were figures for entrants discovered who had arrived in the UK concealed in vehicles.

'Most of the migrants encountered in-country had entered concealed in or on a heavy goods vehicle and had left the vehicle at its first stopping-point in the UK,' the report said.

'This form of clandestine entry is commonly referred to as a 'lorry drop'. Although there is no such thing as a typical 'lorry drop', in the period under review most of the migrants encountered were males under the age of 30, originating from Eritrea, Iran, Syria, Sudan and Afghanistan.'

Individuals who were able to conceal themselves on trains generally disembarked at Longport in Kent, the first point in the UK at which trains would slow or stop.

Most migrants who have entered the UK clandestinely and who are known to the Home Office have been identified upon or soon after arrival in the UK, the report said.

This happened in three main ways: they were discovered in or exiting from the vehicle in which they entered the country, they were encountered close to a service station or the motorway network having 'dropped' from the vehicle, or they presented themselves to a police officer or immigration official.

Between November 2014 and October 2015, the Home Office and police forces dedicated around £17.75 million to

Post Calais "Jungle" migrant camp is now bigger than ever - population 7300, increasing each day

Welcome BACK to the Jungle: Population of 'demolished' Calais camp swells to record 7,300 as number of migrants smuggled into UK on lorries TRIPLES (so what are you going to do about it, Francois?)

Nearly 50 people per day are arriving at the tent community in Calais and there are now 7,307 migrants living there
Majority fled to Europe from Afghanistan and Sudan. Comes despite part of camp being demolished in February
Currently border checks on French side of Channel but Calais mayor wants Britain to deal with refugees after Brexit

Just five months ago French authorities began demolishing the Calais refugee camp nicknamed the 'Jungle' after a judge upheld a decision to evict hundreds from the sprawling centre.

But despite talk of dismantling it these new aerial photographs appear to show it is now bigger than ever, having moved to an adjacent field, as a new census claimed the population had swollen to above 7,000 for the first time.

There has been a 15 per cent rise month-on-month despite predictions that fewer people would travel during the holy month of Ramadan.

The increased border security between Turkey and the EU and continued attempts from both French and British authorities to discourage people from making the journey have also failed to stop more refugees arriving at the camp.

Charities Help Refugees and L’Auberge des Migrants say the population now totals 7,307. Nearly 50 people per day are arriving at the tent community and the camp’s population is expected to exceed 10,000 before the end of September if

Post Footage shows dinghy crowded with migrants trying to get into Britain

By Richard Spillett for MailOnline

Published: 05:25 EST, 29 July 2016 | Updated: 06:23 EST, 29 July 2016

This is the 'grossly overladen' dinghy which sank as two British men attempted to smuggle 18 illegal immigrants across the English Channel and into Britain.

Robert Stilwell and Mark Stribling pleaded guilty to conspiring to assist unlawful immigration following their bungled smuggling operation in which they had to be rescued by lifeboat crews.

The pair were arrested after they were caught attempting to smuggle 18 Albanians - including one woman and two children - into the country near the small Kent town of Dymchurch in May.

The bid ended in a dramatic rescue operation when their rigid inflatable boat started taking on water in the early hours of the morning in the English Channel - forcing the migrants to make panicked phone calls to families in Calais.

Refugees have cell phones now and can call relatives?

How valiant of the sailor girls of HMC Valiant to add these shiptars to Britain's growing diverse population. Should have sent them back to France, at least.

Where was HMS Bullshit? In the Mediterranean doing the same thing?

A former professional footballer has been jailed after he tried to smuggle 10 Afghan migrants into Britain in the back of a furniture van.

Post Photos of Migrant funeral of migrant flattened by Brit with Caravan.Calais Muslim Cemetry filling up

Post 'Briton' held over van packed with 18 migrants in Dunkirk

Briton Wog held over van packed with 18 migrants including five children after he was stopped near Dunkirk

A 'British' man attempted to smuggle 18 migrants into UK in van
He is being held in French custody following arrest near Dunkirk
Five children were among those on board, including a baby
Gangs earn £1,000 per person smuggling people across the Channel

A suspected people smuggler with a British passport was in custody in northern France last night after being found driving a small van with 18 UK-bound illegal migrants on board.

The man, who is from a Kurdish background, had five children hidden in the vehicle, including a baby.

His van, which had a British number plate, was stopped on Wednesday by the Grand-Synthe camp, near the Channel port of Dunkirk.

‘At first he refused to cooperate with officers, but eventually allowed them to search his van,’ said a local police source.

‘Inside were eighteen migrants, mainly from countries such as Syria and Iraq. All of them intended to make their way to Britain.

'The five children, including the baby, were well hidden.’

Officers said the man’s name would not be released until official checks had been carried out into his precise background. He will be kept in custody until a court appearance today or early next week.

It is common for former migrants who have been granted asylum in the UK to return to France to help others get to Britain.

Their ability to speak foreign languages, and their contacts in communities like the Iraqi Kurdish one are considered hugely useful by smuggling gangs.

They can earn more than £1,000 per person smuggling people across the Channel, to the south coast of England.

There are currently more than 4000 would-be asylum sleepers sleeping rough in Calais, and up to 1500 in nearby Dunkirk. Many are
