Default 2021 German Federal Election: National Socialist & Nationalist election results

Hardline National Socialists fared poorly in Sunday's (Sept. 26) Federal elections.

The National Democratic Party, the oldest and most established pro-NS group, received a total of 60,412 votes (1,089 first choice ballots; 59,323 second choice = 0.1%).

The newer Third Way (III. Weg) party received 8,343 votes (513 first choice; 7,830 second choice).

The great majority of German voters who support NS policies voted for the civic nationalist Alternative for Germany, which received 8,775,312 first & second choice ballots combined. This is approximately 10% of the total, which will give the AfD some 84 seats in the new Reichstag.

However, despite receiving many of its votes from Germans who are NS or pro-NS, the AfD disgraced itself by formally denouncing & insulting National Socialism & National Socialist Gemany.

(These are preliminary results; final results will not differ appreciably.)

For those unfamiliar with the German Federal election system: First choice votes are for specifically named candidates; second choice votes are for the party itself, which will then be allotted delegates to the Reichstag (parliament) proportionate to the votes received over five percent.

Angela Merkel has officially ceased to be the Chancellor of Germany
Quote:
Angela Merkel has officially ceased to be the Federal Chancellor of Germany. On Tuesday, October 26, on the day of the founding meeting of the 20th Bundestag, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier presented her and her cabinet members with official certificates of termination of their powers.

At the same time, in accordance with Article 69 of the Basic Law of the Federal Republic of Germany, Steinmeier asked Merkel to remain in her post as acting chancellor until the new government was sworn in, and she asked the ministers to do the same. The German constitution obliges the chancellor to remain in office until the new Bundestag chooses a successor. The powers of the German acting the chancellor and his cabinet remain the same, but traditionally the “transitional” government does not make important political decisions.
