Joe Biden has named Anthony Blinken – an advocate for isolating Russia, cozying up to China and intervening in Syria – as secretary of state, cementing a foreign policy built on military forays and multi-national motivations.

(JTA) — Tony Blinken, President-elect Joe Biden’s choice for secretary of state, is the stepson of a Holocaust survivor whose stories shaped his worldview and subsequently his policy decisions, including in the Middle East.

Biden named Blinken to the post on Monday, a day after news leaked about his plans to bring on the Jewish former high-ranking official in the Obama administration.

Blinken, 58, has been one of Biden’s closest policy advisers for over a decade and espouses the opposite of Trump’s “America First” agenda, which prioritized nationalist goals over international diplomacy. Multiple reports say that Blinken will seek to rejoin many of the international agreements that Trump left as president, notably the Paris Climate Accords and the Iran nuclear deal (an agreement with major diplomatic consequences for Israel).

Under Blinken, the State Department will usher in a much different foreign policy era, including on Israel. Like Biden, Blinken has close ties to the country forged from his decades of strong support of the Jewish state.

Pennsylvania certifies election results, declares Joe Biden victorious in latest blow to Trump

Pennsylvania has certified Joe Biden as the winner of the state’s 20 Electoral College votes. The decision follows similar moves in the swing states of Georgia and Michigan, but the Trump campaign has vowed to keep fighting.

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf announced the certification on Tuesday, locking in the state’s 20 electors for the Democratic candidate. According to state officials, Biden won Pennsylvania by around 80,000 votes, or a margin of 1.2 percent.

Poll: 63% of Republicans Say Election Was Not ‘Free and Fair’

The majority of Republicans do not believe the 2020 presidential election was free or fair, a Morning Consult survey released Tuesday showed.

Sixty-three percent of Republicans said the election was not “free and fair.” Of those, 40 percent said it was “definitely” not free or fair. Less than one-third of Republicans, or 31 percent, said the election was free and fair, and the vast majority of Democrats, 92 percent, agreed.

Republican trust in the election system has decreased exponentially in the days following the poll, falling to 37 percent. Sixty percent of Republicans distrust the election system, while 80 percent of Democrats trust it.

‘Absurd pandering’: Biden slammed over promise to ‘listen’ to and ‘fight’ for 'transgender and gender-nonconforming’ people

Joe Biden has been accused painting a false picture about hate crimes against transgender people, as well as using politically incorrect language, in a tweet vowing to “fight” for the “dignity and justice” they have been “denied.”

“At least 37 transgender and gender-nonconforming people have been killed this year, most of them Black and Brown transgender women,” Biden tweeted on Friday, recognized as Transgender Day of Remembrance.

The presumed president-elect said the deaths are “intolerable” and promised to “fight” to end the “epidemic of violence.”

“From the moment I am sworn in as president, know that my administration will see you, listen to you, and fight for not only your safety but also the dignity and justice you have been denied,” the former vice president wrote.

Biden has been accused of not only “pandering” and exploiting Transgender Remembrance Day, but also painting a picture that may not entirely reflect reality. While 37 deaths is the highest recorded for transgender people, according to the Humans Rights Campaign, suggesting an “epidemic of violence” has received pushback, especially since many of these deaths have reportedly been linked to murders, unrelated to hate crimes, but more often domestic violence situations and robberies.

“The majority of murders of transgender people involve domestic violence, sex work and drugs. 0.001% of the transgender population experience lethal violence,” author Chad Felix Green, who covers violence against LGBTQ citizens, tweeted in response to Biden.

President Donald Trump assured supporters that his fight to challenge Joe Biden’s victory in swing states like Pennsylvania and Wisconsin is not over, as he claims his team has “massive proof” of voter fraud.

After a week that included multiple legal losses, Trump tweeted that his battles to prove voter fraud in both Wisconsin and Pennsylvania are not over.

“The Wisconsin recount is not about finding mistakes in the count, it is about finding people who have voted illegally, and that case will be brought after the recount is over, on Monday or Tuesday,” he tweeted about the former state, adding that his legal team has “found many illegal votes.”

A ballot recount requested by President Donald Trump in Wisconsin’s largest county has given a slight bump to Democratic challenger Joe Biden, as local officials work through a second audit in another major district.

The new tally from Milwaukee County gave Biden a net increase of 132 votes after it concluded on Friday, out of some 460,000 ballots cast in total. While Trump himself gained 125 votes, the Democratic candidate accrued more than twice that number overall.
