Default The 'saw' back bayonet

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencete...t-auction.html

I have put italics a comment by a reader who sums up the whole 'false' story

The sawback bayonet was designed to be used as a saw by pioneers and sappers. German soldiers didn't like them because a) English and French propaganda (that the bayonet was designed to cause maximum injury) meant that the wielder, if captured, would frequently be killed on the spot by our boys, and b) when utilised as a bayonet it was difficult to extract from flesh and clothing, leaving the wielder defenceless for several seconds. For both these reasons many German troops issued with the sawback bayonet actually filed down the teeth, and it was withdrawn in 1917. It's highly debatable as to whether they're banned by the Geneva Convention, though.

I would rather have one with a edge on both sides.....so you could make slashing cuts in both directions.

superior style bayonet imo. three sided three pronged so when it enters the human flesh you cannot sow it back up again, nasty puncture for sure less of a chance of healing from it and a higher chance of infection. They have been off and on banned for centuries as even the british empire supplied some of their "fearsome" units with three sided bayonets. Of course in ww1-ww2 they tried to ban them, didn't work out.

Someone with effective technique with any bladed weapon will cause their enemy to bleed out within minutes.

Strange thing about WW1--they were more worried about a bayonet than mustard gas, machine guns, tanks and airplanes.
