No offence to you, fellas, but why should anyone care what happens to that bloated Tory wanker Clarkson?

A few 'edgy' comments doesn't make him anything to do with 'us'.

Quite the opposite. He's a bit like O'Reilly or that man-witch Coulter in the US. He's a useful way to re-direct the kind of sentiments that might cause people to come over to our way of thinking.

The popularity of Top Gear nonewithstanding - do you think he'd still be on TV if he was any kind of threat?

Why does he insist on working for the Big Brother Communist channel, he´s so popular that the private ones would probably pay him even more.

Over here, the show appears on a private channel. It's called DMAX which shows mainly Discovery Channel programs: http://www.dmax.de/

Clarkson is a glorified car salesman role-playing a 'typical British lad' with his 'edgy banter' for the benefit of the proles who watch 'Top Gear', and of course for his own abundant benefit.

No big loss.

This will teach him a lesson - don't bite the hand that feeds you! And another lesson - 'if you lie down with dogs, you wake up getting your arse sniffed'.

Of course, there may be a silver lining in all of this - the big decisions in television are not made because of what the viewers think, or popularity, or even for purely commercial motivations (the petition is up to 800k signatures at this time, and will probably reach 1 million by the end of the day - and of course, 'Top Gear' is BBC's most popular show by a long margin), but for political and social motives.

And hopefully, that's what people will take from this.

I don't know about the other "Top Gear". But, the one produced in Britain seems more tailored to snobs.
