Peter the Great
Peter I was the Tsar of Russia. He reigned from 1682 to 1721. During his reign Peter created a strong navy. He secularized schools. The children of soldiers, officials, and churchmen attended. He administered greater control over the Orthodox Church. He introduced the Julian calendar.
Did Tsar Peter I deserve the title of Peter the Great? |
